  1. To my best knowledge, the application is not detected as a Trojan but as a potentially unwanted application which is an optional detection. To answer your question, it's hard to say what happened. It could be an archive or installer with more files detected in it. If this is the case, one file would have been cleaned (removed) in total.
  2. Does disabling IMAP scanning in the advanced setup instead of disabling email protection make a difference? Please post the information about installed modules from the About window.
  3. Did you intentionally enable Anti-Theft after installation? If so, a phantom account would have been created.
  4. It works for me fine and the hyperlink opens the blog "How to create strong passwords (without driving yourself mad)".
  5. I assume your router was hacked. Please reset it to factory settings and configure remote administration properly so that it's not possible to connect to it from outside and change settings. For more information, refer to this KB article.
  6. Go to the Control panel -> Programs and features and uninstall any music or video toolbar from Bandoo. Then you should be able to install ESET fine. It should have been detected and deleted by ESET Online Scanner, too, but it's better to uninstall it in the standard way.
  7. Yeah, it's similar with exclusions for other than PUA detections. Giving the user an option to exclude such files directly from the alert window would be dangerous as we all know that not all end users are knowledgeable and pick whatever option just to avoid getting an alert again.
  8. Enabling advanced heuristics on file access may have impact on system performance as code emulation is a time and resource consuming process. Therefore, advanced heuristics is only used for newly created and modified files as well as for file that are executed. Files whitelisted by ESET will not be scanned again if you have Smart optimization and LiveGrid enabled.
  9. It's probably a problem of Microsoft Installer which fails to detect a correct system platform. What OS is installed on the computer in question? I'd suggest reinstalling MS Installer and downloading the latest EEA installer from ESET's website.
  10. We don't recommend using VirusTotal or any other similar service to determine if a file or website is clean or not. We are often asked why we block certain website when no other vendor detects it at VirusTotal. Further investigation reveals that there is malware detected only by ESET. If you want to bypass blocks at your risk, you can exclude a blocked website from scanning or url blocking completely.
  11. We won't support that. There's always a good reason why websites are blocked. Users don't have all information needed to evaluate if a particular website is malware-free or not; permitting access to such websites by one click would expose a lot of users at risk as they might get infected easily.
  12. This is not the right place to dispute detections and blocks. Possible false positives should be reported to ESET as per the instructions here. In this case, it's not FP and the block is ok. Having said that, we'll draw this topic to a close.
  13. In Slovakia, we haven't changed the price for a long time. When there was a change in price in the past, the price was reduced. The same goes for the US to my best knowledge. The pricing policy is a matter of distributors in particular countries and basically should be similar to the price of other competetive products. A new license of ESET Smart Security for one computer costs 49,90€ for 1 year here in Slovakia (updates are a bit cheaper then). ESET Family Security pack for 3 computers and 3 mobile devices costs 69,90€ for 1 year.
  14. The best would be to contact Customer care and provide them with examples of spam emails that went through antispam.
  15. Please follow these instructions to repair MBR.
  16. Default settings are recommended. Just make sure that you keep LiveGrid enabled.
  17. Are you able to install EEA x64 locally on that computer?
  18. 1, if you enabled SIM guard, a password would be required to unlock the phone after inserting a non-trusted SIM.
  19. It's already there. HIPS, Advanced memory scanner, Advanced heuristics, LiveGrid and URL filter coupled with generic and smart signatures provide unprecedented protection against zero-day threats.
  20. The above mentioned error message usually appears when a proxy server modifies update files and thus invalidates the digital signature.
  21. A list of supported email clients is available here. Email received via POP3(S) or IMAP(S) is scanned regardless of email client support.
  22. Search for "\\1000203\1000700\rename_computername" in the Configuration Editor and enable the "Enable computer name renaming" option.
  23. You shouldn't be bothered with prompt windows asking for an action unless a potentially unsafe or unwanted application is detected or if a virus is detected and cleaning is not possible.
