  1. What was the URL you used to purchase it just to double check?
  2. But I've seen probably all AVs fail on one of these videos. Nothing will ever be 100 percent but also the actual tests never truly represent how an AV works in real life. A general user should never be running multiple malware pieces at the same time. It all comes down to the user really in my opinion. Obviously you want an AV that has good protection then it just depends on what you want, the interface and so on.
  3. Do you think eset will ever consider their own router for home users like some AVs have started doing which often come with packages?
  4. Is he a decent tester? I rarely watch any of these videos normally as they can be sneaky with how they test e.g. disabling key features. Not heard of this channel
  5. Have you went into network protection in the setup area and clicked the troubleshoot wizard to see if there is anything being blocked as it will allow you to unblock it from there?
  6. If you have an account possibly try and email them - not used or heard of pulse but if you request support they may look into it
  7. I do see they released a box 2. The only thing is would home users change their routers. Most just use the standard one e.g. their isps use. I suppose If it's easy to setup and has better security than standard ones people would probably use them
  8. Some AVs are now supplying their own Routers with their own built in security as packages. Bitdefender for example has their BOX router. I did bring this up a while back and I'm sure someone from Eset said it was something they had been looking into although I think they had no immediate future plans. With the issues with IoT I can see the usefulness of something like this and not forgetting eset has also had the connected home monitor tool for a few years now.
  9. While a bit off topic I thought I'd share this security related piece of news. If you are signed up to Troy Hunt's Have I Been Pwned service you may have received an email in regards to this. Basically a large database was found online unsecure containing 1.2 billion records - these records seemed to be mainly public available information e.g. email addresses, social media accounts, basically things that people can possibly find but all included together. It doesn't seem things like passwords where included. It does show something interesting - even though that information is available and most people know this, most people aren't happy discovering their information is available and being used like this. https://www.inc.com/jason-aten/an-enormous-data-breach-left-personal-information-of-12-billion-people-sitting-out-in-open.html https://www.troyhunt.com/data-enrichment-people-data-labs-and-another-622m-email-addresses/
  10. Have you looked into your quarantine? What has happened that makes you suspect eset has deleted some of your files, and what files has it deleted e.g. just one, a bunch etc. If you open eset and go to tools and then more tools and open quarantine is there anything inside?
  11. I think he may have meant utorrent froze task manager and so being sick of the problems switched to qbittorent
  12. Have you looked in the tools area to see if it is in quarantine. However if it was the AV that quarantined a specific file there might be a reason and you would be best to submit it. You said files in the title so are we talking about multiple files? Are the files there but inaccessible? Ths could be a sign of ransomware
  13. The good thing with eset is that licenses work for all versions e.g. if you buy the latest version and a new version comes out you can upgrade as the license is for the product not the version. Just follow what Marco's said above and you should be good to go
  14. I found an article about SHA-1 which seems to show that it is now unsecure https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/02/at-deaths-door-for-years-widely-used-sha1-function-is-now-dead/ As for eset being in cahoots with Microsoft. What it appears is the opposite. If SHA-1 is indeed unsecure eset wouldn't be a good security program if it was still using it and putting its customers potentially at risk. As a windows 10 user I do feel it is far secure than previous versions. When new updates come there tends to be issues but they have made it easier to pause updates. I also never recommend people using unsupported versions of windows which soon windows 7 will be unsupported. You can try and protect it yourself but if bugs are not fixed you will always be potentially at risk
  15. More because support is ending and windows 10 has better security. It means issues e.g. vulnerabilities won't be patched
  16. Check the link above which will give some tips
  17. Could be possible leftovers from nod32 although that's just me guessing. You could try running the eset uninstaller tool in safe mode which can be downloaded at https://support.eset.com/en/uninstall-eset-manually-using-the-eset-uninstaller-tool You can also install without those options and try and enable via the settings shown in the screenshot by ITman
  18. I do use teamviewer on my home pc. Do you have Teamviewer protected with 2fa or just the server? If not I would recommend also securing Teamviewer itself with 2fa and also make sure your password is different and unique. I remember a few years ago there where people complaining about their Teamviewer accounts being hacked but it turned out another site had been hacked and its users login details revealed. A lot didn't have 2FA enabled and had reused the password. Maybe @itman might have some tips. Not sure if some of the tips for RDP are any good for other remote access tools
  19. I've always wondered as you can change file dates would it be possible for malware to try to abuse this e.g. same file size and change date so file appears to be old
  20. Firstly I wasn't suggesting removing it just the fact that there is probably a reason it is being flagged. I have used it previously until a few days ago as it was a well known torrent application but just decided I might as well use something that doesn't seem suspicious. Previous people seemed to have the problem fixed with putting it into exceptions so unsure why it is still not working. Disabling advanced machine learning might help but this is probably not recommended
  21. Was this exported settings by any chance? The original poster on this topic had an issue where he exported the settings with the marketing messages option disabled but apparently this setting cannot be exported and has to be changed manually. Because the setting was disabled it showed as disabled in the settings when imported even though it wasn't so he had to enable and disable to get to work
