  1. No, we just need to troubleshoot so if disabling the things work we can see what part is causing the issue e.g. real time protection, HIPS etc. Are you on version 13 by the way?
  2. Are you on version 13 - if you haven't got many rules try deleting them and then starting again possibly trying learning mode as Marcos has suggested. You could always try and back things up e.g. rules before deleting them
  3. depends on what version of windows you have. For example windows 10, you can right click start and click command prompt or powershell which I believe is the same but with advanced stuff (and looking at it windows seems to have replaced command prompt in the right click start menu with powershell)
  4. With a router you'd also need to sign up for an internet service I presume. Not sure if legal issues could effect each other to e.g. if one user was downloading illegal files, copyrighted etc. Although not sure if the person with the router would be held responsible
  5. Hi please note this is an English speaking forum. I think a previous person asked this and @Marcos or another mod stated this is no longer possible although I could be wrong
  6. Only thing i can suggest is opening a support ticket via email
  7. Theres a website but cant remember and I'm sure it's been brought up on here possibly a scheme and they have a list of software that are basically puas with the reasons they are classed
  8. Thanks for the reply I did wonder if there where legal issues. Isn't there also a organisation that kind of deals with similar software with a list of programs and a criteria?
  9. The problem is most PUAs are not technically threats at least in the traditional way. For example most PUAs are probably programs that try to get you to install extra stuff e.g. come with ask toolbar and other unwanted stuff so if anything they are adware. Most people probably just want their AV to detect viruses thus why some include PUAs but make it an optional setting for the user to decide. Most general users probably disable it but not fully sure on that. As you mentioned one solution could be for eset to implent something that can give you a reason to why it is a pup but then again it would still be down to the user to look at that and decide if the reasons are okay enough for the user to decide @Marcos not sure if this would be possible or even a link to the reason?
  10. I used to use Bitdefender years ago and often was a beta tester. I was put off when I reported a bug that blocked the internet and it wasn't fixed in the stable release so lots of users experienced it. They kept asking for logs and then just wanted more logs and it didn't seem like it was going to be fixed. I'd seen it crash a lot on non beta versions to. I think when you have a bad experience it puts you off and I've never been back. Probably a lot better but I haven't looked back as eset is lightweight and rarely has issues. I found at one point Bitdefender changed its look a few times each version although it looks like they have settled on one now. Some like this but sometimes it can cause issues if the changes hide/move settings. Eset has a simple easy to use interface and while it has little tweaks it doesn't change too much so it's always easy to use. As Marco's has said why not download a trial and see what you think. Just make sure you uninstall Bitdefender to make sure there are no conflicts. As for test results I find they never really account for real usage. For example the average user wouldn't and shouldn't download 100s of malware all at once. Tests can also be done to favour specific AVs. It all comes down to personal preference really.
  11. Best advice is to email support as there is a better chance of tickets being replied to
  12. Sounds like the same problem as on here Make sure you have location permissions enabled for eset and it is set to always. You may need to disconnect from the wifi and then reconnect when this is done for it to change. Also the user has stated a new bug has appeared and now when leaving and then returning home the warning comes on and they have to disconnect and reconnect again
  13. You might find opening a ticket will get a better result as mods don't always read everything on here.
  14. Yeah that is normal as it's a potential unwanted Application. These programs are not viruses but there may be a risk using them. These programs may come with extra unwanted stuff and may have bad business practises e.g. pester users, capture information they shouldn't, dubious marketing etc. You can disable detection of these. When enabled it is down to the user to decide if they want to use the program. You can exclude it in the options if not. Googling software you will probably have people talking about the reasons AVs have marked it as PUAs and then you can decide yourself
  15. The public license isn't the same as your main one and can be shared. You can also drop a private message to a mod e.g Marcos if you are still unsure or create a support ticket. Response may be slower right now due to it being the weekend
  16. If you click ignore or advanced is there an option to ignore for good. There have been a few users bringing up utorrent alerts
  17. I get the spyware side but don't think i have came across any adverts myself
  18. Just to let you know version 13 is available via the website and will bw released slowly via program update
  19. I'd say it's very light weight and good detection.
  20. Is there any risk of this being used wrongly - e.g. if a trusted domain is hijacked I presume eset would still detect malware etc. Just asking as its something I was just curious about
  21. Have you tried to reinstall utorrent as this may fix it as others have suggested
  22. I do know eset detects utorrent as a potentional unwanted program so you may need to add it to exceptions but normally it would pop up and ask
