  1. I believe I have windscribe installed but rarely use it but cant remember any issues. Will try tonight to see if I can see your issue. I presume you are on the latest eset version? Also is this with pre-release updates enabled
  2. I've seen some AVs in the past redesign their UI each year. I have wondered if it's partly due to the fact there may not be much difference between new versions but a new interface may disguise that. I used to use BitDefender many years ago which if I remember correctly for a while was guilty of changing things. I have no problem with tweaks to the UI which eset occasionally does but changing too much can actually cause issues as people have gotten used to the old design. Sometimes a change is needed but sometimes change for the sake of it can be a bad thing. There are a few things I would like to see added however which I have brought up. For example when you open eset on the home page area (the default area eset lands on) there is some blank space that I feel could be better utilised. One idea I had was to have the firewall troubleshooter there as it is a handy tool that a lot of people either don't know about or don't know where it is and saves clicking through options to find as its right there as soon as you open it. I also think being able to add and change what you see when you right click on the eset icon in the taskbar would be great so users could add their favourite stuff. For example someone who was a gamer and used the gamer mode a lot could add it so they could simply right click and enable/disable. Not all users would use this so having it customisable would help this
  3. It has been posted also on here seems to be possibly linked with ExpressVPN
  4. Sometimes when I download an android app and eset scans it it doesn't close the scanning notification so it appears to be scanning it constantly - the only way so far I have been able to fix this is to restart the phone. Not sure what causes it and it is only every so often. Has anyone else witnessed this? I'm on the android beta version right now but believe I have also seen it on the stable version randomly in the past.
  5. Not sure when it will update itself but the version linked on here isn't a beta they have just released it on here earlier for people to use and can be installed over the top of the current.
  6. That's my only worry - people say it's good but I wonder how limited it iwas without the commands. It's something I plan to one day try out on a USB
  7. I found windows 8 and certainly after the 8.1 update was actually not bad. The biggest complaint seemed to be about the start menu but I found the metro start was just as good once you got used to it - you could just hit start and type and get what you wanted but if there is a choice I always use the more classic kind (as in windows 10 default). Windows 8's biggest problem was it felt like a tablet os for desktop and a desktop for tablet but 8.1 seemed to fix that - 10 has basically took that and brought some missed stuff back. As for Linux I've always wanted to try it just never got round to it. Do you need to know a lot of commands? That's the one thing that put me off - it sounded like a lot of stuff needed commands and drivers could be a nightmare.
  8. I have heard of it and there is a free version but gather its probably limited
  9. As people have mentioned windows 7 will no longer receive updates - while eset and other AVs can protect you, with an out of date OS the risks go up. I've always compared it to a top security jail with a hole in the fence - you can have a lot of security but if there's a big hole, security etc. then there's a chance something can slip through. A lot of people also seem put off by windows 10 but I think it's decent - certainly better security wise.
  10. But I presume you have to rename each manually? My point is by default in your image Deny communication for TebisStarter.exe would be far much easier to read if the name was TebisStarter.exe without all that stuff . As I have mentioned by default you cannot read it because the column is far too small. If you look in this screenshot bellow it is far easier to see what rule is what because of 2 reasons - firstly they just have the application name but also there is the icons that represent them. I do not mind the metro style they use now but if they could add some of the stuff missing from the previous version it would make rule maintenance far easier. I can live without the organising by name but I think there is a way around this to by having a priority extra column however I just find it much easier to find things even when not organised by name in the previous version due to the two reasons mentioned below which are easy to see in the screenshot
  11. The thing is a virus is a type of malware but not all malware are viruses. Im not fully sure but i think back in the day AVs focused on mainly viruses but now tend to focus on malware in general
  12. @Marcos would there not be a way to simply remove the text in the first screenshot? It wouldnt allow the rules to be organised by name like people have asked but at least people would be able to see the filename. I gather its probably not just a simple quick fix but In my opinion it makee no sense to have the text as the name when there is already an area telling you if the rule is an allow or block rule and if anything just causes more issues that could be avoided
  13. Does ZoneLabs not still offer just a firewall? I used to use it years back but it would often block the internet randomly
  14. Not sure if that was an error ha but thought id add that i never made that comment in regards to windows firewall. As i mentioned and have mentioned previously as shown by the image bellow by default you cannot see the app name because "allow communication for" is shown even though there is an action area. Also as seen bellow previous versions had icons to help see rules As you said this seems to have happened when they changed to the metro design. Wonder if there was a way to show the app names with icons with the metro style design
  15. I see this has its own forum now. What id like to see is basically what i mentioned above. Even if you cannot arange the rules by name the design of the rule area should be designed better still
  16. The rules in a version years ago could be organised but after they changed it to the order also was the priority this feature was removed. This wouldnt be as bad if it wasnt for the fact there is text before the rule name so by default its hard to see what the name is. They really should remove the extra text and have icons representing the apps
  17. This is what i suggested basically having a way that the rules can be organised without effecting the prority
  18. I am not sure about the new telementry settings - I have seen people stating it could be to do with the EU and GDPR, giving people clear explanation about data being collected and more choices but this was added in previous versions so not sure @Marcos may be able to answer this. As to live grid - I don't know all the details but believe it helps with new malare. The problem is that when malware is new and has no signature, traditional methods will not work - with live grid if it detects something dangerous and it is enabled I believe it sends this to eset so that they can look at the possible virus and if it is a virus, then create a signature and release it to customers. Again it's probably more complicated than that but it has a purpose - because if people don't share new unknown viruses then they cannot create signatures. It is optional though. http://support.eset.com/kb531/?viewlocale=en_US This link explains it and a link to the technology it uses
  19. Also to add a lot of isps are blocking torrent sites. Theres always ways around things but thats the point. If eset blocked a lot of these those wanting access would unblock then blame eset still when they got infected
  20. As mentioned most appear to be crack tools. Also you mentioned blocking all trackers but eset cant block them all just because some of its users may post viruses thus the reason marcos mentioned dropbox. To be honest most people can be safe by following good practises by avoiding risky sites like these
  21. The problem is torrents are not illegal by default although they are mainly used for illegal practises. For example some unsigned bands have used torrents in the past to diatribute their material
  22. I've never heard of this problem but surely it's still risky using it as windows no longer supports it. When using an out of date OS there is always higher risks involved. I get that some businesses rely on legacy stuff that may not be available on newer versions and may be hard and costly to upgrade but on a security point it is always recommended
  23. Also you may have issues if using eset and malwarebytes and AVG all together on your phone as they may conflict with each other
  24. Not all I don't think. Some just use a text message so as long as you have a mobile phone to receive the code you should be able to activate it. Some such as banking also have phone call options. You can also get apps that work on computers as well as mobiles. I use one called authy which I have on my phone but also pc and as a chrome extension
  25. Most including those using it don't really understand and can rely too much on it
