  1. So I used Eff's Panopticlick today which seemed to say my computer wasn't fully safe from adverts and tracking https://panopticlick.eff.org/ I use chrome with the extensions Adblock Plus for blocking adverts and Blur for blocking trackers. I have seen some people on here talk about stuff such as ublock so I was just wondering what do people use and recommend. I feel privacy is something that is coming more and more important, especially with the risk that our data is not only being taken and often sold without our permission but that this data can often later be stolen e.g. from hackers. Just wondering what people on here use?
  2. This has been asked before. Some AVs do Include these but it's debate if it is a security feature as it's more of a clean up utility than a security feature. For that reason eset has up to know focused on just security. I should add they do have a tool for restoring windows settings back to their default settings which can be used when trying to recover from an infection. However this feature is only recommended when dealing with malware leftovers. As itman has also mentioned Windows itself does have a cleanup feature
  3. Are you using malwarebytes in realtime as this is often not recommended as the two AVs may conflict with each other
  4. I've not heard of the other one. I use eset mobile because I've been using the desktop version for quite a few years. Eset has a lot of years experience.
  5. I suppose if the address was from a suspicious add on and you closed the notification you might forget and still be running it. I obviously understand your point though.
  6. Does the green tick not state it is known though? Would the 1 not maybe mean its an updated version but then if it was I suppose you'd expect multiple people with eset to have it
  7. If it's still not there check it hasn't accidentally landed in the spam folder
  8. You mention Avast and I do see an icon for Malwarebytes. Could the problem not be you are running multiple security products all at the same time. This is not recommended as it could cause system instabilities e.g. both try to do the same thing at the same time and conflict with each other
  9. You may be able to contact Ebay and PayPal but I persume it may be too late with the seller going.
  10. Nope I'm sure there is an option to run as an administrator in the scan option
  11. You can run the scan as an administrator. Some files may be locked e.g. in use or password protected
  12. It depends. Did you load just that url you posted or a link that was shortened. If just the link it is probably okay
  13. I visited the link which is a URL shortener service which is why it may have got flagged up by AT&T - URL shorteners allow you to take a really long link and shorten it into something easier to share and remember. These services are generally safe themselves but cybercriminals will use them. The problem is that you can't see what the link resolves to - for example I took the non existent scamsite.com and shortened it with bit.ly another url shortener and it gives me bit.ly/2O83MHm - so a scammer will try to use these links to re-direct people. There are services that can find out what is at the other end however.
  14. When a full program update is installed you are given the option to restart eset to finish the update. I would love it if there was also a shutdown option so the user could shutdown the computer when finished and when booting back up the update would be properly installed. The problem is doing a standard windows shutdown doesn't work - so if for example a user doesn't have time to do a reboot and shuts the computer down via the standard windows way and then boots back up later they would then have to go to eset and click the restart option. Not sure if this method would be hard to implement and I know it's not really an important feature or priority but it could be handy
  15. Hopefully someone from Eset will get back to you. Only other thing I can think is there was maybe an issue with it and so they pulled the previous version
  16. This sounds weird - have you had pre-release updates on at any time and then disabled them? The only thing I can think of is you where using pre-release updates but disabled them and somehow eset went back to the non pre-release version
  17. Yeah I moved onto System Ninja a few months back because of concerns with Ccleaner. I do think Ccleaner is still probably one of the better looking and feature heavy ones though. Also as Marcos has said unless you know what you are doing or have problems, these logs don't really need to be enabled.
  18. It has the characteristics of ESET is a strange sentence. That would suggest it was similar to ESET but not ESET
  19. Hi welcome to the forum. Just to let you know AV stands for antivirus Welcome to ESET. I see you mentioned nod32. Have you looked into Eset internet security which contains a firewall, network protection etc. There is also smart security premium which is internet security but with a password manager and an encryption tool. Hi and welcome to the forum. AV stands for antivirus
  20. Did you install anything else as sometimes installers for programs come with extras that are often selected by default
  21. @Marcossorry to bother you again but as suspected it is a spam account. Seems accounts are occasionally being set up often posting stuff that doesn't go with the post and later editing that post to include links possibly edited later in the hopes no one notices
  22. As far as I know you can login to your account on the eset site and extend it.
