  1. If using a standard HD, thrashing can occur.
  2. Can you reproduce Marcos ? I can try on a vm, but thats it atm. If the app crashed, u should have a dump file, whether windows or eset
  3. I love imgburn recommend it highly
  4. How about browsing to the directory to see if the file was created or not ?
  5. potentially unsafe It may or may not be, in the wrong hands, unsafe, in a controlled environment, it may be safe. Since we can't predict the outcome, it is labeled potentially, and entered into said database. The detection of unsafe can still always be turned off to use such utilities.
  6. Thank you Fer for your kind words, and thank you Aryeh as well. I love helping and supporting ESET. It has been an honor to meet majority of the people at the top, as well as the opportunity to become a partner, and assist with anything and everything i can on the forums. No security company will ever sway my allegience or impress me in the amount that ESET has. The people behind the support and security against malware, are even greater than the product itself. ...and yes, Foneil is one of the contributors behind the KB articles, but common sense tells you he works on a team. They all do a fantastic job here as well as in the departments they work in. I presume they are hard in development in having the linux sysrescue incorporated into the windows software, however much planning must go into cross system integration, since at current time, windows ESET products create a windows boot disk. Maybe a link in the gui to the linux building tool below the windows, will suffice.
  7. No, certainly not Try running the Uninstaller in safe mode, then retry your installation again. If Live fails, try the offline msi.
  8. You would think during updates, either network would be high, or disk activity. However if updates are sent compressed and decompressed in any way, the cpu would be used for decompression, with moving using disk activity. Can eset confirm an issue with cpu priority for updates? Can it be adjusted ?
  9. Wasn't there a way to decrease the variables used by the daemon, or was this in windows for environment variables, i forget.
  10. I do concur rug has put forth some extra effort and attention into EMS. Good things come to big contributors.
  11. It uses a database Wayne Whichever db you decide to use, will should allow queries provided you use the right ports and credentials when you start your query. I am pretty sure on this. Maybe you just need some documentation on syntax ?
  12. Try using the uninstaller in safe mode, then rebooting followed by new install.
  13. IPC error might be due to the fact your credentials used do not have local admin access to the share or machine, or UAC may be turned on with the clients. The only manual of ERAC i know is English. Maybe Chad can link a spanish version of the PDF.
  14. I know some time has passed, but if you still need assistance, we're here. What happens when you reset your browser to default settings? Also is this trustwave ? hxxp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trustwave_SecureBrowsing
  15. Hi, Sometimes the found threats are issues in a dialogue box at the end of scan to be dealth with. You also have the option of changing the cleaning priority to "strict" in the threat sense engine parameters, which can be adjusted for , in depth, smart, or even real-time prot scans.
  16. I concur, this is a malware free public community, and is strictly moderated. Feel free to discuss incidents, but for sure cannot be treated as a ftp server or gateway for malware submissions. The software and instructions above are good methods.
  17. Hello, Also, since development is controlled and the direction it moves in is the sole discretionary decision of ESET's, they can take as they need before converting to production, live, or released from BETA. I don't know of any best practices for Beta on sites and software myself.
  18. Thanks for your feedback Pentode. We have some brilliant minds at ESET. I am confident their path for fighting malware and improving products is the most taken one and preferred amongst customers and other vendors alike. Cheers ~
  19. Dr. I would try to uninstall using the safe mode tool, make sure no more folders or registry objects reside, and do a full clean install again. Hips might be the cause of your permission and service issues.
  20. Good day Janus, Quite a warm good feeling to hear from you. I took a month or two break myself to do some catching up on personal matters.
  21. udb is rarely used for the lack of checksum of packets, but it can be used as a decent denial of service if the servers etc have it the port open if not filtered seperatly by a physical firewall or router.
  22. Well tcp and udp are completely different. I am not absolutely sure if a udp flood would be detected, but that tcp overload looks to block a tcp flood.
  23. Did you delete the files from quarantine using the ESET interface ? Or did you manually open the directory and delete them all using explorer manually? If your quarantine is empty, the folder is empty, and there is still a number in the main menu. It may be a programming flaw that needs to be looked at. Have you tried using the uninstaller in safe mode and then reinstalling ? After its finished, i would delete any remaining folders in appdata\local\eset and programdata\eset, and ensure no registry objects are lingering, then do a clean install.
  24. Hello, LOL (Smart security 8) My score: 17/20 My score was lower due to icmp filtering, my hostname not being returnable, and using opendns. marodor, why dont you tell us why your score is lower and for what reasons, the site tells you, blaming ESET's firewall may be misplaced. According to the site and my experience, turning off icmp, and or filtering it, is better protection and privacy while browsing the web, and if what you are describing is as you say, your score being lower is actually an improvement and better security for yourself on the web. Turning your firewall off, or switching products for a little reason like ping filtering is most silly and obtuse. Thanks for posting.
