Hips Smart Mode Suspicious Actions
Arakasi replied to orangenbaumblatt's topic in ESET Beta Products for Home Users
Trying out smart mode now. Did not notice that addition. Wow im slow. -
This is what i was going to say but i did not know how to put it into words. Nice job William. Many admins usually just keep windows firewall turned off completely as not to incur network outtages and internal network issues with normal users trying to access the server on a daily basis, especially involving QoS and network throughput speeds. Filtering would slow things down. Have good logs, and good notifications on "new network traffic".

Scheduled Scans
Arakasi replied to Aryeh Goretsky's topic in ESET Internet Security & ESET Smart Security Premium
Well said planet. In a short sense, its unnecessary. And respectively i dont mean no bad intentions towards labview at all, but since its in the same category of additional features which we have talked about, time and time again, i tend to lash out a bit. If ESET began to start making Total protection, or gold, or premium, or advanced version etc. The amount of people and user base that would leave ESET services would be phenomenal. Stock would drop, user subs would drop, things would be utter nutz. ESET will never make a decision that would harm its reputation and do a complete 360, haha 360 total protection. Any additional features that really start to play a major role in security is sought out through partners and other vendors as Aryeh stated. -

I may have been misunderstood in my verbage. I use several plug-ins in my own browser, Last pass, lightbeam, Adblock pro, etc etc What i meant to say is that when i see browser extensions coming from a security product i find that stuff junk. They do nothing but weigh things down. ESET is able to provide protection with any browser without even touching any part of the browser. And if they did ..... it would require a lot of attention and updating and testing etc just like Aryeh said. If you want a web site reputation addon, use an alternative, they already exist, so why should ESET make one ? -
Question Regarding Deslock And Lost Machines
Arakasi replied to captainfish's topic in ESET Endpoint Products
Deslock uses its own management console which is sql based. If the system is on the network there are plenty of options for what you can do with the encryption. from the RAC. However if the device is stolen, that is the purpose of encryption. If you are using FDE there is a password to boot up or access disk everytime you turn the computer on. If the drive is removed you can't see any data. In short, no need to wipe, kill or scramble etc. I hope you decide to go with Deslock as i have tried it and its wonderful. Let us know if you have further questions. -
Nod32 7.0.317.4 Slow Boot With Windows 8.1 64-Bit
Arakasi replied to Nodder's topic in ESET NOD32 Antivirus
You're welcome thanks for letting us know about the fix !!! -
Correct, If you have 1 computer go down, you can build a new and use the same license. ESET will recognize your still actively using only 5 and wont see it as 6 because the dead computer won't be asking for updates since its dead, LOL The only way this may happen is if you actually have a 5th one somewhere online actively getting updates using your license. This is how license theft or misuse is caught for those that have queried this in the past. Good luck mcnam007.

Received A Mail With Valid Account Data From Another User
Arakasi replied to Nazze's topic in General Discussion
I would have to ask, that you hold off for staff only, as they will need to get your email address as well as the EAV that was emailed to you in a private message. There is no way to tell if this came from an individual simply ordering online and entering the wrong email address, or from a partner who did it by mistake. I think it would be very unlikely for any staff at ESET to make this mistake as they have checksums and access to the entire database of client information. It sounds like a standard person online or a partner may have made this mistake. Please stand by. -

I think ESET does have pre-defined rules for HIPS, you just can't see them. Maybe ESET can bring these out into the open for editting. -

I agree with Aryeh. Since this is a public forum to freely express opinions. Mine is that toolbars and web add-ons, extensions, and the on-going topic of a browser add-on for trust on sites is utter junk and should never be incorporated into ESET's software. Use an alternative program. -

Group Discount - Crypto Currency Needs Security
Arakasi replied to CyberHippie's topic in General Discussion
Hello Mark, It's awesome you are interested in ESET and showing interested in improving your clients security. Anythings possible, and we should be able to provide you with assistance and direction. We have a few questions to ask you first like location. What part of the world are you located in, as well as majority of your clients ? Aside from providing them with links to download and purchase ESET, you would need to speak with ESET directly or speak with a distributor such as myself to get some good deals going. I am subject only to the Southern / Central part of the United States. But we may be able to find someone in your area, or if you contact ESET by phone they can also provide you with assistance or a sales engineer to assist. -

Arakasi replied to Aryeh Goretsky's topic in ESET Internet Security & ESET Smart Security Premium
They have more features than the population of north america. Most are uneeded or redundant. Sometimes weight things down. Slow systems down & cause unexpected results. Respectively... -
You need internet to utilize live grid which is cloud checksum against files. As stated its not used for EOS. Only for the standard product. This means once the signitures are downloaded and the online scanner starts scanning your system, you no longer need internet.

Nod32 7.0.317.4 Slow Boot With Windows 8.1 64-Bit
Arakasi replied to Nodder's topic in ESET NOD32 Antivirus
Hello, How do you know it is taking 30 seconds + to start ? Event viewer logs ? Watching services start ? If you are referring to the GUI and splash screen, that is only visual details and not the actual Nod32 engine. The start up screen for nod32 does not identify the starting of the antivirus engine, only the user interface which is not what is providing you protection. Have you tried going through your other start up programs to verify there is no conflicting applications slowing the process or causing the load of GUI to freeze or start slow etc ? -
Make sure you choose advanced settings on the online scanner and select PUA's

Hmm, January 2014 too. Did you know ESET's growth has been 524% over the past 5 years I am selling ESET like hotcakes in San Antonio, Texas, USA and despite all i have been through, my goal is to spread the product and make it known throughout the entire city over the next year or two. I already have meetings scheduled next week with one of the main founders, reps , of ESET's partnership program. We will be planning to expand and turn / convert the entire city !! Goodbye Norton, Mcafee, Kaspersky, and all the rest of programs that clients keep bringing into my office for cleaning of PUA's and bloatware etc etc, because of bad firewall drivers and threats that slipped by..... Hello ESET !!! Hello Livegrid user count and collaboration !!!! All my clients participate in Livegrid , because i install and configure it, then tell them don't mess with it!

Hello, It appears to be a minidump file created by ESET from an application hang. I would say its safe to delete. It may be used when troubleshooting errors or crashes. The reason it is on the root of C: is beyond me. However you can specify dump locations in the Advanced setup > Tools > Diagnostics > Application memory dump. [ Switch dump type ] [ Switch Target directory ]. You only need these for troubleshooting.

Its unfortunate news about his early stages of Parkinson's. That is one terrible disease and no one should have to go through that. Its degrading and such a dilapidation sickness, very bad the older you get. Lucky enough Michael J Fox caught it at an early age and has been able to fight it and contribute to cures. Other people are gone within a year of diagnosis. I hope his (Robin's) funny shows and memories of happiness linger for everyone despite this outcome.

Hello, The next question to be asked is , " does the ESET Online Scanner utilize Live grid technology ? " I do not see any documentation where EOS states you require Online connectivity after the signatures are downloaded. "Fer" or anyone else in connection with the KB team; Can we get this added to the KB article ? Live grid usage with EOS ? Or online connection requirement after installation and download of signatures. hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN405 Good question Nori-chan.

Have you tried switching the firewall "mode" to something other than automatic ? Try learning mode then see if it creates the correct rule for you. Then try Interactive if that doesn't work and wait for prompts to allow. If that still doesn't work, you are going to have to create a rule manually by specifying application, tcp udp port type or number, as well as local and remote ports or subnet ranges to be allowed or blocked etc. If none of the above work, we are going to need a look at your logs. Post them back here ensuring any public IP's are not listed. Leave the private behind dmz so we can give the correct rule to create. Let us know !
