  1. True, There is way to many smb's though. I have way to many small networks where the dc is also using dns, app, iis, file, dhcp. Sometimes even wsus if they wont fork out the money for a second server, or premium build. However larger networks and companies are done right. True it doesn't have to be on dc, just make sure the connection to ad is working because you get better net discovery results, and its tighter if you sync with ad.
  2. Its just weird looking at it in policies, but check the GUI on the forms in the apps. The HIPS section has self defense check box.
  3. So after you install the server msi, have you checked all the eset services started running and are set to automatic or what have you, from the drivers dumped after installation ?
  4. Well sure, if you can create a policy for it and have the mirror settings set. You can set a group with that policy and add the computers you desire.
  5. Not likely. Check your scan settings & / or, contact support for RA help.
  6. Have you tried running the ESET Uninstaller in safe mode. Then reboot to see if connection is restored. Then reinstall again. Exporting your settings shouldn't have anything to do with the network drivers for filtering.
  7. Try enabling potentially unwanted applications and unsafe. Switch to custom scan and choose in-depth. Make sure you re-select operating memory and also scan as administrator.
  8. The e-mail address would be used to identify you in these submissions and should they need to contact you about certain submissions only. On the other hand you can jump down to "alerts and notifications" under tools and have info sent to you about certain warnings etc via email or SMTP.
  9. The firewall already has a smart mode, its called "automatic" The firewall has enough modes to accomplish anything needed. Learning mode can be compared to smart as it creates rules for you.
  10. Femtocell can intercept too at the phone end.
  11. Everything looks legit on the site. Gold level partnership means they are selling a lot of ESET and have to maintain those level of sales. Some of the links are suppose to go back to main ESET pages, to be tracked. ESET has headquarters in San Deigo. It's the official head quarters of the North American region. They have a CEO - Andrew Lee. They maintain their own infrastructure and organization. I would request that this thread be concluded as everything appears to be ok here. Yes the site in question is outdated, and they may no longer be a partner. Thanks
  12. You can easily intercept that code leaving the server by the way. Never say no one can.
  13. Something may have gone wrong during creation, no editing is not sufficient. Delete it, and re-create it.
  14. Hello, I would suggest deleting the objects and re-creating them again. Also even though you stated they are set for next scheduled time, be sure that Run as soon as possible isn't checked.
  15. I don't think ESET has the mindset of selfishness, to purposefully and literally , prevent someone from infecting their PC's for financial gain. What kind of image does that set for companies ? A bad taste in my mouth, i'll exclaim. ESET allows for free 30 day trials, they still keep protection if the license expires, customers just no longer receive updates for the newer threats. That is the downfall. I would recommend against forcing protection off for people. You never know if maybe they decide to buy a month after expiration, while still trying it out or saving money.
  16. This is the US link : https://www.eset.com/us/support/contact/ You could find their phone number here as well: hxxp://www.eset.com/us/about/contact/ If in a different region you can proceed to www.eset.com and it should filter you to your regions page.
  17. Endpoint antivirus does not include the details we provided. It also does not filter most internal network traffic. It does not have a firewall, only a http scanner for web, on port 80, 8080, 3128. It also has protocol filtering for internal applications, however i dont think it blocks Quickbooks. You could try adding all the quickbook files and updaters to be excluded from protocol filtering, and then report back your findings.
  18. But you should be clear in your mind what this means on the other hand. On the one hand this error here shouldn't exists, but on the other hand it's not quite a good technology to prevent this misuse of license data. I need to correct this on Marcos behalf because he is correct it does not check on install. This helps when removing from 1 PC and installing on another. He said not on install only. License count is registered in when updating. If its over the limit you will not receive an update, because 5 computers already updated within the last hour. This is how it works AFAIK. You cant actively have more than 5 running on a system with a 5 PC license etc. The 6th will fail every ime at updating.
  19. You can download older versions from the package manager. Remote installs > Right click manage packages "installation packages editor" > Download from the web, choose older msi or version.
  20. ESET wins lightest AV awards, lowest false positive awards, and highest detection awards , from time to time. Their support is the best in the business, they have been around for 21 years + according to starting in 93, however the founders were working on software back in 87. The company stays very active outside the security industy and the people working for the company are very professional, and kind-hearted. The forums here are a great community to make conversation with and so far we have hundreds of threads you can browse around to get a feel for decison making, direction, and how well the software actually is, without simply taking our word for it. Good luck on your decision and welcome to the forums.
  21. I will contact a few people from project management about the request, as well as a supervisor i have in my address book. We will look into it. Thanks for sharing.
