  1. Yes, if you disable protection in order to download a file, you are asking for trouble. There is a reason the file was getting corrupted by ESET. LOL ESET was disabling the file because it was harmful. Good luck
  2. Sorry rugk, i cant agree with you this time buddy. It DOES drain the battery, if you are between 0-15% and have it set to send gps when the battery is low. I suggested an idea to turn this capability off or on via the web console, and i think it was implemented. So be cautious if you use this feature., and your phone is consistently between 0-15, and you are trying to charge it back up, at the same time of having to use it to make calls or texts etc in this battery state.
  3. Your forgetting about size and hash or md5 of files. Or sha-1 Or if a second file is binded, once the alternative process is started, it's not going to be ignored by ESET once the binding is over, or second process starts asynchronously etc.
  4. Well thats kind of what Live grid is/does. It checks launched or executed processes against a cloud database.
  5. Not enough to make a noticeable problem. The endpoints communicate back to the ERA server using a session service on a tcp port 2222. I have attached pic with location inside Configuration Editor
  6. Hello ! Sometimes switching from one security solution to another is a hit or miss as far as successful conversion. There are always bad coding practices and/or glitches if you will, that cause uninstalls and installs to miss or omit certain instructions. In comparison a machine with a security solution pre-loaded, or with none at all, and a fresh osx install. Starting the first installation of a security product will be the smoothest at best due to lack of residual files or conflicts that could arise due to other software. I hope this helps to curb your unfortunate experience, trying to convert to a better security solution. I am confident of this.
  7. You can set the check in time of the endpoints from 10-15m down to even 3m check ins etc.
  8. Already thread here : https://forum.eset.com/topic/3805-remote-administrator-install-odbc-error/
  9. There are several packages and revisions that the pcu will not work on, and a re-deploy of the newer version to be installed over the top is the route to take. At least, i'm sure that's the answer.
  10. A bump for curiosity of a moderator's troubleshooting steps. Ha, don't laugh at me. I always search for the easiest explanation on any distribution or install etc.
  11. Your absolutely right Swex, nothing like that intended. I was just covering my bases, but yes it was suppose to be a humorous fun joke.
  12. Im sure there is another way of activating cam too, besides calling it directly, id have to research lol
  13. There could be a lot of coding involved because of ensuring all scenarios that could yield in errors. User doesnt have driver for cam installed etc. Or the instance where a usb cam is being used verses a bluetooth camera or wireless, etc etc. What a struggle to hard code in if this then that type strings. With android its linux, no issue, or iOs, unix based, both having java involved. However Windows..... thats a dif ballgame heh.
  14. Origional poster. Had a driver issue... So previous versions are ok, but installing 8 yields slow internet? Have you installed a fresh copy of 8, or always upgrade from 7 or similar. I might have missed , plus im on phone, have you used the uninstaller tool to make sure everything is cleared and installed from fresh a copy of 8?
  15. Actually sources say the routers in china might have been what was getting hit and was causing the inconsistent stability of internet there, but attacking either would surely bring them offline spuratically. I actually work for the government now, so my statement was a joking matter. I would never involve myself. My career, as well as it being treason. So its imperative i make myself clear and retract my false joke statement. The Fbi are the investigators with help from other branches, says current sources. I really think the people behind the Sony breach are like Vibers recent foot in mouth. Should have just left it alone. It was fictional after all. Or the movie creator should have left the non comedy parts, out of a comedy lol. just my 2 cents.
  16. Knew it was drivers (OP) Krond maybe you have a driver conflict ?
  17. Yes, they are only used for reproducing an issue during troubleshooting purposes, and finding out where the problem lies. Logging of that type should be disabled. Unless you have a san server saving the logs and you are required to log everything lol.
  18. 175 DC farms hitting every dns server in their country, hahahaha
  19. I honestly have never heard of erac being slapped into an image or applliance for a vm it does create databases and mirrors alike, as well as trusted connections. Is there no way to setup through a msi or anything similar ? I may be out of my league as vm stuff is not my forte, maybe standby for staff or moderator/staff.
  20. The ESET FB app has already helped like 5 personal friends remove bad url links with drive bys. I get approached everyday, and thanked, for MY OWN ESET FB APP, when they dont even have it. Imagined if more followed through. I didnt read the posts here, i am responding from the title. Good day
