Hello, Why do you think nothing else from the list is applicable to you? You can also contact your local ESET support office in order to request the reset code.

ESET Live Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close

The term "access to the Internet" is very vague - it is not only the content of webpages you load in your browser, there is some communication on the background of your programs which transmit some data needed to run correctly, there is a communication by the operating system itself, etc. I would suggest to enable Interactive mode of the firewall and create rules gradually as the prompts pop up.

Hello Dun, The rules are theoretically correct, however, in case you initially (upon the installation of ESS) marked the network as "Home or office network", it is now trusted and this takes precedence over the firewall rules. In order to block traffic on your network, you need to go to Setup > Network protection > Connected networks and mark the network as "Public network". Regards, T.

validation of beta license chore
TomasP replied to yeoldfart's topic in ESET Beta Products for Home Users
Hello, Testing builds of Windows 10 are not supported and various features of our product may not work properly. In order to test our v9 beta products, please use the official release builds of Windows. Thank you. -
Password protect Agent on client
TomasP replied to bbahes's topic in ESET PROTECT On-prem (Remote Management)
Hello, As of ERA 6.2, the Agent is protected by the Endpoint's Self-defense feature, so that it can't be manipulated with. -
Hi, This is technically possible, but it is not straightforward. You would need to export full configuration, then open the XML file manually and delete the rest of the nodes, keeping only the relevant sections. When importing such file, only the desired settings will be affected. In case you use our Endpoint v5 products, you can use ESET Configuration Editor which is distributed with ERA v5 to edit the XML file instead of editing it manually. Regards, T.

Hi V3.Firewall Windows XP is already 14 years old as we speak (and 7 years passed from the last service pack). By the year 2017, it will be 16 years old - which is, if you ask me, much more than not one, but several lifespans of an operating system. And still the year 2017 is not the final decision, see the wording says until "at least" April 2017, so it may be even later. We are already supporting this OS beyond the official support period of Microsoft and will continue to do so while it has a significant market share, but keep in mind that with time, it gets more difficult to provide security software for an operating system that is not patched itself and many new features may require current technology, not present in operating systems from the previous decade. When we decide to end support for Windows XP, we will announce it in advance so that users who still use this outdated OS have enough time to upgrade. Regards, T.

Hello, New computers usually come with a preinstalled trial version of an antivirus software. Before installing ESET Smart Security, it is necessary to check this and uninstall any other security product. In case you can't get to safe mode or access the hard drive and remove the problematic product, I recommend to restore the PC from recovery.

AVG could sell your browse history to 3rd parties
TomasP replied to Morisato's topic in General Discussion
Technically, they are not, it is only the upgrade that is free. But you must have previously bought Windows, otherwise it is still illegal, regardless of the upgrade. -

Hello, We take data privacy very seriously and you can rest assured we have no interest in doing anything similar. As they say, everything that is free comes at a price. -
ERA Agents not connecting to Server
TomasP replied to tomha's topic in ESET PROTECT On-prem (Remote Management)
Thanks, I have submitted it to the developers so that they can have a look at it. -
Please check whether the ESET Root CA was imported correctly to Firefox. In case Firefox was running during installation of ESS, the import failed. In that case, close Firefox, open ESS, press F5 to open advanced setup, go to Web and email > SSL/TLS, uncheck Enable SSL/TLS protocol filtering, press OK, then run Firefox, close it again and repeat the steps to enable SSL/TLS filtering again. The certificate should be imported correctly at this point.

The issue with a version numbering format change was related to ERA 6.1. This issue was fixed and is not present in ERA 6.2. As of now, I am not aware of any other issues that would prevent you from using the latest Java version.
