As suggested above, please open a support ticket with your local ESET distributor. Probably further dumps and logs will be requested by developers for perusal.

I'd recommend opening a support ticket with your local ESET distributor. Probably a kernel or complete memory dump will be needed for perusal. A customer care representative will provide instructions based on recommendations by developers.

You can disable real-time protection via a policy. However, to re-enable it you will need to unassign it from the client.

While the license was issued for ESET Internet Security, the email states it's for ESET NOD32 Antivirus. Also it's registered to a completely different email address as I have already mentioned.

Unfortunately it's not clear what you mean. Neither "parse a flash drive" nor "the program is glorified" makes sense to me. Definition of glorified by Google Translate: represented as or appearing more elevated or special than is the case.

You can use any version which is fully supported. Currently it's version 15.x. It doesn't make sense to use an unsupported version because older versions:
1, May not support the latest version of Windows
2, May not protect you as effectively as the latest version
3, May contains bugs already fixed in the latest version
4, May stop receiving module updates without a prior notice.

Are the clients connecting to the ESET PROTECT server correctly? Is C:\ProgramData\ESET\RemoteAdministrator\Agent\EraAgentApplicationData\Logs\status.html on the clients showing any issues?

Somebody was performing a port scanning. It could be for legitimate reasons if it was done by an administrator.

Windows itself starts a handful of services before Windows GUI appears. ESET must start ekrn as early as possible to keep your computer protected, not only after Windows gui loads.

The application in question is classified by ESET as a potentially unwanted application (PUA). For more information about what PUAs are, please read https://support.eset.com/en/kb2629.

Ekrn and drivers are loaded prior to gui itself so when the splash screen shows up, ESET is already protecting your computer.
