  2. Hello, I don't use Utorrent, but I know that Utorrent has bundled stuff in their software for a longtime, what happened was probably that ESET added detection for this particular PUA. If you want to use this software then you can exclude to keep it from being detected again, but continue to have PUA detections enabled for future detections. You can google "utorrent potentially" to see some of their bundle detection history.
  3. I guess you could say that AMS (Advanced Memory Scanner) is a kind of behavior blocker/monitor/inspector.... I no longer test against malware, but when I did, I saw that AMS was successful at detecting malware shortly after execution that had not been detected by one of the earlier layers in the product. Advanced Memory Scanner complements Exploit Blocker, as it is also designed to strengthen protection against modern malware. In an effort to evade detection, malware writers extensively use file obfuscation and/or encryption. This causes problems with unpacking and can pose a challenge for common anti-malware techniques, such as emulation or heuristics. To tackle this problem, the Advanced Memory Scanner monitors the behavior of malicious processes and scans them once they decloaks in the memory. This allows for effective detection of even heavily obfuscated malware. Unlike Exploit Blocker, this is a post-execution method, which means that there is a risk that some malicious activity could have been performed already. However, it steps into the protection chain when everything else fails. hxxp://www.eset.com/int/about/technology/#advanced-memory-scanner
  4. It's not clear what you mean. Please post a screen shot for better understanding of what issue you're having. I think he believe that ESS will "trust" = scan the software when he opens/execute it (which it will), and once he manage to get it "trusted" (meaning what ?) ESS should not scan it the next time he opens that software, and there should be no execution delay when he opens the software in question the second, third, fourth time. But I don't understand what he means, or what he thinks that ESS actually does, making a software "trusted" = ? Maybe he refer to the cache, smart signatures or ? "I am spending sooo much time keeping ESS firewall trusted on my 2 computers, that I don't have time to keep up with my email..." But where/how does the firewall come into the picture ? Is it about Learning Mode and apps ? Or keeping the ESS firewall "trusted" in some other 3'rd party software ? Not sure
  5. Hello, No, none of the products in the current lineup has a banking feature. But ESET Smart Security V9 (currently in BETA) will have online banking/payment protection.
  6. Hello and welcome to the forum. See this KB article for some answers: hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN3440&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1434562650435

  8. After the first VSD update today at boot, a notification showed up "ESET requires your attention" and clicking on it took me to the main GUI where I saw that a restart was recommended as the product had been updated. And after restarting I got build 9.0.117.0. Very smooth. So does anyone have any info about what has been fixed/changed between the builds ?

  11. More like all the time Shame I can't buy from them
  12. Oh that's lovely, I am no expert as to what colors that might work well or not for people with poor vision, so I thought I could ask to see if there were other colors that would work fine as well
  13. Personally I associate Orange = a small problem. And Red = serious/severe issues. If there was a red dot bouncing and I was a new user of the product I would probably think that the update had failed or something like that, and the product wanted my attention to fix it. Would green or blue work for people with poor vision ? Or some other color ?
  14. No, obviously not. Search the forum and you shall find relevant answers about this. FYI, The search box is located at the top close to the login area. Busted you got me! So, what "actions or decisions" did I defend this time then ?
  15. Hello there and welcome, No, you shouldn't use two software firewalls at the same time. Yes the firewall in ESS is very competent. You could also probably get slightly better system performance running ESS, than a standalone AV + a standalone firewall. It's up to you how much you want to interact with the firewall and how much control you want. The default mode is the automatic mode, and it is the default because it doesn't bother the average user with firewall notifications since not everyone knows what to allow or block when they see a notification. So the default mode is the recommended mode for the majority of users. I take it that you have already uninstalled ZoneAlarm so its out of the way.
  16. I reckon that all of his suggestions and ideas are perfectly realistic and reasonable to him. But I'm not worried, it's not like ESET will take notice and implement any of it, especially when 99% are nothing but made up fancy words taken out of the blue. I guess he has a wild fantasy or something that he get all funny ideas from.
  17. Yes I know that you were referring to that too, as well as the "license will expire" notifications since you have said in the past that you find them a bit annoying, and I showed you that from V9 you can now choose to disabled those notifications, and more, if one would like to do that. Why it can be useful to have "activate your product" in the menu both before and after activation has been discussed earlier, search the forum and you shall find relevant answers about that.
  18. hxxp://www.ghacks.net/2015/06/07/mozilla-needs-to-make-up-its-mind/ Hmmm.....I hope responsible folks at Mozilla reads this article.
  19. Finally, I caved in and I activated an 1year / 3 devices license before expiration and I lost 13 days. Honestly I do not think anyone is listening on this forum for members suggestions: this is still "unfixed" Oh yeah ? Well, you're wrong. Because you see, they do actually listen..... eset.JPG Gee, that's old. Is that just for ESET Smart Security? Glad that they listen or read.... It is a screenshot from the Advanced Setup section in the ESS V9 Beta, I assume these options are available in both NOD32 and ESS. I only Beta test the ESS V9 Beta at the moment so I can't say what it looks like in NOD32, sorry. Though I am pretty sure they are the same, only that NOD32 may have a few less checkboxes than ESS in that list.
  20. My advice is that you choose "keep blocking", I see no reason at all why you should stop blocking. If you would have a router it's very possible it would have taken care of this up front, but since you don't, it goes straight through and the software firewall has to do the job in this case. FYI.... 80.82.70.24 = Suspicious 60/100 IP address has been identified as risky by one/more sources hxxp://zulu.zscaler.com/submission/show/48384a6174aaa58e39242560e4c8bc5b-1433738264

  22. When it's ready for prime time as usual, ESET never give release dates ahead of time
  23. No there is a memory issue/leak (at least on Win XP) right now ekrn.exe is using 540MB of ram ekrn.exe sit at 120-130mb at boot and that's where it pretty much should stay....but it slowly goes higher and higher.
  24. Known Issues • Upgrade from previous versions is not supported - clean installation is required • Reset settings to default doesn’t work • Anti-theft association message cannot be dismissed in some cases • Anti-theft doesn’t send screenshots from webcam and desktop when a device is in missing state • Windows 10: only build 10074 is supported • Windows 10: firewall is blocking network connections / firewall driver fails after reinstall of the application / OS upgrade • Installation of the beta product over different type of product is not supported (ESET NOD32 Antivirus over ESET Smart Security and vice versa) • Firewall troubleshooting wizard counter always shows zero • Help texts are outdated • Banking & Payment protection frame is not always correctly displayed • Importing certificates for SSL scanning to Firefox fails in some cases • Only the latest versions of browsers are supported for SSL scanning • SysInspector crashes on Windows XP
  25. Hmmm there seems to be a memory leak. On the Win XP box ekrn.exe was using 405MB. Right now 215MB and slowly going up again.....
