  1. I have 8.0.319 in XP SP3 and using pre-release updates. You can check my posts in this thread and you'll see that I was kinda affected -> not affected -> affected -> and now I am not affected by the leak again. Been fine for the last 1 and ½ month. Ekrn.exe stays within it's normal (for v8 IMO) range between 120-130mb. I have never seen it consume e.g 150-200mb like Marcos suggests under any circumstances, except when there is a leak, and then it doesn't stop at 200 but slowly goes up up up. It doesn't matter how hard I try to make the leak reveal itself again, ekrn.exe's ram usage just stays normal no matter what. P.R, where are you hiding mate? You see, I wonder how it goes with this... @SlashRose, what OS and product version & build do you use ?

  3. Hmmm tried to post in a thread and the "3 white dots" was showing at the top for 15-20 seconds, and it said "saving post....".....But then nothing happened, no timeout error or anything. So I pressed F5, and when the page had reloaded my post was published in the thread. edit: and of course, this post was published in 1 sec after clicking the "post" button, no waiting (loading) time at all
  4. The easiest and fastest way to check is to look at the dates in the "about" window. For example, the Advanced Antispam Module is more often than not updated every day, at least during Monday-Friday. I also think like stackz. Perhaps not all of the modules is triggering a update notification to show up when it gets updated, but only some of the modules. Advanced antispam module: 2943P (20151217)
  5. This error is once again showing up quite frequently, e.g when trying to post in threads, start new threads or sending a PM. And I believe others are affected as well...as some members are creating identical threads with a few minutes in between, one think that the thread does not get published on the forum when you see the error, so you try to create the thread again and again, but that is not needed since it does indeed get published despite the error showing up in the browser. The 5 most recent threads are identical except for the one including a screenshot. https://forum.eset.com/topic/6967-era-62-installation-issue-with-mysql/ https://forum.eset.com/topic/6968-era-62-installation-issue-with-mysql/ https://forum.eset.com/topic/6969-era-62-installation-issue-with-mysql/ https://forum.eset.com/topic/6970-era-62-installation-issue-with-mysql/ https://forum.eset.com/topic/6971-era-62-installation-issue-with-mysql/ Edit: this post was published within 2 seconds after clicking the button, so no timeout this time.

  7. Hmmm never mind, the leak is back again. Normal for 7 days - and now its back, weird. Never mind. The ekrn.exe ram usage has been completely normal for the past 2 days, no leak here...for the time being

  10. Indeed. IMO, its the software industry - with the OS manufacturers in the lead that creates more problems these days than they actually solve. Like I said elsewhere....
  11. Meanwhile the only workaround seems to be disabling HTTP and HTTPS Scanner. This issue affects 2 notebooks I own, both have MBAM installed, I'll do a quick check if related to MBAM. Edit: Stopping MBAM does not fix the issue. Disabling HTTPS (SSL Scanning) should be enough, no?
  12. When you have updated to V8 or V9, try to activate pre-release updates, reboot, and then use your system as normal but check on ekrn.exe once in a while to see how the ram usages is. If you are still affected, then create the dump that Marcos request. How do I enable or disable pre-release updates in my ESET product? hxxp://support.eset.com/kb3415/ How do I generate a memory dump manually? hxxp://support.eset.com/kb380/
  13. So..... I downgraded to V8 on Oct 29 (latest released build) to make sure there was no leak in this build. The ram usage was normal 120-130mb for the first few days, after that, the usage increased as much as with V9. (I assume one of the modules was updated that caused the leak to affect V8 as well) BUT, since last week the ram usage as been completely normal again, I have tried everything to make it go up and hit the roof, but no, ekrn.exe stays withing the normal 120-130mb. So I wonder if any of the modules released for the products last week had a fix included for the leak as it is no longer happening ? Edit: FWIW, I'm using pre-release updates.
  14. Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I hope everyone will have a great time with family and friends & that the turkey (and everything else) will taste wonderful. For users in N.A.....
  15. Piriform don't provide a slim build of the Pro version do they ? I tried to find one but came up empty handed ):
  16. Yeah. But these suggestions are most likely reasonable to kakashi, that's why he post suggestions like this over and over again (:

  19. If you go into the Scheduler in the GUI (Tools -> More tools -> Scheduler) straight after the install is finished and uncheck the checkbox for the "First scan" which is scheduled to run 20min after install, then it will not start automatically, and you can instead run a scan later on whenever you like.
  20. Leave LiveGrid enabled - but disable both of the "submit" settings (like in the screenshot below) if it is the submission of data that you are worried about. That way, LiveGrid will continue to work, but nothing will be sent to LiveGrid from your computer, and the warning will go away. But this way you won't help to populate LiveGrid with new data, which can be just as important as taking advantage of LiveGrid. Considering how important it is to keep LiveGrid enabled - I start to feel that maybe it would be for the best if the option to totally disable LiveGrid were gone and that it would be mandatory to keep it enabled, but that both of the "submit" settings remains user optional so that every user can disable/enable them as they wish, knowing that some users are very privacy oriented.
  21. Great, what is PCU though? PCU = Program Component Update - they get downloaded via the VSD update channel. thanks man You're welcome man.
