  1. Hello, Did this problem start recently or have you always had issues with the updates in the evening ?
  2. Online chart: hxxp://chart.av-comparatives.org/chart1.php?chart=chart2&year=2015&month=8&sort=0&zoom=2 PDF: hxxp://www.av-comparatives.org/real-world-protection-test-august-2015/

  4. Stable yes, but build 9.0.141.0 is NOT the final. And it's always recommended to uninstall whatever beta build one may have installed once the final is out to start over fresh with the final release, and not install the final over the beta. So unless you want to uninstall the beta once the final is out then I would wait a while longer. It has been stated many times by now that the final will be released in Q4, and lately Q4 have changed to "soon". To all asking for a release month/week/day. Why don't we let ESET finish develop V9 and let them release it when its ready for prime time so they don't rush it out while there's still a few quirks left to be fixed, as that would only result in that people will complain and say they released an unfinished product.

  6. Not fresh from the oven, but hasn't been posted on here yet I believe, so enjoy PDF: hxxp://www.dennistechnologylabs.com/reports/s/a-m/2015/DTL_2015_Q2_Home.1.0.pdf
  7. Not exactly on-topic, but here's two little tools. hxxp://www.softwarecrew.com/2015/09/ashampoo-antispy-is-yet-another-windows-10-privacy-protector/ hxxp://www.softwarecrew.com/2015/08/lock-down-windows-10s-privacy-settings-with-oo-shutup10/ I have not tested any of them personally so I can't comment. Both are free and basically puts together the in-built Win10 privacy settings in one GUI, which can be nice and convenient. Edit: Here's a nice comparison between several Win10 privacy tools, including the two above. hxxp://www.ghacks.net/2015/08/14/comparison-of-windows-10-privacy-tools/ "The following comparison provides you with an overview of these privacy tools highlighting the good, the bad and the ugly for each of them."
  8. Great timing 12:48 - 12:49 Mmm already explained elsewhere - and will probably need to be explained a few times more at least before it's all over and done.
  9. No, 9.0.141.0 is not the final, the final will probably include more fixes, especially since I am waiting to get one of my reported bugs fixed, besides it may not be possible to deliver fixes for all issues via the PCU channel. I always do a clean install of the final, uninstall beta -> install final build. But the beta should auto update to the latest beta build which is 9.0.141.0.
  10. Hello, yes sure that will work. If you know for sure that V7 worked fine with XP SP2 then you can go with it. In the following KB article you will find download links for all earlier still supported* versions. Make sure you download ESS V7 for 32-bit OS. hxxp://support.eset.com/kb2885/ During install make sure you use your newly purchased license (2015) so you don't try to activate using old license credentials. Good luck, I hope it goes well. *Still supported = with VSD updates.
  11. Hello JK, No SP3 also includes many patches that was released earlier on, but many patches were released after SP3 was released so even if you had installed SP3 it would still miss many, but that doesn't really matter as there are unpatched holes today in XP since MS no longer support it. But SP3 would surely patch up quite a bit, and then a few hundred more downloaded via MS update to get XP "fully patched", but still vulnerable due to the holes for were no patch has been released after the EOL date. Yes the "live installer" may be tiny, but it is not the actual program, it's only used to download the actual program which is 70-80mb in size. It would have been convenient if the "live installer" could sense that you use SP2, then it wouldn't even need to start downloading the latest version as it won't install anyway as you experienced.
  12. Oh what a bummer. No fast connection nearby ? The 64-bit package wouldn't have worked out on your 32-bit OS. And if I remember correclty ESET V8 doesn't work on XP 64-bit, only 32-bit. I reckon we had a thread about that before. If there is no easy way for you to get SP3 any time soon. You could actually download and use the last ESET version that is compatible with XP SP2 if you want ? If you can live without a few new features that are included in later versions. At least, it should install fine and the VSDs should get updated normally. It should work fine as your license is not tied to a specific version/year, you can use any version you like from V3 and later. Maybe Marcos could say which ESS version or build that was the last one to include SP2 compatibility ? I assume it was v6 or v7.
  13. Like Marcos said, you must have WIn XP SP3 installed. Not sure how those CDs works, but I assume it downloaded the latest version/build automatically which was not the version that was included on the CD, or if it used the "live installer", never used one of those CDs so I am not sure. Don't know if you're in a town or far out in the Arizona bush with the rattlers. But if you know someone that has a faster internet connection close by neighbour/friend, maybe you could use their connection to download the latest ESS offline installer from eset.com and put it on a USB stick and bring it home. Then you can at least install ESS while in offline mode i.e when you're not connected to the internet, that should cut off a bit of the time as you would only need to update the VSD & modules once you connect the PC to the internet, even if it may still take a while. But first make sure your computer has Win XP SP3 installed, if you don't, then you need to install SP3 first before trying to install ESET again, otherwise the ESS install will fail. Though you may have SP3 installed already and the error could be caused by something else, but that we don't know yet, so you need to check if you got SP3 or not for us. There is no particular XP patch that MS have release that you need to make the install procedure finish that I know of.
  14. Hello, I agree with Puffy on having a pinned thread about it is a good idea as well, as the ESET users that move to (or at least try out) Win10 increase as time goes on since its still fresh and new so many wants to try it out, even if not every user that test Win10 likes it and decides to stay with it.
  15. Build 10532 should be available only on fast ring at the moment. It's not supported yet. Seeing how many times you have to point out the fast vs slow/stable ring in threads during the last couple of weeks. Wouldn't it be a good idea for the KB Team to write a KB article where everything is explained, and why it's not recommended for ESET users to use the fast ring, and if they insist on using the fast ring - also point out what sort of problems they could expect to happen, and so forth. Users may not even know the difference between fast / stable ring, and why they experience problems with ESET - when using the fast ring. Some users seem to think the issue is in ESET software when it's quite clear that it's not, and I don't blame anyone for being a bit confused in this fast/slow/stable/pre-release update mess, especially now when both ESET and WIn10 has a "fast ring/pre-release" update mode. P.S if such KB article already exists then I blame my search terms for not finding it.
  16. The firewall shouldn't bother you if you leave it in the default automatic mode. Complaints on bad website design/layout, payment systems etc.. is something you should send to the reseller or distrubutor that is responsible for the website. They would probably appreciate getting some feedback from you if there is things that they can improve. It obviously shouldn't need to take hours to figure out how to buy a license, or buy the right product, that doesn't sound good.
  17. Ahh right. But I guess it may not be easy for the user to figure that out right away if the updates had been working fine up to that point. I hope the TS contacts the reseller to get this license issue sorted out.
  18. It sounds like you have had this license mix up problem before. Have you contacted the store/website to let them know that you get a ECS license but you thought that you purchased a ESS license ? Maybe if you give the link to the philippine website/reseller (?) to ESET so they can make sure that the right license is sent out for the right product when people try to make a purchase or renew their license.
  19. Yes. Its a trial (test period) so it has to end at some point, this one ends on day 31 since its only valid for 30 days. You will no longer receive any virus signature update (or product updates) after that. You can go and buy a license online and have it ready so you can replace your trial username and password on day 30 and continue to receive updates.
  20. Great! Yes, it was that tool Marcos referred to in Step 4. Good you managed to find the KB article without a direct link.
  21. Since you still are able to make it crash, your computer is not in good health yet. Instead of scanning with 25 different scanners or use tools in the hope to find everything that have sneaked in, and maybe fix stuff manually so it doesn't crash. I would take the fast route to backup everything that you want to keep and scan all those files that you want to keep with more than 1 second opinion scanner to see if anything is detected. Then format your drive and start over from fresh, install the latest version of NOD32 from eset.com and make a full system scan, then let it be and it will do the rest. Some securiy softwares (quite many) is indeed not compatible with each other. (compatibility is up to the user to check before installing) But browser addons such Ghostery does not interfer with ESET in any way, and is fully compatible so you can use that if you like. But there is no need to install Spybot Search and destroy, it WAS good, but is no longer average since a couple years back. Malwarebytes can you have installed and use as an on-demand scanner once a month or something like that if you want. Some use MBAM in realtime, personally I don't think its needed and a waste of system resource alongside ESET, but each to their own. I would format since you have had so many weird issues with system crashes, fake popups, infinite loops, trojans and what else, that you will never know for sure when you have fixed and got rid of everything. You might still have a little undetected bastard sitting in a corner somewhere laughing at you as we speak. Which version of NOD32 did you have installed when it got disabled ? And which version do you have installed now ? And do you have detection of Suspicious, Potentially Unwanted and Unsafe applications enabled ? Have you runned a full system scan since reinstalling NOD32.(the latest version of NOD32 I assume) Regarding Phishing protection, protection and blocking of Phishing websites is already in place in the products since a few version back, and get's updated every 20min.
  22. As expected, it's getting time to look for another supplier .. I mean this issue is only 9+ months old What, so you are not prepared to wait 9 months more I understand how you feel. This issue seems to take a lot of time to get fixed, I hope it get's fixed sooner rather than later.
  23. It's fine. But it's not something I use.
