  1. Hi John I think what you want to know is of these features actually provide any improvements to your protection, and they do (except document protection which is legacy and disabled by default). However the first line of defense is still the signatures. Eset uses DNA signatures which are not simple one to one file matches like in the old days. It also matches files to behavior. The rest of the protection features will be used if something slips past the signatures. So for the main part signatures are what's used and only after that fails will it use the other techniques. And even then stuff like the advanced memory scanner will still display as a normal real-time scanner alert as it simply adds features to the real-time scanner. So it's there for good reason.
  2. Hi I think that for now this only works with the client products, as the products needs to be updated to support the package installer. This might change when Eset server products is released in version 6.4, which should be pretty close now. This is only my own speculation though.
  3. I am happy they are gone, as all our users didnt understand what they were about and just ignored them anyways
  4. I also do think that having 4 editions is way too much. I did like the old 2 editions, and 3 at the top especially as EIS and ESS is the same except the anti-theft which is not that usefull. Both the password manager and secure data seems very basic at best. If I were to choose i would have gone with the traditional EAV and ESS + a new product containing cloud backup solution. So far i will be staying with EAV.
  5. Hi I too have this problem, and it seems that it is your servers having trouble delivering the download within the 2 min, as our very fast connection still downloads very slow from your site. Lookng forward to a fix
  6. I would also like to know if there is any command line options for installing the bundled installer silent?
  7. Sounds great Do you have a changelog? Will we also see a new release for EFS?
  8. As MichalJ already stated, all 3 fixes are in the works, and should be available later this year. I guess that you can use the package installer as a fix too depending on how you deploy Eset. It should be available within a week or 2
  9. SQL express which is included in Eset is free, and you can download it for free from Microsofts site directly
  10. The latest Windows Update breaks GPS and drive mapping. Could it be the case that you are experiencing this because of that update and not Eset?
  11. i am not sure, but have ypu tried this one https://www.eset.com/int/business/server-antivirus/file-security-linux/#download
  12. Great! This is the feature i have been missing the most since upgrading from Eset v5. I know Dynamic group and install tasks can get some close, but it is much easier if its integrated in the same package
  13. Hi It seems like the Endpoint 6.4 has been released with the following new feature: Added: Support for bundle installer when creating installation package from ESET Remote Administrator https://www.eset.com/int/business/endpoint-security/windows-antivirus/#download Do you have any documentation about how to use this?
  14. Submit it as a false positive here hxxp://support.eset.com/kb141/?locale=en_US
  15. Take a look here https://forum.eset.com/topic/6647-access-files-in-20032003r2-very-slow/#entry36710
  16. Try upgrade to EFS 6.3, as I am not sure Outlook 2016 is supported in 6.2 I am running 6.3 with Outlook 2016 in rds just fine, without changing any settings
  17. Hi Windows Phone does not allow antivirus solution, only the old Windows Mobile did. So currently Windows Phone is not supported by any antivirus solutions.
  18. Well, having a lot of features and calling them anti-something is just marketing terms. ESET is fully capable of detecting and removing keyloggers and rogueware. What to you want from WiFi network monitor? ESET already scans all trafic comming from WiFi. Screen locker protection also seems useless. Behaivor detecting is already include with advanced heusterics, DNA signatures and advanced memory scanner. Safe mode protections also does not provide any real value
  19. Hi It may simply be because they are using different versions. 6.3.12004.0 was the first 6.3 release, which were later replaced with an update build called 6.3.12006.0 which fixes some bugs. As you can see here, there actually is an even newer build available hxxp://www.eset.com/int/download/business/detail/family/26/?installer=offline
  20. Hi MichalJ, can you please elaborate on what exactly is used to determine if it malware? Is it "just" considering files downloaded from the internet to more likely be malware?
  21. When running Eset, you should not have Microsoft Anti-Malware running at the same time. Do the client have Microsoft Security Essentials installed, og is Windows Defender enabled?
  22. Hi Ben Server essentials 2011 is in fact just a 2008 r2 with a pretty management tool. So just go ahead and download the 64 bit version and you are good to go.
  23. Hi Currently you would have to backup the SQL database through the SQL management studio. It should however be included in the Era for the next version which hopefully isn't that far away.
  24. While they obviously care about making money, your statement about providing no protection is simply wrong, and serves as a proof that you don't fully understand how this is working. It is simply impossible for a software firewall to protect from ddos, but they can protect from malicious traffic, and this is what Eset and other software firewalls do. They analyzes the traffic patterns, and detect exploits and other stuff like traffic going to C&C servers. This very useful. Software firewalls have a clear advantage here, as they know what processes and services are causing this traffic. A hardware firewall doesn't know this, and therefore ca not provide the same amount of insight. Think of it like this: you have bought a pizza, that you need to get sliced so you can share it with your lovely wife. You have brought a hammer to do this, and is not very good at it. The next day you go the the store and complain about how the hammer being bad at slicing pizza. The guy's at the store knows this, and recommends you to buy a knife instead as it is made for slicing stuff. The bottom line is that it is not because it isn't working, it's because you have the wrong tool. A software firewall is not supposed to protect you from a ddos, so of course it is bad at it. Nor will it ever be good at it, as it not its purpose, and it can only protect you from the traffic that reaches your computer, which is most likely less than 1% of the traffic that's coming from the ddos.
