  1. Thanks!! I assume I need to goto ESET's website and type in my serial number to get a username and password to activate it? https://www.eset.com/us/activate/ I would go there, correct? Yes Then your countdown starts. So do that when your trial is up. Then install version 7 and use provided username/pass.
  2. There is no problem. You can only run and use 3 licenses at the same time. You get as many installs as you need. Your current license will be accepted into your new HD.
  3. Well you cant add directories for application modification detection, so your second option isn't possible. In the list of applications excluded from checking, you will need to add the "remoting_host.exe" No matter if it gets moved to a different directory, the exe will still be located in the modification checking, so if things change, eset will ignore the changes and continue to allow the programs activity. If i am wrong in this being a solution, Google might be giving you an EXE with a totally different signature and hash for the "remoting_host.exe" . This will really create an issue with excluding full time. You can add directories to be excluded from disk level with wild cards *.*, and memory level protection for the antivirus and antispyware, but for network level traffic, ESET may always ask you what you are doing for the interactive mode on new connections with new applications every time by design. Are you able to verify the network addresses being used back and forth with your remote connections ? You may be able to add a subnet as trusted or similar so regardless of the application, it is allowed. I may not have been much help, i would continue to wait for a suggestion from staff on your dilemma.
  4. Application modification detection for chrome should be excluded. Might solve your issue.
  5. I like what Swex stated, and i have to add on top of it. A browser is a basic tool for looking around, it doesn't matter which one you use, there is no security embedded in a browser, aside from the no script and disable addon features, ignore java, block flash etc. Install an addon like adblocker, which still wont keep viruses out. The built in security features located under Control Panel > Internet properties, has more security features to keep you off bad sites, then any of the other browsers out there. You have to procure a decent security product that will watch the traffic coming in and out of whatever browser you decide to use. That is where ESET comes in.
  6. As I said, the "Require full administrator rights for limited administrator accounts" setting is unchecked. The limited user still gets the UAC prompt after logging in. Note that this happens when the limited user logs in, not when he tries to modify any settings. norey, the only thing that option is for, is accessing setup for ESET's program. It requires limited accounts to enter a user name and password of an account with full admin privileges just to enter setup. Admin accounts don't receive a prompt when entering setup, and they always receive a prompt when adjusting a setting that interacts with core windows services. The prompt you are getting is totally different and probably reacts with services enough to require an admin account. You will need to turn off your UAC in windows or provide the limited account with the permissions for whatever is occurring to stop your login prompt.
  7. No they do not. You can reinstall as many times as you like using the same account, yet may only have the equal number of computers running the software as your license count.
  8. Norton, don't like the guy very much. Software, its just too bloated now and i don't know a single PC that it will run nicely on. Their security researchers and business department is actually not that bad. All Home products are pewp
  9. Microsoft Windows, wont even run or work correctly without IE, don't believe me? Try to uninstall it. Don't worry i'll wait hehe. ( Deleting iexplore.exe doesnt count ) Its like a Shell of windows explorer. Microsoft has always released security updates, as well as version updates for Internet Explorer. We are on version 11 now. If you are still on windows XP, its time to migrate off as it actually does NOT have anymore security updates or patches coming from Microsoft. Windows 7 and 8 no longer apply updates through IE.
  10. Swex, does it happen more prevalently when using quotes ? Or does it even matter ?
  11. A bundled package build with ERA is going to contain 32 bit and 64 bit versions, as to avoid deployment headaches.
  12. Well if its in zip then its compressed. Are you comparing msi packages ? Or nup files ?? Are you talking about a definition update ? Can you be more specific as to which update ? Give version numbers and steppings if you know them. ie 5.01.1.1
  13. Hi Ryul, I recommend deleting your current rules on the game, whatever you have, and then re-try learning mode as Swex suggested, as some turn faulty or if the application is modified in some way, the old rules no longer work and new ones have to be created. (Deleting of old, must occur).
  14. Hey Nizrax I wanted to respond to your quote here I would have to say, that i too have seen this from time to time, however it is not with every program i use, only some. I suspect that the problem isn't with ESET, but that the program does not proceed if the query is not answered in a timely manner, or after a certain number of attempts, resulting in a rotation of closing the program, and relaunching after the rule is created. I have experienced many programs where developers don't account for situations like this. In these types of situations or programs, the directories have to be excluded up front, and the rules created up front as well. Although, Interactive and learning modes sure are the easiest and fastest way to get your rule created.
  15. Are you able to login and see your desktop in safemode ? Can you run the Uninstaller at all ? Something may be amiss with Windows XP or your safemode backend, which would be a different issue then ESET product. We may still be able to help you, can you provide screenshots or explain in more detail what it is you are seeing ? Where the error is coming from ? If its asking for your local profile username, you have to pick the one you login with normally followed by your password if requested. If you cannot get around this, there are a few things we could also do below : 1. Turn on the local administrator account and login to that account in safemode. 2. Remove the password from your normal profile if you do not know it. However if your msgina has been altered somehow , that is a different story. The full screen mode for XP in safemode should still give your normal user accounts for logging on.
  16. Although my subscription and passion for ESET started on version 4, i enjoyed your nostalgia. +1 Very nice. I don't think there is enough ESET representation in that old icon though. Version 7, definitely. I do miss the eye or radar icon though, neither of which change or represent the software functionality though, which is what is important to me. I feel that GUI objects similar to icons and banners, should be at ESET's full discretion, they should make it look exactly as they would want it to look or what makes them proud ! We get our two cents in with features, changes, options, additions, etc etc.
  17. Right This is the one i used hxxp://possible.lv/tools/hb/
  18. hxxp://possible.lv/tools/hb/?domain=form.eset.com Had to do it, someone brought up this site earlier lol
