Win32/Wowlik.C trojan
Marcos replied to Hapkido's topic in ESET Internet Security & ESET Smart Security Premium
I don't think that Wowlik and Sirefef are related to each other. Make sure you have the most current signature database 8924 installed and run a full disk scan. Also I'd recommend upgrading to ESET Smart Security version 7 via "Check" or "Check for update" button in the Update panel. -
Since we already have an announcement here, we'll draw this thread to a close.

Client does not show up in the ERA
Marcos replied to Darius's topic in ESET PROTECT On-prem (Remote Management)
I'd suggest checking the ERAS log to see if both clients attempt to connect or only the one which appears in ERAC. Do both clients use the very same ERAS settings? -
Protection for Surface / Surface Pro on Windows RT?
Marcos replied to webyourbusiness's topic in ESET Endpoint Products
ESET products require a x86 / x64 (CISC) compatible processor to run. ARM architecture (RISC) is not supported. -
Protocol filtering is disabled in server products by default to prevent issues stemming from bugs in Windows Filtering Platform (BSOD, memory leaks, etc.) and to avoid excessive memory consumption if a higher number of connections is created at a time.

Unable to update ESET database
Marcos replied to Near_Far's topic in ESET Internet Security & ESET Smart Security Premium
We'd prefer to assist you with troubleshooting the issue rather than fixing it by hitting the Clear cache button. If we are able to determine the cause, we can take measures to prevent it from happening again on your or other computers. -
If you want to connect from everywhere, create a new allowing bi-directional rule with the local port set to 3389 (or whichever you'll use). You can restrict remote IPs or subnets on the Remote tab. Don't forget to switch the firewall to "Automatic mode with exceptions" so that custom rules are applied.

Please create a dump of ekrn.exe via the Task manager (Create Dump File) when you notice a memory leak, compress it, upload it to a safe location. When done, drop me a pm with the download link.

Why is ESET failing so bad?
Marcos replied to Super_Spartan's topic in ESET Internet Security & ESET Smart Security Premium
Not sure where you heard that but the interval is bigger. -
This is due to a certain condition applied by the emulator. We're working on a solution which will prevent files like this from being flagged by advanced heuristics which should be released soon (ie. within a few days).

ESET Endpoint AV 5.0 not recognized by Windows 7 Action Center
Marcos replied to rpremuz's topic in ESET Endpoint Products
This would be possible but only with Self-defense disabled (e.g. by applying an ERA policy). You could then apply a GPO which will remove the above mentioned registry key and eventually you'd enable Self-defense again. -
Please report the alleged FP to ESET as per the instructions here and enclose information about the purpose of the software and the official download url to a beta or final version of the software. The software must perform some operations or activities that are evaluated as suspicious by advanced heuristics.

you arrived late to the party. I suggest you read the entire thread and you will see that I was already provided with a solution instead of just posting nonesense I agree , you should really ask a question before posting nonsence. Getting angry and typing nonsence on a public forum, when things don't work to your timescale wont get you anywhere. We explained what was unclear and Tweak Arena apologized. We'll draw this thread to a close.

Yeah, it's been a common practice to release products on smaller markets first so that potential fixes can be implemented before releasing it to larger markets. Although beta versions are tested thoroughly both internally and by thousands of beta testers, it's never possible to simulate all system and program configurations. As for support for new operating systems or service packs, ESET has always offered support for them at the time they became available to the public. In the case of Windows 8.1 build 9600, HIPS module 1095 was released for all users on September 30 and Anti-Stealth module 1052 on September 9 and no known issues with Windows 8.1 have been reported yet.

Smart Security V6 Bugs.
Marcos replied to neo's topic in ESET Internet Security & ESET Smart Security Premium
It was confirmed by developers that no changes were made between v5 and v6 in terms of saving the configuration to the data file so it's weird why it occurs only with v6.
