I've asked tech support about this and will reply with what they say. The "ACT.##" errors are activation errors (obviously) and we are documenting these in the following ESET Knowledgebase article: I received an activation error while installing my ESET product—what does it mean? My QA tester reminded me that if you have just clicked "Integrate into system" that you need to do a computer restart before continuing. After doing the computer restart, the Populate did detect all connected devices on our test machine.

@rekun, the "official" changelog (in quotes because it is possible that something could change between now and then) will posted to the Download page on Tuesday. Corresponding content (besides news releases) have already been published as well. We still have this content available (via google search and direct URL), but we have removed it as an alert because the prevalence of the issue (via technical support) has decreased significantly. Issues downloading updates in previous versions of ESET Endpoint products (5.x) You should probably contact your local ESET partner for support to troubleshoot.

I'm not sure about the network connection issue, but you can temporarily pause Banking & Payment protection in ESS to troubleshoot: [pause] or disable Banking & Payment protection in ESET Smart Security

I too have this question as I typically just send the wakeup call, and it always works so I don't question it, but I agree that it could be useful to be able to test it/see that is going through. From a support tech I also heard that you can use wireshark listening on a target client, then look for a packet from the ERAS that is addressed to the LAN's broadcast address. Any other methods?
