  1. But I thought that ESET had fixed the issue that tommy456 describes in V6 already. Or was that something else since I remember the discussion about this on the old forum
  2. Like Avast you mean with all the shields and modules? if Yes, then I would have to disagree, I have always thought that having everything tightly integrated is one of ESET's strong parts. But that has nothing to do with the choices in the menus though
  3. If ESET would re-design the product to use less RAM and more HDD, it would not result in a product that is lighter on your system. Edit: here is a quote from Marcos....
  4. My ekrn.exe is using 96MB at the moment on XP SP3. Just like the last version 512 FTW or Not
  5. I just tried, and it loaded fine, but 5 sec later it crashed my Browser. Safari 5.0.5 for Win on XP. I believe it was the Flash player (as usual) that caused the browser crash.
  6. Always have always will But if I upgrade from V7 build 302 to 305 or whatever I always do these from within the product as they are just minor changes/improvements for the most part. But from V7 to V8 then I would do a clean install yes.
  7. Same here! @ali If you want a sanbox like program, then you should take a look at Sandboxie (hxxp://www.sandboxie.com/) wich is very popular among those who want or already use a sandbox type program. @Admin. Once again my message disappeard after I clicked on the post button!!!
  8. Thanks Marcos. I found it, and I had looked in there before posting my question, but I didn't figure out they were associated with this feature. I was focused on finding "Vulnerability Shield" or any option mentioning that word but I couldn't find any so that's why I needed to ask. All checkboxes were checked by default so that's good and I will leave them that way.
  9. Yes it's worth the jump, the few kinks that needed to be worked out has been worked out in my experience. This build is great, fast, and stable. I am not sure what reviews you are looking for though? And if you have been happy with V6 then I believe you'll be just as happy with V7 too.
  10. Hello hello. I am just wondering if there is supposed to be any setting/option enabled/disable anywhere in the advanced setup tree connected to the Vulnerability Shield? I don't want to disable it, but since I don't see it mentioned anywhere I am wondering if something went wrong with my installation. I think I have looked everywhere but I might have missed it. Thank you
  11. It's not a big issue as it only takes 2 sec more to browse to the Update section in the GUI. But yes I agree it is useful to have "check for updates" it in the traymenu. And I wouldn't mind to see it make a comeback.
  12. Uninstalled the Beta(104) to make a fresh install, I always do that with major updates. And I am glad to see that my bug is nowhere to be seen. And I must say that this build feels very nice. Good job as always ESET!
  13. Hi kevvyb. Sorry to hear about your issue. FYI I have a very slow machine compared to yours, and I do not have this issue. If you put your cursor on the blue circle in the tray when it is spinning what does the little popup say that it does, is it updating, or that a start-up scan is running, or? In anycase, It shouldn't take several minutes like you say it does but let's see what ESET says.
  14. AdMuncher is a popular ad-blocker too wich works in many browsers. hxxp://www.admuncher.com/
  15. Not sure where you heard that but the interval is bigger. Ok here it is: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2200547&postcount=14 Though you didn't say every 3-5 min, but "every few minutes". It was these updates I was referring to. But maybe you thought I meant some other type of updates?
  16. Not sure where you heard that but the interval is bigger. Hmmm if you say so then I believe you. But since you asked, it was actually you that mentioned it in a thread over at Wilders, when the official forum was hosted over there. I will try to find that post but it wont be easy. You said something like this when we were talking about advantages in newer version, V5 get's these updates once an hour when it checks for an VSD update, but in V6 they can come as frequent as every 2-5 min. And I said that's really nice to know. As I said, I will do my best to find the post so no misunderstandings is happening here. I don't know if this is secret or not, but can't you say the interval if it now is bigger than 3-5 min, so we don't have to guess or wonder more about this. And to correct me so I don't need to look stupid
  17. As Janus said, you can use wich browser you want since there are no browser plugins involved so you will have the same level of protection in all browsers. I don't use HitmanPro Alert myself (though I have read about it), but if you haven't experienced any issue while using HitmanPro Alert during the last week, then I would say that you can continue to use it if you want. P.S Yes you did ask the browser question a couple weeks ago but it doesn't matter if you are unsure then ask again -> Better safe than sorry Chris Cheers
  18. @NYCCaribou If everything else fails, doing an uninstall followed by a fresh install without importing any settings is always worth a shot.
  19. But everyone doesn't accept, respect, and understand that, wich is why some people get angry about it, or just confused on the whole situation, unfortunately. But explaining usually helps a bit
  20. No we can stop now, all I know is that it is perfectly fine for my needs, and that it does it's job well. I just thought that maybe you wanted to let ESET know what you didn't like to let them improve it. But if you use a 3'rd party FW that you like wich plays well with ESET, Bullguard, or WSA then there's no need to change
  21. I always shutdown at night, there's no reason not to. Yes I have heard all the stories from people who never shutdown because of this or that. Scared that the Harddrive will brake at startup... Or a study shows....yeah whatever. Each to their own I guess
  22. Cause some of us like to use better firewalls. Better? I haven't found the firewall in ESS to be bad, the opposite actually. The way I use it is that I make sure all programs I want to be able to connect have rules created for them, then put the firewall in policy based-mode, that way it won't bother you and it doesn't allow any connections in/out unless there is a rule for it. So what's not good about it do you think?
  23. My opinion is that the Youtube tests is not any better than the Org tests, but that's a different discussion. Anyhow, the new AMS in V7 (Advanced Memory Scanner) is real-time based, before it was used only at start-up or when an on-demand scan was runned. But now it does it's job all the time. And ESET products do have real-time cloud powered updates, the product get's small updates every 2-5 min since V6. HTH Well, I learned my "new" thing for the day B)! Thanks SweX. Now it's time to go buy some landscaping stone . Haha you're welcome, just spreading the word. Yeah that's a nice change doing other things than what we do in here clears your head. Sitting on your bum infront of a monitor all day isn't good....I never do that
