  1. Thank you for supplying me with some details SweX. I'm presuming it is ThreatSense/LiveGrid or is this something else? That I don't know actually, it may be connected to LiveGrid in one way or the other. Maybe ESET can tell us more if we ask kindly....All I know is what I have said above. ThreatSense is the engine that powers all ESET products. And LiveGrid is an improved version of the old ThreatSense.Net telemetry system. And the way I see it is that if ESET didn't want us to know about this function or even talk about it then they shouldn't have mentioned it in the first place. Wich is why I let people know about it when I see questions that are wondering about, or wish that the product would get such functionality when it already does. They shared the info in an open forum so everyone could read it so I am just spreading the word so to speak.
  2. Yes. If others want to see the official answer straight from the source look here: https://forum.eset.com/topic/1120-i-just-switched-to-kaspersky-internet-security/?p=6013 Just incase someone have missed it
  3. Yeah, though that doesn't only happen on the Kaspersky forums from what I have seen. Some are very strict when it comes to discussions about the competition.
  4. Hello SweX, Where can I read about the 'cloud' updates? It's the first I've heard of ESS having such a feature. Cheers. Hello TJP Unfortunately you can't read about this official anywhere that I have found as of yet, I know this only because an ESET Mod as mentioned it a couple of times. But, I have suggested to ESET (in a thread some where on here, I can't find it now) to at least mention it like a feature or something on the product page on ESET.com. As I think it is useful to know, since many users think that the VSD (virus signature updates) is the only type of updates that the product gets, wich obviously isn't true. Bitdefender may release signature updates every hour or there about = 20-24 sig updates perday. ESET may release 3-5 VSD's per day....that's way too few some users say compared to other vendors. But these users are not aware of the small updates that come unnoticed every 2-5 min to the product. And one of the reasons that so few people knows about this is simply because...there's no info about that such functionality exists in the product to be found official anywhere, like on eset.com. But now you know anyway, I don't know exactly why they don't speak about it more openly or explain it like a feature on the website, but if they don't want to write about it in a more public way then I respect that.
  5. My opinion is that the Youtube tests is not any better than the Org tests, but that's a different discussion. Anyhow, the new AMS in V7 (Advanced Memory Scanner) is real-time based, before it was used only at start-up or when an on-demand scan was runned. But now it does it's job all the time. And ESET products do have real-time cloud powered updates, the product get's small updates every 2-5 min since V6. HTH
  6. Cheers, though I am not sure discriminatory is what it is exactly, but it surely makes users confused and customers starts to wonder why they do it this way. And that alone shows that there are better ways to launch a new version. I mean ESET would surely prefer if their users would be excited about the new version Yayyyy!!!!, and not pissed because of a silly release schedule I like the way you put it :-) I agree Cheers again. Well I try to see it from the other side, that if ESET would have known that the pressure from current customers to get their hands on V7 after that they have found out that it had been released in Germany plus the other countries would be of this magnitude, getting angry over it, or changing to other products. Then they would probably never even have thought about a release schedule like this.
  7. Ill keep it handy to install for other family members , or sell it if anyone's interested, the key has been activated yet, 3 years / 3 PCs Yeah you can give it as present to someone you....love or hate I don't know Haha well, if you ask over at the Kaspersky forum i'm sure someone will bite if the price is good...below retail
  8. thank the lord someone sees my point finally and doesn't bash me for my legitamate request!! I need an official answer from ESET staff not people bashing me who are ESET fanboys and blindly defend them! I support ESET, but I am not a blind fanboy If it is me you are calling a fanboy, well I love the software and if that is all it takes to be called a fanboy then I can do nothing about it. Note. I have NOT said that I agree with this release schedule, and I would surely not do it this way if I were the one to plan a release for a new version. In other words we do agree on that this isn't the best possible way for current customers to get the new version. And all I am trying to understand is if this is enough for a user who clearly likes the software as you say and owns a 3 year license for it, to stop using it plus cash out more money for another product because it isn't released when expected, and it turns out it is. I am not a blind ESET follower. I am just respecting their decision in this whole release debate that's all. But I don't agree with it as I already said. OK? Yes it does apply here, it's not about what the biggest language is, or where the most ESET users are. I think the reason is, that the marketing campaign and all that comes with it, was done ready and set for the German market and the other countries too, wich is one reason why it was released early there. And the English launch may be delayed simply because thy're not ready for that launch yet. But I could be wrong. All I know is that I can't change this by getting upset about it. But yes a worldwide launch is what I prefer, and I am not alone in wanting that I assume. In that case, I respect your opinion, thanks for clarifying Very good, cased closed then And you're welcome
  9. Hello Tweak Arena, We are really sorry to see you go. We fully understood your concerns, but we feel responsible to respond to your suggestions. ESET works closely with its partner network to meet any local market requirements as well as launch dates. We are open to agreement with our local partners on individual launch dates when the situation requires so and technical readiness allows. The current release version of ESET home products 6.0.316 is fully compatible with Windows 8.1. After installation and activation, your ESET product will update the modules to the most current version to ensure smooth operation on Windows 8.1 (a computer restart will be needed). ESET Version 7 BETA will update to the final version automatically without uninstalling (same registry keys and files on the disk will be used), so you don’t have to worry about it messing up the registry on your freshly installed OS. regards, Marcos thanks a lot! I wish I had known this before, I wouldn't have created many angry threads! installing the Beta now I guess you asked the wrong questions So what about the Kaspersky license...going into the bin or what?
  10. I promise I won't tell anyone, except the ones that have been asking asking and asking people. A few here and there. Edit: Sorry how rude of me, I forgot to say thanks a lot for sharing this info with us!

  12. I believe the current color codes are as the following: HIPS - Orange PUA/PUP/PSA*(?) - Orange Threat - Red FW Outbound - Green FW Inbound - Red (unless the connection is from the Trusted Zone, then it's green as well) New Network Detection - Blue I think the orange color is fit for the PUA/PUP but for HIPS some new color might be needed, blue can be used because AFAIK it's only used by the firewall when a new network is detected and that's a completely different looking dialog, but again any other color can be used, blue was just an example. Yeah I believe you're right on the current colors that are used.

  14. No, self-defense (as Marcos suggested) can you disable in the setup-tree, not via the tray menu.
  15. Yeah when you put it like that, I agree. I wouldn't mind if the PUP notification color would be changed to something that get's the users attention, but would also show that it's not a severe malware detection (so not Red anyway). Maybe light purple to make it different. Edit: What's the firewall notification color now again....Orange or Light Blue is it not? (I can't check myself at the moment) Forget it... I think It's Green if I remember correctly I wouldn't mind if the PUP/PUA, HIPS, and Firewall notification windows, would be in 3 different colors.
  16. Hello MrHacker, I just want to let you know that ESET have mentioned that a new GUI is in the works so it will change sooner or later.
  17. You mentioned before that you installed Avast free, wich would mean that you installed Avast Free then you uninstalled Avast to install Kasperky that you now have done. How did this mess less with your registry instead to wait for the Eng final of V7. Not that it actually have messed with your reg, but we can pretend that it did. In any case, a good uninstaller would do it's job and clean up the Reg for you, and all that's left (sometimes) is a few empty folders that is easy to delete. Or in rare cases the need to manually uninstall a left over driver or two. What do you mean by -> "Being with no protection", V6 is the latest fully supported version of ESET. That would have provided you with protection equal to V7. But it was your choice to not use the latest stable version, and you clearly didn't want to use beta software. Well if you didn't feel safe while using ESET then I can understand that you changed. Good luck with Kaspersky, though since you have your 3 year ESET license left you can always use it again if Kaspersky starts to disappoint you. The truth is that I will never understand why you maked sucha big deal about it when there is no problem or issue with the software itself to begin with. The only thing you had issues with was the release schedule, and that you would have been more happy if the Germans and users in the other countries in wave1 that got V7 would have needed to wait just as you, since you said that it's not fair. It's not just to put a downloadlink for V7 on the website. There's more to it than that, like marketing campaigns, on the Internet, and in Magazines etc etc... Example -> Honda may release a new car model in Japan first, and other countries to follow. Fact -> Sony will release the PS4 in the U.S. first, and in their home country Japan as late as february. Fact -> ESET includes a few countries in wave1 for the V7 release and other regions will follow.
  18. Hi Wortex. FYI we have an ongoing thread about it here: https://forum.eset.com/topic/1049-eset-v7-final-released-in-germany/
  19. If you mean specifics on what have changed in a module then no. It's not really worth knowing as they are just fixes and/or improvements to the module. But you can of course see when a module was updated by clicking on the tray icon -> "e" then -> "about" The only thing pre-release does is that you will receive module updates a tad earlier than if you were to use standard update servers. And by doing this, if you have a problem wich a current module, and you are on pre-release, and a new module is released including a fix, then you will get it faster than if you would use standard update servers. But as I said, it's not like they are some kind of "beta" modules, as they are tested in-house before they are put on the pre-release servers, and I have not got any big problems by using pre-release. But if you don't lose anything in terms of protection by using standard update servers either, so use the one you feel most comfortable with.
  20. The short answer is that some people feel that they don't want/need the antispam, and/or use another 3'rd party firewall.
  21. @Chris But don't keep the "log all blocked operations" enabled for long periods as it is only meant to be used when troubleshooting as stackz mention above. Since if one keep it enabled all the time the log can quickly grow into several GB of data. I thought it could be worth posting this incase anyone else have it enabled when they shouldn't
  22. I just post the link to the new thread here just in case: https://forum.eset.com/topic/1103-eset-nod32-antivirus-business-edition-install-issue/#entry5887
  23. You can continue to use Pre-release even after the final has been released if you want
  24. Too bad you lost your patience. I hope you enjoy Avast. If ESET users want to block ads there are several reliable browser addons that does that job fine. Like Adblock plus that Avast use as their source for their ad-blocker.
  25. I think what Marcos means is that previously this form of memory scanning was only available during startup and on-demand scans. The limitations with this approach is that memory detection is reliant on a single snapshot of the memory. Now with it being available as a real-time detection, it is better able to detect suspicious and/or malware like behaviour patterns. Yep that's exactly how it was before, so yes this is a great improvement "thumb up"
