  1. Again today it has happened two times, one svchost.exe process used 99% CPU. First time I restarted as that has helped before, but it started again after the restart so I waited a while longer to see if I could spot any connection to this in the task manager, and I did see that the startup scan was running but it never finished it was running and running, it took at lot of time over 2 Min until it was done. So the startup scan could very well be part of the problem here. Usually the startup scan finishes in between 3-10 seconds, but today it runned for 2,28Minutes. And all this time that svchost.exe process used 99%CPU and everything became slow because of that obviously.
  2. To answer your question. Yes ESET does detect this sample as: Win32/Filecoder.BQ https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/d765e722e295969c0a5c2d90f549db8b89ab617900bf4698db41c7cdad993bb9/analysis/1378914319/
  3. I don't think an explanation is needed for this video! hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQYch2FgenE
  4. This is the malware he talks about: hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uzl_h-Nc8Ps YouTube link found in this thread: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=353171
  5. Hi Jake. The statistics will increase by one number with every object that is scanned, that's just normal, obviously. What do you mean with that exactly, are you referring to ekrn.exe? If YES, then that's totally normal too. But to the question, why do you want to disable the realtime protection ? Are you having performance issue or something else? Anyhow, it's better that you work with ESET to fix the problem that you got (if you actually have a problem) then disabling the realtime protection.
  6. Hi Aryeh. No I don't think so (well not today the second time anyway), as the ESS V7 BETA has been installed 30-40 days, and as I said it has only happened two times, the day it was installed, and then again today. And the svchost.exe process just stays at 95-99% CPU usage there's no way stopping it as far as I have found, and in both cases I made a restart to make it stop and it was back to normal after the restart.
  7. Hmm I just had the problem when an svchost.exe process started to use 95-99% CPU again. And the only way to get it sorted was as I say in the quote above to restart. After that it's just fine. First time it happened was the same day I installed the ESS V7 BETA. (104) And then again today 3-10 min after I turned the PC on. But there is no way I can re-produce this just like that, considering that I have probably turned off, and turned on the PC 30-40 times since it happend the first time. OS is WinXP SP3.
  8. Yes you can, only be sure to chose 64-bit OS on the link below and you will be good to go hxxp://www.eset.com/us/download/home/detail/family/2/#offline Edit: cross posting.... my link is for the offline installer (wich I prefer), but you can also follow what AlexJ say above of course.
  9. Hello FWIW see this post: https://forum.eset.com/topic/868-eset-ss-win81/?p=4730
  10. Sorry to hear about your problem. The best way to get it sorted is probably to follow what Marcos says above. And/or, you could try the V7 BETA to see if you experience the same thing with it too, or not. (though you may want to wait a few days as I have heard a new BETA for V7 is on it's way) HTH
  11. Haha yeah I am sure it will . Several members on another forum is using Fanboy's list, but nah it's not something I want or need at the moment anyway. Maybe later we'll see
  12. To put it short. With a valid ESET Smart Security license you can use any version of ESS or NOD32 Antivirus that you want. With a valid ESET NOD32 Antivirus license you can use any version of NOD32 that you want.
  13. Hmmm...Not sure, but the new Vulnerability Shield in V7 (only in ESS) could be a good contender for this I guess. We haven't heard much about how VS works or it's exact purpose, but I am sure ESET can tell us some more if we ask kindly?
  14. I have stopped bother with the tracking cookies, and other cookies too, I close the browser run ccleaner and/or clean via the browsers options, and then the next day I browse my daily sites the same cookies come to visit me again, everyday they come to visit me (they like me very much, but I have told them that I dont like them at all, they don't listen ). What I am saying is, I clean them out, they come back the next day, I clean them out, they come back....and so it continues. So I don't make a big deal about it, it would be a different story if one would not be able to clean them out, but since we are able to do so quite easily I don't care much about them. Good evening
  15. You can use them, there is no browser plugin involved that ESET need to make compatible with every browser on the market for you to get good protection online. Use whatever browser you want it doesn't matter
  16. 1Min support not bad I must say Marcos Yes as Marcos says, protection in all browser. I want to add -> Without any stupid addons, plugins, toolbars etc etc..... Several vendors uses plugins for their web protection, wich in many cases won't work to 100% in all browser since the vendor needs to make the plugin work with the browsers that they want the web protection to work in, and in return if you use some other browser other than the major 4 IE, Chrome, Opera, Firefox, the plugin will most likely not work correctly and in return neither will the web protection. But nothing of the above is to be found anywhere in ESET's products wich is yet another huge reason why I really enjoy using and like their software as much as I do, wich is a lot
  17. I see. Your issue with egui crashing is resolved in the next beta which should be made available within a few days. Fantastic! I can't wait to try it out. Thanks for letting me know.
  18. No egui.exe doesn't crash when I run/use CCleaner, I am talking about the issue that I provided the dumps for in the PM conversation we had 2 weeks back, that when I try to access the stup-tree egui crashes and thus, i am not able to configure anything as of yet. e.g like disabling AMS for a test. So CCleaner or AMS does not make egui crash I just want to make that clear
  19. You asked the same question here : https://forum.eset.com/topic/864-when-will-eset-7-become-available/
  20. Your link goes to Wikileaks and not Wikipedia, but just a typo haha Thanks.
  21. hxxp://www.f-secure.com/weblog/archives/00002601.html OK this is getting really annoying now, the background color always comes with the text you want to copy&paste, this is not the first time. And it's very annoying but I don't find any setting inhere that I can change to get black text only, without the background!!! Black text is all I want Anyhow, I wanted to share this as it is rather disgusting, even if it comes from a competitor to ESET I figured it would be OK anyway, as I think it is important to share interesting and disturbing news like this. Not that it is the first time we hear about FinFisher, and certainly not the last.
  22. Just a tip, if English isn't your first language, or you don't write/read and understand English very well. You could use something like Google Translate to write your message in your own language and then translate it to English, and post the translation here. hxxp://translate.google.com/
  23. Well there have been several occasions when I have wanted to de-link live links to possible malware sites, but since I am unable to do that, reporting the post and write a short message was all that could be done until an ESET Mod get's online and see that someone has reported that post. But that's not really the members fault as all they want to know is, why ESET blocks access or detects a threat on their website, and what can be done about it. Though, I have never seen this problem where a new member requests what can be considered sensitive information from another member on the ESET forum. But that's not good of course...
