  1. hxxp://www.av-comparatives.org/mobile-security-review-august-2013/ ESET is included of course
  2. +1 for you to mate, yes it's one of these "second opinion" tools that may come in handy sometimes, along with MBAM and HitmanPro for example. B)
  3. Hmmm interesting, and good to know that CCleaner sometimes don't clean out all of them, even so it's not a big deal as they will come back next time I visit that same website, unless you use a program that scans the website content and blocks the tracking cookies at the source on the website, so they would never enter the system. And even now when I know that CCleaner may leave some of them behind, it's not a reason big enough to use SAS only for that purpose. But the repair function is nice I can agree on that. In any case, thansk for sharing the info (and correcting me) regarding that CC sometimes leave some of them behind. FWIW. I have also had SAS installed for more than 5 years (it is still installed but it's not updated because I don't use it), but I have never needed to use it for the more serious stuff, or even MBAM for that matter. Mr E always does the best job before it turns ugly I think this has turned into a SAS thread......
  4. Good question Swex here is the log 8/24/13 11:50:46 AM Real-time file system protection file /Users//Downloads/complete/_UNPACK_TTC-Video-Transformational-Leadership.rar/TTC Video - Transformational Leadership.exe a variant of MSIL/TrojanDropper.Agent.SY trojan cleaned by deleting Event occurred on a newly created file. In the meantime until some one official replies. You could upload the file to VirusTotal and see if some other vendors agrees with ESET. https://www.virustotal.com/
  5. No date set yet for the final release afaik, keep in mind though that an RC "release candidate" hasn't been released yet, so it will take a while longer. In the past ESET have released only one beta then gone straight to production product. I assume their answer for release is when its ready. Based on my previous experience with testing I am still expecting an RC release. I don't expect a final for at least a couple of months if not longer. Yep same here.
  6. I run mbam in real time and eset , real time. They work just fine. Superantispyware is the only of the three that will get rid of tracking cookies. mbam doesnt do this, neither does eset. So i dont use real time on SAS and use it to scan regularly for cookies, it does a better job then any other progam i have found, besides using host file or hitmanpro ! Yeah many people say that, but using SAS only for the tracking cookie detection is not something I would do. I use CCleaner for that too, SAS detects the tracking cookies and get's rid of them, CCleaner detects the tracking cookies and get's rid of them. They do them same thing regarding the tracking cookies so I would not use SAS only to detect them. And ESET and MBAM does not detect them since they are not considered a threat, they are only cookies wich can be taken care of easily if the user wants to in the browser settings, or using CCleaner for example. I didn't mean that one shouldn't run ESET and MBAM Pro together, one can do that if one wants to, even if some get's problems with the MBAM real-time module, most don't and so it's OK to give it a try. Only I think it's not necessary, and therefore I use MBAM on-demand instead. Each to their own
  7. You can add an Avatar if you like, but I don't think it's possible to add images to the signature area, wich I think is good since they can be more annoying than useful IMHO.
  8. @jadinolf I use ESS and MBAM On-demand not the Pro version in real-time. But IMO it is totally unnecessary to run SAS Pro in real-time also along ESET and MBAM. (if that was your question mentioning all three, not sure) So my suggestion is, either you use ESS alone like me, or you could use ESS and add MBAM Pro too if you like, even if I think that is too much for real-time protection as well. I don't like to run several AV's/AM's in real-time and put in exsclusions etc etc.. So I have always used ESS alone, and everything else on-demand only. Before I used MBAM and SAS on-demand, but I don't even use SAS on-demand anymore. Only MBAM. (I say used, but I don't actually scan once every 6'th month with either of the OD scanners as I feel it wasn't needed.) I always only use 1 thing in real-time, better for system performance etc etc... and if something goes wrong I only have program to troubleshoot with, not two, three programs like some users use. It's too much simple as that lol, and I believe it causes more problems than offering more protection by using more than one in real-time. I think it's better to put in OS restrictions than add more real-time programs, though personally I don't have many OS restrictions either Good for high risk users, but not for me.
  9. The Startup Scan is set to run after each VSD update, have you disabled that one also?
  10. @johngie If you want to make sure that it is an ESET issue, or isn't an ESET issue, then you should uninstall Malwarebytes (not only disable) and then run ESET alone to see if you experience the same issue over and over. If the issues are gone, then ESET together with MBAM is the cause for your issues. As disable one thing in either ESET or MBAM is not enough as the drivers is still loaded. So uninstall MBAM check the issue and report back.
  11. Not that I really care about this, but if you like to play around...... I see on the GIF that you use V6 (also you didn't actually execute the file as far as I can see?), but you could download the V7 BETA execute the "malware" and see if the new Advanced Memory Scanner reacts to it.
  12. Maybe it's just me, but are you seeing the "error" when you are trying to update the VSD (Virus signature database). OR when you are updating the whole program e.g from V5 --> V6 ? If it is the first, then try with cleaning out your "update cache"(in the setup tree), and then try to update again. But also follow what Marcos said above!
  13. Guest_claudiu_* My two posts above explain why it wasnt detected. " We have not had a response back from the coder " Your comment was definatly not required, bearing the obtrusive nature of the resonse. Marcus has assisted with Eset customers for years on wilders and has been a dominant support on these forums, providing more help than anyone. In regards to Threatsense his post is accurate. If he is who I think he is, then he has been on the Prevx/Webroot section on Wilders asking and claiming all sorts of stuff. And even the new offical Webroot forum as well, and now he has found the ESET Forum Just so you know.
  14. I'm curious why you created this, to test ESET's Generic and/or Heuristics detection capability, or? As for the VT detections, as far as I can see all of them are Generic detections(expected), but you thought that almost all vendors on VT would detect this....
  15. Try disable the "scanning inside archives" option in the scan setup, and then start a new scan to see if, and how much it will drop from 1.1 million scanned files. Just to see if it makes a huge difference or not.
  16. what is SSL scaninig? there is in antivirus setup? I remove my browser, few day dont show this error but repeat thereafter! Do depend it to my browser and its setting? Follow the instructions in this ESET KB article, and see the screenshot to find the right location in the setup tree. hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN3126&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1377398940851 Also, if you are still using the trial (30 days) it's about time you buy a license if you haven't done that already, as it will soon run out of days.
  17. Hello RogerSC! First, was this your first scan ever with NOD32? If YES, then the second scan and every scan after will be much faster due to the cache function. Also, what version of ESET NOD32 Antivirus do you use? 1. I can't answer that. 2. Instead of using the Windows disk cleanup tool, To get more stuff cleaned out, download CCleaner from piriform.com And it will clean out browser cache, temp files, and more stuff, though before you use it, uncheck the stuff you don't want to get cleaned out, and then start the cleaning. Use this link if you would like to download CCleaner, scroll down and download the "slim build" without the 3'rd party bundle: hxxp://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds /// SweX
  18. Where from are you trying to download it/them, and what is the detection name you see when ESET detects it?
  19. ESET cleans files by default, ie. unless you deliberately disable cleaning. Maybe you were referring to cleaning via the context menu scan which is available under Advanced options in versions up to v6. As of v7, cleaning is available as the first option in the context menu. Yes, but after i performed a scan, it showed a virus but shows no options which it should in scan window. I think it would be much easier for a user to remove a virus if it shows options in scan window rather than right clicking on the virus to clean it. I have another problem. When parental control is enabled, web pages take a lot of time to load, even google. Why is it happening? It would be best if you create a new thread for this problem, so we don't continue the troubleshooting in here.
  20. Just want to confirm like everyone else that Yes it is fixed after the module update and restart
  21. As far as I know, only because you don't browse the web, or have any programs open, the OS itself is doing all sorts of tasks all the time more or less in the background, so the "statistics" in the GUI may continue to tick tack on and on, and if it is that you are seeing then it's just normal "operations" I would think. Also, if the threat was in the quarantine like you say, and you are sure you deleted it from the quarantine and didn't restore it by mistake? Then it's no longer on the system as it has been permanently deleted. But you can continue to scan with ESET and/or other tools to see if anything is found to be on the safe side.
  22. Another option is that you download CCleaner, and use it's feature to disable, or delete startup entries. That's the feature I use personally, simple and fast. But be sure you know what you disable so you don't disable some important startup items. Plus you can use the other features of CCleaner as well of course. Edit: in the CCleaner GUI you find this function under Tools -> Startup
  23. I read this as you want to uninstall because you saw the "failed to read firewall config" yes? If so, then I would suggest that you download the latest ESS V7 BETA. Since I had that very same error before, but I no longer see it after that I uninstalled my previous ESS v5, and installed the latest V7 Beta. So try that and report back if you are still seeing. Also, I am unable to see "the above splash screen" you are mentioning if you attached a screenshot.
  24. You're welcome, well you could say that ESET have already "nailed it down" only that the fix is yet to be put on the update servers so it can be downloaded by the software, and that's the final step that will happen tomorrow.
  25. It was mentioned earlier in this thread couple hours ago that a module including the fix will be released tomorrow but what module exactly hasn't been mentioned yet afaik. Edit: And FYI, you don't need to do anything to get the new module, it will get downloaded via the normal VSD updates. But a restart will be needed as seen in the quote after it have been downloaded.
