  1. This sounds like crazy fun, but also a little too far !! lol Too bad the GUI is created in a developer environment in tandem with the code like Visual Studio project etc. Indeed, very bad idea, I think the support team would have a hard time instructing users throughout the GUI if one user had designed a GUI on his own, Support --> "click that button and then that one"...User --> "ehh my GUI don't look like that". So one GUI only is the absolute best solution for both users and the company. It's a security product we're dealing with, so it needs to have a GUI that is easy to use and understand for everyone that uses it. IMO.
  2. Hello This issue is currently being investigated by ESET as we speak, and they will let us know when they have fixed it. See this thread for more info and updates on the situation: https://forum.eset.com/topic/774-ess-the-never-ending-update/
  3. Right, no I don't meant that type of logs, that is basically just "statistics" sent away to MS, personally I never send these logs to MS. Anyhow, by logs I meant logs that ESET may ask you to create, but if Marcos or anyone else haven't asked you yet they may do so sooner or later, but you need to have ESS installed in order to make the "issue" appear so the logs are created and so forth. Ah well, I don't use Outlook Express either. So I can't check if I got the same problem with it.
  4. FYI. See this thread for future discussions.... https://forum.eset.com/topic/332-the-v7-icon-is-so-ugly/
  5. Considering that I also have an AMD CPU form around that time 2003/2004 (Athlon 2800+) It might be worth to say that I too had the issue with an svchost.exe process that used around 100%. And of course the PC was unusable at that moment, so I restarted and it was fine after the restart, and since then I have never seen an svchost.exe use 100% CPU. I can't say anything about the Outlook issue since I don't use Outlook. But provide ESET with whatever logs they want from you so they can fix all the issue that the AMD CPUs 2003/2004 together with Win XP SP3 seem to cause for people. You, myself, and afaik member KOR also got an AMD CPU and XP SP3.
  6. @Michiel. On the link below you find instructions on how you can do this if you don't already know. How do I create a SysInspector log and submit it to ESET?
  7. You should currently have VSD version 8700 as that is the latest one. Place the cursor on the ESET icon (looks like an eye/or a small "e") in the taskbar, and you will see something like "Virus Signature Database: 8700 (20130818)"
  8. Many vendors (including ESET) do not detect tracking cookies, as they are not really malicious like malware. And the solution is actually very simple, when you're done browsing clear out the cookies, temps, cache, etc... manually in the browsers settings. Or you can download CCleaner and run it once you have exit the browser, and it will do all that for you. But be sure to opt out of the 3'rd party bundle stuff during the CCleaner installation if you don't want it, (or one can download the "slim build" that also is available on piriform.com that don't have anything bundled in the installer)
  9. Just FYI, the startup scan takes between 3-10 Sec on average in my experience and that is on a very old PC as well (amount of startup items and hardware may play a role), and the antispam is getting better continuously. Regarding the GUI, it sounds like a new one is in the works.....
  10. Yeah i've heard of it but have never tried it. I have really really tried to like new browsers, but very quickly I start to miss my oldie goldie browser. It may not keep up with the standards, as you can see with this weird linking example, but I can live with a minor issue like that.
  11. It seems it works in IE 8, but not in my favo browser that I use all the time Safari 5.0.5. But I still don't understand why that thread is the only one to cause the issue in Safari and that I can't link to. That thread will be closed anyway when V7 is out of BETA. So nothing serious but that's how it is anyhow.
  12. Testing again using another browser: https://forum.eset.com/topic/330-eset-smart-security-7-beta-eset-nod32-antivirus-7-beta-released-–-give-feedback-and-win/
  13. Yes, some quotes from the ESET KB site. Note, it mentions V5, but afaik it applies for later versions too.
  14. Haha it seems KOR and I are having the same issues on XP SP3, First the firewall issue, and now he shares the info about that he can't get into the setup tree, same problem as me too, must be connected to XP SP3 surely. I'm sure we'll get it sorted very soon....
  15. Orange was just fine as it was before IMO. I mean if something more "severe" is happening then it will turn Red as it still does of course, but Orange for "hey I need your attention" is OK I think. But maybe that's just me, and each to their own I guess.
  16. Hi there The Virus signature update error can happen when the product tries to download VSDs (virus signature database) before an internet connection is fully established, like right after a computer start up for example. Do you still get the error, or have any newer VSD version been downloaded after you saw the error?
  17. I agree about what you are saying, but if it's not there in V7 for me it may not be there for you either. What update exactly are you talking about an normal VSD update, or a particular module update? I used Pre-release when it started to happen, but I haven't enabled them yet in the V7 Beta to be on the safe side.
  18. I run CCleaner 100 times a day lol, so that's not the problem behinde it. But I can link to ther posts in this forum. I was trying to link to that thread in a PM to the admin and, no that didn't work either.
  19. Link to the thread that I can't link to: https://forum.eset.com/topic/330-eset-smart-security-7-beta-eset-nod32-antivirus-7-beta-released-%E2'>
  20. According to some users yes, but they don't know the reason behinde the higher than average RAM usage. That's why I keep explaining the reason over and over lol. IMO using the RAM is a good thing, not bad. BTW. Read this useful post by Fabian W from Emsisoft and you will get more details: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showpost.php?p=2257357&postcount=135 Good read, but you wanna know something funny. I run a revodrive lol So if it wants to move from memory to disk thats fine, speed wont change much for me as my nand flash drive is sitting on my pci-ex. LOL!!! Thx again Swex Do you wanna know something funny, That Link Worked too HAHA. I don't know what an "revodrive" is exactly, but I guess it's like an ramdisk or something like that ? Well having 6GB like you, or 16GB like Fabian. I got 512MB (not worth upgrading as the whole PC is 9Yrs old) and even having as little as 512MB I still don't understand people complaining on the RAM usage. It's there to be used, and if it makes the performance better then use it. B) You're welcome again
