Those are not actually identical. Firewall rules are created for a specific file, however, the firewall internally works with aliases / hard links which are different in this case. According to the output of fstuil shown above, there can be 8 rules for 1 file that appear identical but they are not identical in fact because each is created for a different alias of the file.
If you notice this behavior also for other than the Lenovo app, let us know so that we can investigate if it uses hard links / aliases as well.

Lenovo seems to have started using hard links, each pointing to the same physical file.

I've tried to duplicate it now with Lenovo Vantage and v17 to no avail. Please let us know if switching to the pre-release update channel and upgrading to v17.0.10 makes a difference.

If eicar is not detected, the advanced setup window will be likely blank as well. In such case a reboot should resolve the issue and modules should load alright then according to our tests.  We continue working on finding out the root cause.

This should not be necessary, as MarcFL wrote, clicking Dismiss in the warning should suffice and the protection status will be green. The eicar test file is detected then so protection seems to work fine. We'll make some further tests to make sure. So far it appears to be a glitch with the notification during modules reload after update.

You can disregard the last number. The newer build has basically only a string in the Japanese version amended.

You could try temporarily uninstalling ESET CyberSecurity Pro v6 and installing the latest ESET CyberSecurity v7 with native M1/M2 support.

It will be available with the release of v17 in a couple of days.

Does temporarily disabling Web access protection make a difference? Please raise a support for help with further investigation of the issue.

It can be disabled via a policy. If you are not seeing these settings, please post a screenshot of installed modules (Help -> About):

Cleaner module 1245 is already available on the pre-release update channel.

Please uninstall ESET 16.2 and install the latest v16.2.15 from scratch with default settings. Then switch the firewall to interactive mode and create rules. If you can reproduce the issue, provide step-by-step instructions how to reproduce it. Also please raise a support ticket so that the case is properly tracked in the ticketing system.

This issue will be fixed via an automatic module update within 1-2 weeks. As a workaround, please unselect the registry in scan target selection.

Please do not select the registry as a scan target until a new version of the Cleaner module is released (ETA is 1 week to the  release on the pre-release update channel). Otherwise it may take hours for the scan to complete.

Yes, we have pinpointed it to the Cleaner module, in particular, to recent changes in the registry value parser which ineffectively parses certain registry values with many tokens and that unnecessarily prolongs the scan time. We expect a new version of the Cleaner module addressing this issue to be available on the pre-release update channel in approximately 1 week. Also I'd like to mention not to pay much attention to the file displayed in the scanner window as it's the last file that was successfully scanned.

Does pressing Ctrl+F5 make a difference? If not, carry on as follows:
Close the browser. Enable advanced logging under Help and support -> Technical support Launch the browser and reproduce the issue Stop logging Collect logs with ESET Log Collector and upload the generated archive here.

Support for Thunderbird was discontinued years ago. However, email received via IMAP(S) or POP3(S) in Thunderbird is scanned by ESET. It's just that you can't scan already received messsages on demand or that received messages are not scanned by ESET antispam. Otherwise malware should be normally detected in received email.

Please provide logs that you collected with ESET Log Collector after generating an advanced OS log EsetPerf.etl.
