    Hi,

Tried to contact ESET Technical support 03-06 times in 03 months but they are unreachable on mail/chat after sale ? whats happening its only me or the same are facing the same issue no human is available to support on any issue ?

When you do a support ticket you should get an automated reply with a reference number - have you received this?

Fair comment Nevi! Indeed most people find windows defender enough, added to a decent firewall.

Still disappointing eset dont do a stand alone pw mgr.

I also tried Webroot some years back, and they clearly havent kept up with what is expected.

    80% happy with bitwarden. cheers

Did you look at upgrading? I only ask as now the premium version comes with an extra layer of security that no other home version has, LiveGuard, so you may find the upgrade worth it, depending on if you find the feature handy

So don't do anything?  Are there now two options for Android?  Sort of looks like they've updated it but mine didn't go to the new version.  I'm at 6.* and I see this other (slightly different name) is at 7.*.

If there are 2 options I wonder if one is an old one no longer supported. Going to the play store I see mobile security and antivirus but not one without antivirus.

I'd recommend trying to download the new one and if it installs 2 uninstalling the old one.

Kaspersky is one example and it has proven quite effective against 0-day ransomware. By coupling ransomware behavior monitoring with system snapshot taking, Kaspersky is capable of restoring all files encrypted by ransomware.

Also, Kaspersky is not 100% bulletproof in this regard. I have seen a few ransomware that have bypassed its protections. However, they are a very rare occurrence.

It should be additionally noted that it appears Kaspersky has "worked out the kinks" in regards to previous versions system performance impact issues in regards to its system snapshot processing. System snapshot also gives Kaspersky the capability to "rollback" system modifications done by malware. Of note and in reference to postings in the forum Malware section, Eset might detect malware upon execution, however it is powerless to remove system changes performed by the malware prior to discovery. Those changes have to be manually removed.

This is the issue i have. I'm a fan of Eset but it seems other AVs are looking at extra features.

For example some AVs have a protected folder feature that could protect user files if infected by ransomware e.g. certain documents that the user rated important and/or critical. Notice my use of the word "could" as nothing is every bulletproof but ESET's answer to this seems to be it could theoretically be bypassed so why bother. I mean to me an AV could theoretically be bypassed so why bother?

To me even if something is not 100 percent guaranteed as @itmanmentioned in regards to the ransomware rollback features of Kaspersky (and what ever can be truly 100 percent), surely if they are generally reliable as in they work in most cases, then it worth it. I feel it's better to have that extra layer and extra options and customers will also favour the options.

At the end of the day marketing also plays a crucial role in AV sales and if an AV is offering more features that users want and at a cheaper or even free price then they will go for that AV. As I mentioned in the feedback post I have to plan to leave Eset and hope this doesn't appear to be a threat as it isn't. As someone who tests Beta versions of Eset and helps where I can (although my knowledge is basic) I just want Eset to be the best it can and to grow. I sadly however do feel Eset is holding itself back, possibly scared how to implant some features to avoid complicating users who don't have any knowledge and would be afraid of an alert asking the user to make a decision.

We already have Deep Behavioral Inspection which monitors the behavior of running processes and it's being continually improved via module updates like other protection mechanisms that ESET employs.

However, I'd like to stress that there's nothing like 100% malware protection, otherwise there would be already at least one AV that would protect against all threats with no false positives without requiring updates.

Didn't Eset mention on the public forums I.e. not beta areas, they where looking into a full behaviour system in the next two years (a few years back)

  6. I'd like to add that that while I enjoy Eset and enjoy being part of the insider testing group, and have no plans myself in leaving, I've seen that some features missing are being offered by the competition and other users may decide to jump ship.

For example a lot are offering more features to help with ransomware e.g. protected folders, rollback etc. While these can go wrong e.g. ransomware may break into the protected folders, surely it is better to have it as extra protection.

Same goes with things like the ability to block things with no or low results. If disabled by default I can't see it causing too many issues if users are given a warning.

My friend, not much has changed, the interface is the same, there is no dark mode, several user comments requesting changes in the appearance of the antivirus, but so far nothing was attended to. when you check back here and comment what you think. I haven't found anything so far. it's like ten from version 9

I will add to what marcos has put above  by adding over the years, new features have been introduced e.g. ransomware protection, network device monitoring and just with the new version 15, ransomware shield.

I have seen other AVs in the past change their UI each year and sometimes it felt like a way to hide there wasn't much new. While I always like to try new versions and see changes, changing the UI just because makes no sense. If it is for making things easier then fine but just to change the look could cause more issues. I'd much rather see Eset add more features over changing the interface

I wonder what you guys meaning of all of this, LiveGuard was introduced probably because there was need for 0-day protection and also Smart Security lacked something special that differs it from Internet Security

The complaint here is that LiveGuard does take 1-10 minutes inorder to process what has been sent to Cloud and with that time it's blocked till it gets approved by ESET, even also as been reported that Signed files are even reported and uploaded, Let's not forget that before a while there was an article about Microsoft signing drivers which in the end was a malware

LiveGuard is a kind of sandbox analysis server that is available for Smart Security products, which is normal thing for a sandbox to take time to process and analyze and send back information, there was a complaint before that LiveGrid doesn't block/prevent because it didn't have an update for a kind of file/threat , now that what LiveGuard is doing , it's blocking a file that it never seen before , which what people requested in order to prevent never seen before Ransomware files

For sure a new feature , it would contain bugs and need to be fixed and optimized more and so the servers are , even if one will go and have EDTD and one endpoint for it , it would take the same amount of time for analysis

And probably LiveGuard is powered by EDTD so would be same same.

LiveGuard is very nice addition by ESET , it can be fixed and optimized more for sure and I believe by the time passes it's database will be bigger and better, it's still the first public version for it , but for the question to use it or not , well Internet Security is still there if answer is not.

I think the issue people have is that they feel this is a key security feature and so should be part of at least internet security, although as mentioned above the reason this isn't the case is due to its running costs.

Another issue I've seen some people mention is the fact that for a lot of users, they feel there is no reason to upgrade to premium e.g. they don't need a password manager and/or the encryption tool, and so some users feel it is a bit expensive to upgrade just for LiveGuard.

I can see both sides really - I have often wondered if more people would use the top end version if it had more features. The password manager will be quite handy, but I don't think a lot of people would use the encryption tool or realise how it can help.

I would like to create a rules to block ccleaner connection but when I go to Firewall Rules - Add Rule - Local - Application, I cannot add the application because it does not appear on ESET Windows. This problem occur after  update to version 15.0.16.0. The same problem also occur with hips rule editor.

Is this just for ccleaner or does this occur if trying to add another .exe

While I'm not saying that a reply is always provided, we do our best to do so. An exception is typically submissions from those who regularly flood us with grey files and basically never submit actual malware or they submit malware which is already detected. I've gone through two pages of this Malware finding and cleaning subforum and didn't find any complaint that the user didn't receive a reply from samples[at]eset.com. Again, not saying that it can't happen but it's rather something that could happen seldom.

It seems to be more actual website owners I've noticed complaining they've received no reply and technically it's against forum rules to post requests website related on here if I'm correct.

Like I said it's probably a lot of work to check what is blocked and inform them but if they don't receive a reply they normally end up coming on here

There is never an answer from Eset after such a message, in any case I and all those I know who use Eset have never received an answer to it. Would also be very desirable for me if you would get an answer from Eset!

Yeah I think if there was more communication it would stop people posting on here. For example a lot of people post their own sites on here after emailing them and having no answer. Often there is malware but if Eset replied it would prevent then having to come here and break forum rules.

I know this may be easier said than done as they probably receive a lot of emails

Does the ESET anti-virus software remove keyloggers from android? and if so with what degree of certainty (what % out of 100%) I discovered this can be a common issue with android and so I wanted to ask this question before buying.

I should add that no AV can ever guarantee 100 percent. Think of it like a vaccine for real viruses, there's always a risk of something not working, being missed etc.

Generally though most AVs will pick up most stuff and the more advanced threat actors tend to target high profile users and businesses.

Eset is a great AV and as long as you follow safe procedures like sticking to safe sites etc. You'll be fine

In Windows 8.1, from the services I don't see any option to stop or restart the ekrn 'ESET Service'.  That service has a 5GB memory commit size right now... Most probably memory leaks.

Is there another way to do this without a reboot?

I do not want to restart Windows itself since I have many application and some server application running.

I presume you are using the latest version of Eset?

Please don't respond to this unless you are an admin or moderator or support staff.  I have been waiting patiently for almost a week now and still no reply from staff I think it's because I am getting bumped lower.. Who knows.. Thanks for doing the support.. It is appreciated. I really need to get this solved. I would prefer not to have to call.

Hello if no one is responding staff wise you could try and create a support ticket via the website as this will always be responded to

    Hello @tommy456 and @Masamunnex,

Direct Cloud communication module 1118.2, with this issue fixed is available on pre-release update channel.

Can you please switch to pre-release updates, verify if your ESET product downloaded the Direct Cloud communication module 1118.2, try to reproduce the issue and let us know?

The issue was caused by multiple requests failing, thus taking the channel offline even in case of a short network outage...

    Peter

Was steam part of the issue with this? Not had it happen in a while but noticed others had the issue with steam running

1 - Want to know the difference between regular update and pre-release update?

2 - if the pre-release is better because the eset program doesn't put it as default?

As far as I'm aware the pre release version contains fixes to issues and eset recommend people use it to see if it works and if there are any other issues. However eset don't recommend activating it on work computers in case of any issues

    Hello,
Yesterday, after updating several apps through Play Store and restarting the device, the icon and notification finally disappeared.
But as soon as there was a new app update through Play Store, the rotating icon and a notification reappeared.
Finally, I uninstalled and reinstalled ESET Mobile Security: it is the old version 6.3.66.0 which was again available on the Play Store. And everything works as before.
Watch out for the next update but probably less buggy.

    Michel

Sounds the same issue currently present on the Beta version

I've received an official statement on license auto-renewal from ESET LLC:

We’ve had the same “forced” autorenew experience in place for several years.

Legal and many many others have had their eyeballs on the current set up and we can confidently say we’re not in violation of any laws. When clicked in cart, this is the disclosure we show to users:

    image.png

The post purchase receipt email provides direct instructions how to manage one’s autopay settings, including a direct link to the eStore My Account to do so. We also send a notice ~30 days before license expiration, reminding the user about the upcoming charge.

Autopay and myESET are 2 separate systems. The latter will be renamed ESET HOME soon and is where the user can manage their license, set up parental control, etc. The former is a customer portal where the user can update their autopay settings or see their purchased licenses. The eStore My Account will be deprecated in steps over the next several months as we move toward the Global eStore.

I will say the quote "by enabling autopay" makes it sounds like it is an option
