If I use an older version of the product, I see I still get updates but there are newer product versions. Why do I need a newer product version if I still keep getting updates? Does it has anything to do with security, is it important? ESET Internet security.

As Marcos has mentioned newer versions contain fixes to bugs, improvements to things such as scanning and protection and also newer features.

For example often in the past I'd see people complaining about getting hit with ransowmare and questioning why Eset didn't stop it but it turned out they they where using a very old version which didn't have the ransomware.

By being on the latest version you get all the newer features. Also eset is licensed by product and not version so as long as your license is still in date all newer versions of the product will work

Why not loading all at the same time ,or GUI prior to that to create the feeling that "I am protected"????

Problem is if Eset GUI and drivers loaded at the same time they would have to wait for windows GUI first.

By loading eset services and stuff before the Windows GUI has loaded, eset is protecting you from the start. If it waited for the Eset GUI it would potentially put the user at risk.

I presume some stuff will have more priority. Not sure if it could be quickened though or if that would cause delays

Truth has several modules that have not yet been updated.

I'm waiting for these modules to be updated, it's not possible that it was all this time without a problem or bugs

To avoid things like this coming up again and again would it be possible to have a webpage which would show all the current modules for normal and pre release @Marcos

This would also allow people to know if they had an issue

If chrome is collecting information ESET shouldn't let that happen.
Why does ESET allow this collection of personal information to the user?

Eset focuses more on security than general privacy. There are programs designed to block stuff such as telemetry. Spybot for example has Antiabecon which can block telemetry forapps, browsers and windows updates.

I did ask if Eset would ever consider something similar but I think they where concerned about the legality I.e. if they claim Microsoft is stealing data and block it could Microsoft deny and sue. There's then the risk that blocking some stuff could cause issues I.e. stuff stops working

In 2020 I saw this article on the ESET website.
    https://www.eset.com/br/sobre/blog/corporativo/google-chrome-e-eset-se-unem-na-luta-contra-ameacas-online/
I wanted to know if you still have this partnership with ESET.
If you still have this partnership, is it true that it is safer to use google chrome than other browsers Firefox and Edge?

I think browser wise it always depends on user preference. Each browser tends to have its own security features. Each also suffers from rouge extensions sometimes bypassing their security vetting.

I use Chrome as I have an android phone so I have my browser history synced which is handy. However I know a lot of People avoid it for privacy issues as Google often has a lot of privacy concerns.

It is a trojan horse , it is disguised as a normal PDF and contains a link to the malware/threat.

Anyway , A malicious PDF naming or a Trojan Horse , all roads lead to Rome , ESET has protected you from that threat.

Yeah this. By saying as you say, not a virus, it would probably cause more confusion I.e. is it a virus, what is it etc.

Basically it was a file that only had malicious purposes. You said rightly anything can be abused and used maliciously but this file had no other purpose and so it makes sense to flag it as malware.

Most users will also not research. If they see something is a virus they will make sure its gone and leave it at that

    Hi,
I've been a user of ESET NOD32 for many years now and my license is ending in a few days; I want to renew but I'll probalbly be buying a new laptop once I saved some money for it during this year.

Now my question is the following: is the renewal of a license for antivirus software fixed to a single system or can I use the same license when I buy a new system? And how do I do that if the answer is yes?

    Thanks!

Nope. If you do get a new computer just uninstall it on the current. If you no longer have access you can free licenses up at https://my.eset.com

I did some additional testing using this download: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Makazzz/VbsToExePortable/master/VbsToExePortable and it was multiple tests. I have also definitely identified what is the LiveGuard issue.

First, I updated my prior posting in this thread that both Safe Browsing download settings need to be disabled till this issue is resolved by Eset.

The issue is Safe Browsing will first download a "metadata" version of the file for initial analysis in the Google cloud. It then deletes that file and subsequently will download the full version of the file. What LiveGuard is capturing is the metadata version of the file for Eset cloud analysis. The problem is the metadata version of the file doesn't contain all file data and no longer exists in the user's Downloads folder resulting in both the download being borked along with LiveGuard's subsequent processing of it.

    Good findings. @MarcosAny thoughts?

So there is no need to have ESSP, since we know that the EIS will detect the same way, which is a while later.

Eset internet security may detect the files later but in theory it may be too late i.e the malware may have already infected the computer and done damage.

Basically as mentioned it depends on what you want and can afford. Nod32 is basically just an antivirus and internet security adds a firewall and network protection.

As well as FileGuard premium also comes with a password manager and disk encryption. So it depends if you would use any of these

My smart security service got terminated and I was without the service for almost a month when i realized i wasn't covered. I never received an email to renewal my subscription. I did renew it. I went into my account and cound't find anything about renewing subscription & why i never got an email. I kept seeing a dialog box in the lower right hand corner of my monitor but they flash so quickly I never could read what it said. Wish they had an OK button to click on PLUS the font is so small you can't see the print PLUS light gray color font on white is very hard to read. I'm assuming that was ESET's way of telling you to renew your subscription???  After renewing it i got an email. I searched my email and there was not ANYTHING saying it was time to renew. ALSO the invoice in PDF format is SO HARD TO READ!  The  font color blends in with the white background and printing it out it's barely rereadable. My husband couldn't read it either. Can someone help me on this? Plus is there any 'accessibility' setup since i'm legally blind too?? Thank you for listening.

Normally if Eset stops working the icon in the task bar should change colour to indicate something is wrong. You can also activate automatic renewal as an option

  11. It's normally rolled out gradually. I belive this is to avoid bugs i.e a bug is found and the rollout is stopped, which is better than everyone updating and getting the bug. I suppose it could also avoid the update sever being overwhelmed.

When you say manually I presume you mean via the built in updater. If you don't want to wait for the rollout usually the download on the site is the newer version so just download and install it over the top

Oh...sorry for the caps lock... and thank you for the reply. So then if we have to run full system scan at once then.......?

sorry if i m in confusion here but It would have been better if we have Full system scan option with in depth scan feature.... so kindly if possible then make so .thanks in advance.

Eset has an in depth scan. The link bellow explains how to do this

I understood. I'm new to Linux, I like to use this operating system. Do you know an antivirus for Linux Ubuntu home?

As Marcos has mentioned the home version of eset Linux has been discontinued. I belive this was relayed to the costs of running vs the amount of users.

Business products are available e.g. endpoint, but you can't buy a single license has to be about 5

I bought from the oficial ESET reseller here. The license was sent straight to ESET Home. And as you can see by the screenshots the AV recognised the license and instaled it. It just errors when updating.

Have you tried using the Eset uninstaller tool in safe mode then reinstalling. This makes sure all eset files get removed

    https://support.eset.com/en/kb2289-uninstall-eset-manually-using-the-eset-uninstaller-tool

If this is the computer that the lower tier product was on just wondering if something has been left behind. The uninstall tool may fix that if it's the case

My ESET Internet Security won't upgraded to newer product version 15.0.21.0 despite that I :-

    • Press Accept (EULA) and update button and,
    • Press update product now button.

    It did not update

    • Use Check for updates (force method)

    Nothing happen

    It there something I missed?

    Appreciate some help.

    -Rich

    Windows 10 Home V. 21H2

    ESET Internet Security 14.2.24.0

Not sure if it's the same but I've seen people having trouble in the past and it was apparently related to compatability issues.

Have you used Eset for years. From what I can remember an issue recently causing program updates to fail occurred if they had upgraded multiple times and once had a really old version e.g. they upgraded from version 10 to 11, 11 to 12 and so on. Something appeared to remain From an old version causing issues.

From what I remember the solution was to backup any custom changes, remove eset via the uninstaller (link bellow) and then reinstall the newer version. The issue then shouldn't exist again with future upgrades.
