Description: Allow LiveGuard to work with download managers
Detail: Currently if you download via a download manager, LiveGuard will not work properly.
I downloaded a test file and it would not run, no are you sure you want to open this type of file alert but noticed the file has been sent by liveguard in the logs. This was with Free Download Manager (fdm). No alert from liveguard.
Correct behaviour worked when using Chrome to download the file. Liveguard popped up saying it was checking the file etc.

I'm not sure it is a simple case of just telling them to stop using the name even if they wanted to. Normally it would be a legal matter and you would have the weight of the legal system behind you. But given the circumstances I doubt the legal system would go after their own people for the benefit of western countries.
Yeah I did think it might be complicated and political

Correct. Looks like some information from https://help.eset.com/elga/en-US/proactive_protection.html is missing in the ESET LiveGuard help, will check it out with colleagues from the documentation team.
Will post this in the feature request area but do you think it would ever be possible to get it to work with download managers?

Download it again. Immediately try to run the file. You will receive a Win popup that the file can't be accessed. You will also receive an Eset popup that asks if you want to unblock the file which you do not want to do. When LiveGuard file analysis completes, you will get an LiveGuard desktop popup that the file is safe.
I have realised what was causing the issue. When I tried to open the exe I got nothing - not a are you sure you want to open this. If I download via Chrome and open Eset alerts me but if I download through the download manager I use, Free Download Manager (FDM) it seems it is sent but I'm not alerted and the .exe is not running

You won't get a Safe file verdict popup unless you physically try to access the sent file while in a blocked status.
should I have gotten a warning that it was being checked as I can see it is in my logs but no popup saying the file has been blocked temporary or anything

Does anyone know why I keep getting these emails informing me that an unusual login has been detected every time I log in to ESET Home?
There's nothing unusual about me logging in! It's only a minor thing but it's annoying. It's the same computer I'm using each time so I can't see any reason why it's happening. I can log in twice, a few minutes apart, and there's still an email informing me it's unusual!!
Is there a way to turn off these 'warnings'?

do you clear cookies/cache regularly as this could cause issues

Yes. I continue experiencing issues with LiveGuard which are discussed above.
Regarding this test file, ESET LiveGuard didn't block and send it to the cloud.
decided to try it myself. Seems liveguard might have sent it but got no notification

We do not provide support to Russia and Belarus. The former distributor may continue to support their customers since they paid for the product and support, however, ESET HQ doesn't cooperate with the distributor and doesn't support him.
I will add - that if they are using the Eset name and giving bad support - this could look bad for Eset in general. Most customers, general public etc. will not realise they are not linked with HQ

Only thing I can recommend is uninstalling eset and reinstalling. I'd recommend doing so with the uninstall tool in safe mode via the link bellow.
https://support.eset.com/en/kb2289-uninstall-eset-manually-using-the-eset-uninstaller-tool
It seems like eset is doing its job but just not alerting you. Not sure why but if it's something corrupt a reinstall should fix this

The problem is any system is vulnerable.
As ITman had suggested, the best way is to use an actual computer. A separate physical computer is better, the more airtight the better. Although there are risks if the 2 are on the same network

Maybe the OP meant that he can execute a file using a compression tool without extracting it first. However, even then the tool extracts the file to a temporary folder before execution.
And I presume this would get scanned by the AV

Does VirusTotal use ESET Online Scanner or ESET product?
I believe it uses signatures but AVs have stuff desiged to flag malware that doesn't have a signature yet. For example in Eset security premium eset has liveguard that sends new files not seen before for review and locks them while waiting for a verdict

Also Russian support was very rude with me. They said me to stop send to them files which they think are clean(but all malware analysts(including ESET's) don't think so) and to send them files only which VirusTotal detects like malware. Their computer knowledges are very poor.
I mean if they have said that then that is stupid. Why would anyone need to send a sample of malware that is being detected. Well I suppose if someone claimed it was a false positive.

Reviewing Dell documentation, it only installed CompuTrace on older laptop models. Later laptop versions use Absolute software.
In regards to CompuTrace installed models:
1. It can only be disabled in the BIOS if it was never activated which is the default setting.
2. If CompuTrace has been activated, it can not be disabled which is by design for security reasons.
Isn't Absolute Software the company behind CompuTrace?

I'll get one, think they are about buying Eset password storage software
Have you previously imported your settings.
I've seen this happen before when someone had imported the setting and apparently this setting cannot be imported so even though it shows as off it isn't.
This is me trying to remember though but I'm sure the fix was simply to enable and then disable and save

Submissions via the ESET GUI do not receive high priority and can take days or months to be processed by lab experts (in many cases, they won't be processed by lab experts).
Last time, I submitted a suspicious Android sample via ESET GUI and got a reply after three months. 🤣
Yeah this does not sound good. I rarely email eset but have seen sometimes their emails can take a bit to get replies which for a security company is not great. Malware developers don't wait.
I think an upload service by eset could also help but unsure if it could be costly?

No. Applications on Android don't have permissions granted by the OS to modify system permissions.
When you open an app sometimes it will notify you to allow specific stuff. Could it not simply work like that but in a more specific way depending on the phone?
-
With the forum often seeing people posting stuff which turns out to be battery saver issues I wondered if there is anything Eset could do to help?
Not sure if this is possible because of the number of different manufacturers, models and software version but I was wondering if it could work.
The idea I had was that during setup Eset could attempt to detect the phone and manufacturer OS and if it was one known by Eset, basically go through a specific setup. e.g. it could open the battery saver setting and ask the user to disable it for the app and so on

The anti-phishing module changed its status to "browsers protected" last night all by itself. I have no idea why it changed, but I'm happy now. It seems other users have been reporting issues with anti-phishing.
I'd have a look at https://dontkillmyapp.com/ if it happens again.
I've been having the same issue on and off with my new phone the Xiaomi 11t pro although it seems okay at the moment.
The problem is that many manufacturers have settings that can cause issues with apps. Many manufacturers for example will add batter saver settings designed to make your phone last longer but often these can cause issues with apps that should be always on so you often need to find the setting and disable for that specific app

I bought Linux NOD32, and 1 week later it was discontinued, I will never forget or forgive ESET for that.
I have a varient of Ubuntu 20.04, and while I know that officially Linux EndPoint is for Ubuntu 18, I installed it anyway and it succeeded. However I cannot activated it, I have tried 25 times. I tried using my product key, my public id, my username / pass, my other username / pass, all in the terminal and all failed. Did they forget to send me a different license for EndPoint? Will the original Linux NOD32 license work?
Just to repeat myself, I have already read and carefully followed the directions in:
https://help.eset.com/eeau/9/en-US/activate_eeau.html so no need to repost that. I am looking for troubleshooting help with this, thank you.
When did you buy the license as eset has not supported Linux for home users for quite some time

So, in Automatic Mode ESET firewall is not different than the native Windows Firewall????
Interactive mode allows you to set rules up as a program launches. It will ask to allow/deny, remember etc.
Most people use Automatic mode as it is far less technical and will give far less popup windows asking for decisions.
Eset also has a problem with Windows Store applications and other programs that change their folder name each update. Eset firewall remembers rules by location.
For example if the program stays in C:\Program Files\program name it will remember the rule. However it won't work if it is like this C:\Program Files\program name\1.2 if every time there is an update e.g. next is 1.3 as the folder name changes eset will ask each update because to them the location has changed

I'm using Eset Internet Security. So I don't need to worry about things then.
If you have uninstalled the program it will be fine. Vivaldi is a well known browser so it is safe if installed from the official site. If you want to use it try installing it and looking into Eset's firewall troubleshooter wizard which shows you if something is being blocked and allows you to unblock it

The only permission I can find which is relevant is the Android setting permission to autofill. The android password manager has no option to allow or disable autofill for the app itself.
I'm on Android 11 and was totally unaware of the Adaptive Battery setting. I've now switched it off for a while to check out the idea that it might just affect this issue.
In fact the problem has moved on a step. After a reboot of the whole phone the Username can at least be filled in. If I tap in the Username entry box the option ESET Password Manager is offered. Tapping on that enters the Username. Still no password though and that action has no effect in the Password entry box. It still steadfastly refuses to enter the password for me. My wife has a much older phone than mine which cannot move past Android 9. She has the same problems and can't even get that same Username entry to work at all.
I just installed it myself as I use another password manager. Set autofill to eset but the only thing that came up was the Google's password manager. Not sure if this is an android issue and might need a ticket submitted @Marcos wondering if it's worth someone from eset seeing if they can reproduce?

I don't get it. You mention Kaspersky but in the first image the offline is 78 percent and eset is 96.1 online is 95.4 for Kaspersky and eset is 96.1. the last bit is slightly higher for Kaspersky but not a lot. Also note eset has 0 false positives.
I've always been honest that I think Kaspersky has some great feature that I feel eset is lacking but I think tests should be taken with a pinch of salt as each companies tests will show different results as there are many factors.
Whatever works for you is what you should use.
