my license is activated years ago, what do you mean ?? ?

Im sorry but this damn company does everything to confuse and trick you into a spinning in circles .... i actually was about to to jump on a pretty good deal ... clicked my way to home products, security premium a 30 day free trial, no cred card right now, plus passwordmanager. so i g after it by clicking the the link for download...of course they LIED, what i got download was for then inferior internet security not the SMART SECURITY PREMIUM that had 75 % more functions than nod32 has, thats why i want THAT DEAL they offered me but as i knew, yanked it away tried if i was a bozo and would mix the similar names togehter and go ahead.

IM pissed ... has anyone EVER gotten a salesperson on the phone ?????

and why har they so damn messy, EVERY click in a eset page generates either A new tab, you get another login screen because they log you off again and again and again...what the hell

So how do i solve the thingy with nod32 is installed with payed license untill 2025.  smartest would be to turn of my internet router, yank the lisence from the device in eset nod32 program right ?? I just know this ing company will do some ing thing to make my license go POOOOOFF

I'm sure every home product including premium offers a 30 day trial so there is no special offer for a specific version.

I don't use the password manager myself but I thought you could reset the password via your email address

Okay I see, at the EOL of a version there is no choice anymore, even though a person has it check-marked not to have Feature Upgrades, nonetheless the program ignores that and you'll be automatically version upgraded at what ESET calls EOL. IMO this should not be the case and should be a prompt, yes, but not Forced! Definitely it should be stated in the hover-over on that button, and somewhere more obvious in the literature.

Okay I have all my answers, and Marcos you're giving the perfect answers as a good Administrator for the company you work for should give, it's the corporate way, and so well done for ESET

    ___________

@peteyt, as a paid user I don't want to be a beta tester, and I've proven that to be the case already while having it forced on me with no way out. No thanks! ..I'll stay with a more well tested/proven v15 for now.  I do not need all these new marketing frills and unnecessary GUI changes in my own personal use. I've always just wanted a very good AV engine without the frills, and/or at least a way to turn options off and thank goodness ESET gives me most 95% (but not all) of those options.

Of course ymmv ..and that's fine

Oh I understand. As newer versions come out there's often going to be issues so I can see why people often stay behind, especially in regards to business.

My point however was that there is no guarantee that the conflict that happens with your screenshot program will be fixed because someone has to report it for Eset to know there's an issue.

I work as a service desk assistant and we often get calls about people who've had issues for ages but one day decide to finally report it and they aren't happy that it's been ongoing for ages. The issue is that half the time it's user specific and so until they made the call we had no idea the issue was effecting them

NOD32 v16.0.22.0 forces upgrade to v16.0.24.0, and even though I have the box unchecked for No Product Application Feature Updates - but the 'hover over' on that checkmark says it has no effect on security and stability updates, and so I suppose it deemed itself power over my wish and went right ahead and auto updated to v16.0.24, even though I don't want it to right now, please and thank you.

Not that it matters to my question, but I don't want v16.0.24 because it's has a bug in it and conflicts with my screenshot programs both Printkey & FastStone when clicking the sys tray icon of NOD, and it does this on either Win7 & Win10. But no matter with what that issue is I don't care really and I'm sure it'll get fixed, but I want and choose to stay on v16.0.22.0 which works fine.  Please I don't want to talk about the bug anymore and don't want to be a beta tester for a paid license, as well I don't care to upload any bug logs for the same reason, thank you, please.

My only question is - How can I  ..and can I as a paid user stop it from automatically updating to v16.0.24.0 ?
    Yes or no

(yes I know I can turn off all updates to stop it, but no point since naturally I definitely want continuous virus definition module updates to work right along)

    notes
(I've uninstalled v16 and installed v15.2.17.0 to test that at the moment, and 'for now' it lets me stay with that version while still updating definitions - for now anyway)

My only question is, Can I, and is there a way to stop my paid licensed version of NOD32, from updating itself to the next product build, or version, whether v16 (or v15) (or even if I have to revert to v14 to do it is fine because I don't like forced updates irregardless; I want to choose where and when myself, simple as that)

Yes or no please, and if yes what is the way to do it.

    Thank you!

My License is valid for Essential Security NOD32 only
        License Key: xxxxxxxx
        Public ID: xxxxxxx
        Product: ESET NOD32 Antivirus
        Quantity: 2
        Expiry: 11/24/2025

I will also add that while I understand that some people don't won't to or might not have the time to report bugs, it's never a good idea to presume they will just be fixed.

The issue is that there are so many different software and hardware combinations. It might be that no other member has the same setup that causes the bug that you have or uses the program that conflicts with Eset

  4. I will also add that each post related to similar issues can be a number of things. Often I'll see people post but never reply back and give the requested logs. The first post linked mentions 2 AVs which could have also caused conflicts.

I'm not trying to defend Eset here, just stating that often things that look the same can actually be many other things

ESET LiveGuard, it seems to me a very interesting feature in which no other antivirus has it. I have no interest in additional features, such as the password manager. Antivirus password managers seem like a very simple resource, I use 1Password and the features present in them are much better

I'd recommend at least internet security and the premium version if the extras are any good to you.

Nod32 is just an AV so it doesn't have stuff such as network protection.

These questions are intended for product managers, the opinion of support personnel is not relevant since we do not make decisions about future product features. You can post your wishes in "Future changes..." topics in the appropriate product forum here which are monitored by the responsible ESET staff, however, the primary source of future improvements are our partners and distributors who gather them from their customers.

As for the dark mode in ESET Mobile Security, it's already planned for future versions of the product.

Would it be beneficial to have a future changes form on this forum (mobile forum) as there doesn't appear to be one currently

My current sub to ESET Internet Security (2022) expires in a few days. I'm not sure whether I want to renew, or leave ESET for Norton 360, which has more features for a better price than ESET Advanced.

Norton includes a VPN, and I can get 3 PC protection for about the same cost as 1 PC with ESET.

I kind of hate to leave ESET after all the years I have used it, and been quite satisfied, but then, I don't know what Norton has done over the years to improve their product.

I have read several reviews comparing ESET Advanced to Norton 360, and Norton pretty much comes out the winner every time.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

    Ultrarunner

As this is an Eset form the answers are probably going to be to stay with Eset.

The only thing you can do is run a trial with Norton and see how it works and what you prefer. Some AVs can be very feature rich but can come with unnecessary extras which in turn slows down the system

  8. Suggesting a separate option to completely hide rather than fade the green border on browsers when browser protection is enabled.

I actually think it's a good idea to fade to show that it's enabled but there's a lot of posts from people who aren't pleased. Wondering if it would be worth this with a warning. I mean can't you disbale the AV and Firewall and hide the warnings? If so I suppose it's not much different

This does not work, the browser will still open with a green border but it disappears after 2 seconds, if i disable the banking security feature there is a red border that cant be turned off.

I liked about eset that it doesnt bother me, and this very much does, if i DISABLE something i expect it to be gone, hope this will be fixed soon otherwise ill just uninstal eset that should fix it....

The reason they have stated this happens is so that you know secure browser is working as if you did not see it, you wouldn't know that it wasn't. I'll suggest this in the feature suggestion bit as a lot are bringing it up

Well... short while? It's been a green border around my Chrome windows for at least 2 hours now ⏲

I unboxed the green frame-setting and now they directly disappeared, so thank you! 🙏

What Marcos meant is when the green frame is disabled it will still show up briefly on launching the browser. This is so that you can still see the browser protection is working

I'm so excited to hear about HIPS & Firewall improvement, but i know you will not open pandora box here LOL. Maybe just asking, is it posible to make the rows of the firewall rule to be red or anything that can warn user if path from the object is changed and will happy if spesific for the firewall rule and HIPS support export import.

I've often suggest a way to remove dead rules which I'm hoping they'll implent and also to be able to rearrange rules by names as well as an icon representing the apps

  12. I voted  equal for the footprint as I still find it's slow on start up, with the updates and start of scan but my computer 9 years old and think it's just getting slow in general.

I'd like to see more options for ransomware like the option to roll back, protected folders. Excited to see the firewall rules and wildcard for hips.

Thank you for posting. But the answer you have given is similar to other threads but the meaning or implication of the answer is not clear to me that's why I started this new post. When you said "If they are locked for an antivirus, they are locked also for malware" can I then safely conclude based on that statement and my log above that my BIOS/UEFI is clean?

A lot of files are locked so won't scan.  As Marcos shows in the screenshot the BCD logs are always locked.

If you want to be extra safe, flash the BIOS. One issue is even if an AV found a virus on the BIOS/UEFI it can't remove, you need to flash still

    Hello.

    Understood thanks

    1. What did you mean when you said you were suspicious of someone trying to infect you with malware?

    2. I have already updated the BIOS. However, most people may not be deleted, he said.

And I only have these 3 questions, really I will not ask anything else after these 3 questions:

    - Does Eset's advanced threat protection access the BIOS?

    - Does it detect mbr-UEFİ -bootkit and boot viruses as well as Eset BIOS viruses?

    - Since BIOS viruses can access the whole BIOS, if this UEFI setting is done by something else, it will not be prevented from scanning that UEFI and therefore cannot perform operations without being found by ESET?

I know I'm clean too, but I seriously feel like I need to make sure of that for some reason. @Nightowl

You keep asking the same questions after we have answered.

The simple thing is any kind of malware, eset should be able to detect. The only thing it may not detect is stuff that is new e.g. zero day vulnerabilities that have not been found yet.

The only problem is bios, UEFI etc. malware, AVs can only detect but they cannot remove - you will need to flash it. However these are generally targeted at high targets. Like Nightowl said government may want to steal state secrets from another government but there's no real point in trying to infect someone like us because there'd be no point.

Either accept you are not infected or flash it - there's no more answers anyone can give you.

i disabled keyscrambler and still browsers crash. Each time i enable/disable banking do i have to do pc restart? Its my main pc and its not an easy task to restart every time an option changes. i have lot of tasks to do after each restart and i want to avoid it

Do you mean disable or uninstall? If there are remnants e.g. drivers it could possibly be still causing conflicts

This is not good. 😕 I can understand removing automatic redirection, but why not leave it up to the user to choose whether they want to browse without or with increased security? Either running in secure browse all, or none at all times? That's a pretty ultimate choice. If I'm going through this, why would this choice exist in the first place? Then make it always and every time the browser is running Secure browsing, who would ever want to turn that off?

In my opinion, the option to launch the browser with Banking and payment protection when I require increased data protection should remain. As is currently possible. ✔️ :)

I mean when banking protection first was introduced a few years ago I questioned what made it more secure. If it has more features why is this just for baking, surely users would want this protection in general.
