So the reason why ESET products have incorrect names is very low level of computer literacy of users, right? That's really strange reason to give incorrect names to the products.

My point was most people in general think about antiviruses as general security programs. For example if you go onto the website for AVG Antivirus free it also finds malware, spyware etc.

The point is general people associate these kind of programs as antiviruses so it makes sense to market them as just that.

As someone who works in IT I can tell you there's more people who have heard of antiviruses and many who wouldn't even know what malware is

Even ESET NOD32 Antivirus detects all kinds of malware.

But most people know the word antivirus more than malware.

Many years ago it is true that AVs just focused on viruses but that has changed but as most people have gotten used to the word it has just been used to mean a general security products.

It's a bit like web designers Vs web developers. Designers generally focus on the design but it's now a general word for someone who creates websites

ESET protects from all threats which you mentioned. I found screenshots on ESET official website which prove that.

As Marcos has mentioned internet security does not actually say Antivirus in the name but also I think Antivirus is seen as a general term now as most people just  lump it with multiple things. It's the name most people know

    I use desktop for that.

I scanned these files via ESET Windows product, not Android. And jpg files are created via Google Drawings, so they have malicious links. Obviously you can't see that, but on my Google Drive I can see that. For example. Now the link on this picture is dead, but when I got this spam file on my Google Drive it was alive.

The link warns me on my phone via eset

I'm trying to contact the seller since my purchase.. Is my LINUX INTERNET SECURITY that needs be refund.. but not response about It..

Where did you purchase from? If it is an official Eset reseller show us where as it could be they have not removed the Linux home version from their site. I'm sure in this case they will probably help you with a refund due to the mistake.

If it's a site like let's say Amazon, as they are not an official Eset reseller and anyone can sell things on there, that is a different story. It's always recommended you buy direct from Eset or it's resellers. A lot of non official sites sell licenses that have expired or where for 1 user but have been sold to many so end up getting blocked

Maybe one more for firewall rules.

Description: Allow an option to import and export user made HIPS rules only.

Details: Currently it's possible to export full product settings, which ESET users highly appreciate, but a setting to import and export HIPS rules only will be very helpful too.

It would probably be easier if you could export specific stuff in general  or everything and when importing have the option to import everything or select certain stuff

I found nothing about stealers there.

Password managers as Marcos have mentioned tend to encrypt passwords.

In my opinion the way passwords most commonly get compromised is either

    1. They are used on multiple sites and one gets compromised

    2. Through phishing and signing up to dodgy websites.

For extra safety you could have some accounts with a unique password that isn't saved on anything. This could be used for example for a banking site.

Other recommendation is to enable 2FA whenever possible

Hello guys, since the day I installed Windows 11, I have been experiencing some weird issues...

My gmail account was signed in by an unknown device from United States.

I changed pass, enabled 2 step verification and signed out all devices.

Also my Instagram account email address was changed to aeanoajc@bountymail.net today. (I installed ESET on PC yesterday)

and I found and deleted 2 posts in my instagram page about elon musk money giveaways.

I never logged in Instagram on my new Windows 11 tho. I have it on the phone and I have ESET on my phone as well.

I did login Mail program with the email that uses Instagram tho.

I logged in my instagram account, changed password, changed email, added phone number and enabled 2-step verification.

I also unfollowed some instagram accounts that this guy followed using my account.

Funny thing I installed Windows 11 cause I heard their security is very good, TPM 2.0, secure boot enabled too.

I downloaded Windows 11 directly from Microsoft website and installed using Rufus from USB stick.

I connect to the internet using USB tethering from my Samsung A72 with 4G Unlimited Internet.

I updated my android's firmware few days before installing Windows 11.

Who could access my Instagram so easily? My PC is always secured when I leave from home, my house got Security Alarm and I have cameras as well.

    Any advices?

It's probably a password breach. Most people use the same password over multiple accounts and when one gets breached hackers will try the password on multiple accounts.

I'd recommend checking your email address at https://haveibeenpwned.com/and you can also sign up for breach alerts there

Hi I have a HP laptop and did an update to the HP Wolf Security; it's always been there on my laptop.  After rebooting this red frame appeared whether I had an application opened or just desktop.  I assumed it was wolf security but then I found this article https://help.eset.com/essp/15/en-US/idh_config_opp_badge.html  can anyone advise?

As far as I know the red frame should only appear on browsers. Are you stating all programs also have this as if so it might not be eset related?

Yeah, it needs to be analyzed manually.

I don't need replies as long as submitted samples get added to the database. Well, I have waited 2 weeks which is long enough. Too long I would say.

This happens when there is ulimited access to a sample queue processed entirely by real ppl :) Btw I dont think virus guys send replies to each such email. Your sample will be detected soon if it is not already.

Yeah the thing is in a world where new viruses appear all the time, while no AV can offer full protection, if a user submits a possible malware it shouldn't take 2 weeks to get detected. If actual malware that could have infected multiple users in the meantime

How much will the upgrade increase in price over my current version 15.2.11.0?

As mentioned your license covers past and future versions. It is licensed via a product rather than a version

Higher licenses can also be used on lower products e.g. a license for internet security will work on nod32 which has less features but the same license will not work on the premium version which has more featurez

  12. One thing that I'd recommend if you are concerned about ransomware is to have an offline backup

Ransomware can infect connected devices such as external harddrives and also synced cloud backup services. By having a local offline backup if your ever hit by ransomware you have your offline backup

Under real-time protection there are process exclusions which are applied only by real-time protection (logically these exclusions don't make sense for other scanners).

Under Malware scans the user can exclude specific exclusions for the particular malware scanner, e..g if the user wants to scans specific files only with specific on-demand scan profiles.

I will add I have seen this confusion coming up a few times. Maybe it would be handy if there was a general exclusion area. You could even possibly keep the individual ones but also a general area that had each one and explained what they where.

I think people see the individual ones and get confused, not knowing which one to use

I've tried it when I'm going to try to uninstall it at the time it's uninstalling from the BLUE SCREEN there when I go back to windows I try to uninstall it again from the blue screen again.
when i try to uninstall with windows safe mode i go and set it to go into safe mode when i restart the computer. it doesn't save the change i put to restart in safe mode.
I did a following test I went to remove any other program I restarted the computer and when I come back the program was installed there.
I checked to see if there is a program that freezes the machine.
What am I going to do and format the machine and the best way to solve it.
I thank you all in advance for your help.

Confused about this bust if might be a translation issue. Are you saying any changes to uninstalls are coming back when rebooted? Sounds like a virtual machine that is set to reset once rebooted if that is the case.

Also if this effects non Eset programs sounds more like a Windows issue

    Hi All,

I have ESET (at home, but I'm at work, so I cannot answer questions yet about which version or package).  My work's IT people were hit by lockbit 3.0.  That may have infected us at work too.

Does ESET recognize and address/remove lockbit 3.0?  Do I need a special malware package for this?

    Thank you.

I'm a little confused. Just to clarify the computer that Eset is installed has not been infected?

Most AVs generally have protection against ransomware but once it's infected removing the ransowmare itself won't decrypt the files.

There is no way to do this because the product does not open. I try to go to windows safe mode to use the tool but it doesn't go to safe mode.
1 - I did a test I removed any program that is on the computer I restarted the machine when I came back the program was there. as if windows had frozen to not let remove any programs on the computer.
2- I went to msconfig to enter safe mode on windows, restarted the computer but it did not enter. entered the normal account, as if it had not saved the settings I put.

Are you saying eset is not opening at all as unsure how you've shown a screenshot of the main homepage then

There is a handful of restrictions, such as the maximum number of files and their size that can be restored. Plus creating and keeping file backup has adverse effect on performance.

The thing is it might not be perfect and not always work but that also describes an AV in general. If it can help some people then surely it's got some worth
