  1. I'm just glad they got rid of the smart security version they had for version 10 - originally it appeared there would be nod32, internet security, smart security and smart security premium, with smart security just having one extra feature compared to internet security. I don't like when av's start bringing out too many versions as it can confuse the customer, and having that extra version they removed certainly would have done that. I don't think having internet and smart premium is too bad because the features in the premium are the kind of features only certain people would use. I use a desktop so don't really need anti theft and already have a sticky password premium lifetime license. I wouldn't have minded the encryption stuff but probably would have rarely used it. The only thing I can see annoying some is the fact the premium one has the anti theft which was included in smart security last time with internet security being smart security now.
  2. Yeah Eset has always seemed to do its own thing which I've liked but copying what the other vendors are doing and having so many versions just doesn't seem like them. Too much choice can actually do more damage than good as customers struggle to choose which
  3. Not keen on the multiple versions. I've seen a lot worse but having 2 versions the Antivirus and the extra higher one just makes it much easier. Too many AV's have multiple versions for choice but it ends up hurting the end user because they don't know what to pick e.g. avg I've seen has protection, protection pro, internet security etc.
  4. ... hxxp://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/slim I used to like the idea of having file cleaners and stuff in AV suites but then you realise it just bloats things, slows things down etc. I'm glad Eset seems to be sticking to what it does best and focusing on they key things rather than adding extra stuff. There's separate software for things like that. One thing I'd like to ask is does Eset use sandboxing technologies as if it doesn't it would be a handy addition, as it would mean possible infected/suspicious files would be tested in a virtual environment away from users files. I've also noticed Eset checks for windows updates. Would Eset consider looking for unsafe/dangerous settings. While Ccleaner is the main cleaning tool I use, I've used TuneUp Utilities in the past (Before AVG bought it), and the one good thing it did was look for settings that could put your computer at risk. Like I said earlier Eset shouldn't add cleaning tools but if it was able to suggest changes to further strengthen your computer, it would be great.
  5. Would be really handy to run the Firewall troubleshooter from the quick links bit and also activate/deactivate game mode. Certainly the Firewall troubleshooter - usually when something stops working the first thing is turn security off to see if it's a firewall issue so having that there to access quickly would be very handy
  6. Is there a way to change the options in the taskbar icons menu aka quick links?
  7. Updates can be delayed on the pro version I belieive. However the problem with Eset isn't related to the stable version of Windows - currently 10240. Windows offers a fast ring update setting for insiders that allows you to try what are in a sense Beta versions of Windows - new features etc. But Microsoft hasn't released all the necessary details to make Eset compatible. The fast ring updates should really only be used by professionals and for testing purposes.
  8. The whole point of these releases from Microsoft though is for developers. It's like Chrome - they have stable, beta and developer - developer version being very unstable and certainly not reliable. It's the same with updates in the fast ring with Windows 10 - It's for the pros. If you're using this product and expecting everything to work then the fast ring is more than likely not for you. Some products may still work, but doesn't mean they'd work in the next update. It may also have issues under the hood that you won't notice but could potentially put you at risk. Basically if you want stability stick with the public versions
  9. It's a risk that you have to take when installing unfinished versions.
  10. No go for me, infact is broke even more. :S I sent you my config @Marcos Are you using Windows 10? And if so if it the final release aka RTM version Yep, Windows 10. Its the EDU version (enterprise without long term servicing branch). Is it maybe related to the fact your on the EDU version? Might be different to the general version If you like Eset then why not just use the current stable version. Beta's are always going to be buggy and maybe some of the issues haven't been addressed yet but from my experience Eset has never released a new version till it's ready

  12. I had the same issue with the final RTM release of Windows 10 but fixed the problem. With Eset installed - Uninstall with Eset's Uninstall tool hxxp://download.eset.com/special/ESETUninstaller.exe You will need to go into safe mode to use the tool. Then download the latest beta and it should work. I presume using the general windows uninstaller is leaving some old files that are incompatible.
  13. When you say turn everything off are you turning it off or using the game mode?
  14. The size is also an issue for me but maybe slightly different. At the end of a scan the results are hard to read because you can't resize the screen so if the file found is a long filename it's hard to see the full details. Same issue in quarantine. I've took a screenshot to enphase this. As you can see there is no easy way without constantly adjusting the sliders to see all the information. This is even harder to do with the small results window at the end of a scan
  15. This has always been possible but only for potentially unwanted and unsafe applications for safety reasons. How do you do this? I have scanned a file Unlocker.exe which is a handy program that can unlock files being used allowing you to then remove, move, rename etc. The file gives you an option to install extra stuff so it can be classed as unwanted. However in the results section at the end I only see clean, delete and no action. Clean deletes it and no action only ignores it for one instance. Should I be seeing an option to add to exceptions from that scan result window? If not would you consider adding one - You could even have it to need a password to authorise it, to avoid anyone accidentally ignoring an actual virus.
  16. There is always a risk of issues when using a non stable version of Windows and it's recommended that the general public stick with stable. Eset might not want to make it compatible with the newer version in case they then update it again and eset need to fix it again. It's sometimes easier to wait till the final version
  17. Added a further image to show what I meant. The scan results are shown but the filenames are long so its awkward to read the full name, you have to keep dragging the box along. Would be easier if you could enlarge it
  18. I can do this with the actual results itself but the bit that asks you what actions to take doesn't seem to let me resize it. If you have long file names and lots of results this becomes tricky Even quarantine has the same issue but not as bad - As you can see with large filenames things become a pain to read. It would be good if you could resize all of eset's windows
  19. When Eset finishes scanning your computer the window with all the results is too small and you can't resize it. It would be good if you could put it into full size mode and resize the window.
  20. Eset has always been about lightweight programs and you'll notice that they don't tend to copy what others do - a lot of security suites add toolbars, extra stuff like cleaning unwanted files etc. These other companies have tried to turn their products into much more than security suites but have often in turn made their programs very bloated. One problem I have noticed with Eset though is the product hasn't been the sleekest design out there. I actually don't mind their previous design, it was very simple but it worked. The problem is though a lot of people are used to more graphic designs and might find Eset's old design a little off putting, possibly even complicated. Version 9 doesn't seem to slow my computer down although I have a generally new computer, an i7 with 7gb of RAM. What version 9 seems to do for me is take the speed of previous versions but with a design that is easier to use for people without a lot of computer knowledge. I love the fact that it includes a Firewall Troubleshooter Wizard that will further help people without much knowledge who wouldn't know where to look to allow a program access and would probably end up turning their firewall off to check if Eset is the issue
  21. I use FileHippo and other sites that use Disqus embedded into the site for comments and noticed an issue. For some reason Disqus wasn't working when trying to the load it via FileHippo.com which has it embedded. The Disqus website itself was working. I figured out eventually this was because it was set to ask in the advanced settings of the Banking and Payment area but Eset wasn't asking me anything with Disqus trying to load but unable to load. Turning it on to just use the normal browser allowed it to work as normal. Not sure how it got in that area in the first place considering it isn't a bank or payment site.
  22. One thing that I'd love is an option to always ignore (create an exception) in antivirus scan results. Basically when you finish a scan you have the option to delete/add to quarantine, to clean if possible and also to ignore. The ignore option is just ignore once, it would be nice if you could add the file into your exceptions within the scan results rather than having to go into the exception area and add it in manually, as some people might not be sure how to do this. It would make things a lot easier/quicker.
