With the new products Eset got rid of Smart Security for new customers. However current customers can still renew their licenses. With the new products internet security is the basic one and doesn't include anti theft. Smart security premium includes anti theft alongside a password manager and a secure data tool. However Smart Security still includes the anti theft feature so if you don't need the password manager and secure data tool it's better to upgrade to smart security unless you don't need the anti theft part.

How to disable upgrade splash screen
peteyt replied to Axere's topic in ESET Internet Security & ESET Smart Security Premium
I think people forget how far sadly cybercriminals have came. As newer threats come eset has to adapt or be left behind. Eset's older versions may seem to use less resources yet they didn't have to deal with as much either. Also I thought Version 9 was when the main big UI came. As far as I remember up until then the changes in the UI where small and basically each new version tended to look the same. I can understand why people prefered that look especially if you are used to it but a lot of newer users look for sleeker more modern designs. -
Eset security Win XP
peteyt replied to The Scorpion's topic in ESET Internet Security & ESET Smart Security Premium
I'm sure I read one of the mods had it working on XP but it's technically not officially supported. However I'm not sure about other people, but I probably wouldn't recommend using XP as it is no longer supported by Microsoft so it doesn't receive updates including bug fixes. While security programs will protect you to a degree I can imagine if a security hole is found you'd be at risk -
Scheduled Scans

Isn't a virus a type of Malware? I know as well as viruses Eset finds things such as potentially unwanted programs (PUPS). As for a PC Tuner, it's been asked for before and I doubt we will see it for exactly the reason you hinted at. Eset is a security suite and should really focus on that. For cleaning and stuff there are great free programs aka CCleaner. -
Since updating to the latest version 10.1.204.0 I noticed a change. When right clicking on the Eset icon in the taskbar I can see the firewall disable option (pause) alongside other options. However the pause protection option that used to be there is missing. Is this intentional and if so would eset consider bringing back the option. It was very handy having it there. Thanks

Would a fully customisable security suite ever be possible?
peteyt replied to peteyt's topic in General Discussion
Oh yes. What I was wondering and why I put it in general - do you think a security vendor could ever create a truly customisable suite. E.g. every feature you can think of but with the options to instal the features you want and leave the ones you don't during installation. -
One of the things I've noticed over the years on these forums is people asking for questionable features. By questionable I mean the extra stuff that many other security programs seem to come with these days, but aren't often needed and often if anything bloat the software and the users computer. Things like toolbars that can be annoying and cleaning tools which really should be handled by other software. However this got me thinking about something - Would a fully customisable security program work? By this I basically mean a security suite that worked on something like modules, with users able to pick and choose which modules they wanted. That way security programs could include extras that other people might want yet also give those just wanting the basics what they want. The problem is a lot of people seem to pick things not based on what features they have but the number of features. Phones are really bad at this, cramming 100s of features with a battery that can't often handle them, but knowing the more features they have the more chance people will buy. One of the reasons I use Eset is it sticks to what it knows, but I wonder if customisation could even work in a security suite. I suppose even if it could work, the price would be higher due to the amount of features.

Changelogs gone?
peteyt replied to peteyt's topic in ESET Internet Security & ESET Smart Security Premium
Wonder why they moved them. I liked having it separate as I had it in my bookmarks so I could check every so often -
Just wondering if the changelogs for eset have gone or moved? both https://www.eset.co.uk/Download/ChangeLog/EIS and hxxp://www.eset.co.uk/Download/ChangeLog/ESSH just redirect now to the main uk website.
