  1. Hello chuck. Would you be so kind to update this thread, when you and eset has come to a conclusion. I am really interested in hearing what has been found. Would really appreciate it. Had an infection on one of my machines, which I often uses to play with. The malware you described, had a behavior that reminds very much of what you seeing. It ended up with, that I reformatted the whole disk.( that was the only solution at that time)Just for the record, Eset were not installed, but is was another Av vendor. So that is why I am interested in what is found, or will be found. Regards, Janus
  2. Hey Carl S. I think the best advice here, is in your own post. Try to call Eset on the phone number given in your screen capture. I have no doubt that they will help you out. Regards, Janus
  3. Hey zloDi To exclude folders/files see this article, How do I exclude certain files or folders from Real-time scanning? but please take in mind that excluding a program does also mean that you exclude it from Real time scanning, and as such should be only used with caution. Regards, Janus
  4. Hey ugly Had you, password protection enabled? I mean, had you password protect your device? If yes then it should not be so easily uninstalled. No matter what, then it should not be so easy to shut down EMS. It would be nice if other users/Eset staff could confirm your findings. Maybe if Eset Mobile Security had "Captcha" installed, to confirm that a program shut down is the intention, would hopefully help regarding this issue. Regards, Janus
  5. Hello beekeeper42 Sounds as Eset is blocking a potentially unwanted program. Do you have a possibility to post a screenshot of the message displayed? And btw. what is the name of the software you are trying to get? Regards Janus
  6. Hello silverarc To exclude folders and files in beta 7, see attachment, and Kb. article for Eset: How do I exclude certain files or folders from Real-time scanning? Regards, Janus
  7. Hello randomname Regarding your question about your license. Then just write down your username and password before you reinstall your Os. You can reinstall and uninstall eset as many times you like, just as long you have a valid license then is everything okay. Regarding the Malware, then I think you will be better of, contacting your local Eset vendor for support to remove the malware on your system. Regards, Janus :-))
  8. Hello Venky The best approach is typically to follow the guidance from the Eset Kb. article: How do I submit a virus, website or potential false positive sample to ESET's lab? Regards, Janus
  9. Thanks TomFace my friend, for the kind words. Much appreciated, truly. (A kudo to you for your always pleasant acquaintance.) Sincerely, Janus :-))
  10. Hello Welshwood As to my knowledge there is no difference in protection, meaning that you receive the same protection regardless of you buying from google play or a local Eset vendor. But keep in mind that the higher price from the local Vendor is caused by the service/support you will get, if issues should occur. On the other hand ,if you should run into problems after buying from Google play, then you have us, the community, and Eset knowledge base. Personally I have bought from Google play, and have had zero issues Regards, Janus
  11. Hey webyonet, and wellcome ! Just my opinion, but I think it is wise not to run windows 8 new release (8.1) with any of Eset editions, old as new, because Eset have not yet announced full compatibility with windows 8.1 beta yet. In time there will be released an update of the modules without doubt, probably very soon. Regards, Janus
  12. Hey busekes Eset Beta 7 is not fully compatible with the new update of windows 8 to 8.1 yet. But you have to wait for the next update of Eset beta 7, then it will be ready to test on windows 8.1. Regards, Janus
  13. Hello grant7072 Just a supplement to your thread: hxxp://v.virscan.org/Win32/Chksyn.AO%20trojan.html Regards, Janus
  14. Hello AK The reason for your system slowdown is not caused by Eset 7 (beta) but more likely caused by your overall system requirements. The overall basis system requirements for running Windows Vista Home Premium SP2, is 1 GB of system memory. (source). Eset demands at least 512MB ram. So the problem is basically, that your system processes is struggling for workspace in ram. If you have the opportunity to buy at least 4gb of ram, then you will experiencing a more smoothly running system. Regards, Janus =)
  15. Hello Ibb9432 Specialized cleaner is not included in beta 7 yet. Will be incorporated in future beta releases. "Specialized cleaner will be a bundle of top 3-5 most prevalent critical malware infiltrations". (source). I know you wrote that you have enabled Anti Theft correctly, but anyway I will drop this link, just In case you missed anything: Activate and configure Anti-Theft protection in ESET Smart Security (6.x) .A second link to a similar issue from Wilders Forums:hxxp://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=339863 Regards, Janus :-))
  16. Hey Ess Fan If you want Automatic mode to remember special exception/rules to the firewall, then one of the ways is to shift to interactive mode, create the rules, and then shift back to Automatic mode , that now will remember you personally created rules Regards, Janus
  17. Hello BellaBoo Thanks for your constructive feedback, a kudo to you. Have a nice weekend, Regards, Janus.
  18. Hello brand0n That's because the specialised cleaner has not yet been released . Well be released in future beta updates. See this link, (scroll down a bit) : Known issues in ESET Smart Security 7 and ESET NOD32 Antivirus 7 (Beta) Regards, Janus
  19. Hello Eset (what became of the poll feature) Would it or could it be an idea to introduce a poll, about e.g. on one of Eset's beta 7 new features?. A poll can give a selective point of view on a special area of a product, and is an another way of getting a feedback. And at the same time very illustrative. The function "polls" were introduced in the making of this new forum, but was if I remember right, limited so it was only the moderators that could create a poll. If it is a function that is still in play, then it could be the right time with the release of the new beta. Regards, Janus
  20. Hey Darkseid As to my knowledge they are blocked by PUA (potentially unwanted applications) blacklisted site. Regards, Janus
  21. Hello patpat Have used Eset on Windows 8 the day Windows 8 were released. And so far version 6.0.316.1 has worked fine. Regarding uninstalling Eset using eset uninstaller tool, then I have not see any issues. (have used it a couple of times, out of curiosity). And I can understand from the post from Wilders that a restore to a previous restore point, before your problems occured, did not helped either. Please this is not meant as an insult, but if you are using a terabyte PC (or any other size of pc), then in the future you will have great benefit of installing a drive image backup software. This time was Eset apparently the villain?, but what about the next time you run into software issues? Regards, Janus
  22. Hey pazzo 1940 There is of course a chance, that it is still there, in one of your system restore points. The only thing you have to do is as first to create a new fresh restore point, and give it a name you can recognize. Restart you system, and be sure that it have created the new point. Then delete they old restore points manually, except the newly created point. Link: Delete a restore point Regards, Jannus
  23. Hey Again Swat Did you know, that even if you run a trial of Eset Smart Security or nod32, then you can still recive full suport from your local Vendor. The German vendor even have a remote support tool so they can solve issues remotely. Just wrote this, because if language is a barrier, then you still have this opportunity. Here is the link to local support:hxxp://www.eset.com/de/support/overview/ Regards, Janus
  24. Hello swat Take a closer look on this article, especially about protocol filtering. (if it is the new beta 7 that you are testing? Then is the advanced interface of the new beta and Ess version 6 the same, so you can still use this knoledge base article). Link: Slow or no Internet/network/printer connection: Solution checklist Bye the way, it is best to keep your post in English: Then will you post reach out to a larger audience. Mainly because, we the members of this forum, come from many different corners of the world. Regards, Janus =))
  25. Hey there BellaBoo If it is your purpose to download a certain program, and you have received a warning, that your download contains a unwanted program, then just stop the download, and download from the software vendors original website. It is of course, not a guarantee that your download is not wrapped with a potentially unwanted application. However, the probability is less. Even if we created a list of good trustworthy download sites, then there is no guarantee that the site will not change policy, to earn money, and include e.g. ask.toolbar in their download, someday. It has been seen many times before. So in the end we're left with our common sense. No security software out there is able to take, or advise us in every situation. See the warning about a potentiel unwanted program as a second chance to rethink, if it is the right download site that you have found. Regards, Janus
