  1. Hello fwojna No not currently, see this article updated from the 17 October this year: What operating systems are ESET products compatible with? (Home Users) Regards, Janus
  2. Hello FlexiPack You can try this: Go to C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Smart Security, and rename the file em001_32.dat to em001_32.dat.bak . Then reboot your system. Then should eset servise start. Regards Janus :-))
  3. Hey... Arakasi, Waterfox 64 bit is a good browser. Have used it in a project, and were very pleased about its performance . But somewhere along the way, I forgot about Waterfox. Will install it again, because I need a "good" second browser option. "Thanks you for reminding me" Hey TGW, really nice and strong setup. But It is definitely not for the average user to manages. I have used Shadow Defender before, but It is a couple a years ago. (now I use vmware if needed). Have tested Shadow Defender and it is a very solid light and flexible tool, with a extremely low system footprint. Another tool in your arsenal that I really like is Hiren's Bootcd. It is the most complex Boot cd I have ever used. It has never failed me, when I have to rescue some of my Gamer friends systems. It takes some time, to learn to control the many features, but it is time well spent, I think. Another nifty and more user friendly, but at the same time strong tool, is "Hitman pro "Kickstart usb tool". It is easier (and equally as strong) and a lot more user frindly than Eset rescue cd's.That is of course my subjective opinion. Thanks Arakasi and TGW for sharing. (Oh oh, have to run now, have a nice day.) Regards, Janus
  4. Okay I will start first. I use Eset Smart Security as "first line of defense" .....My browser is IE 11 with Activex filtering enabled, and with enhanced protected mode, and have Enable 64-bit Processes for the Enhanced Protected Mode ......As a on demand scanner I use Hitman pro. .....My backup solution is Paragon Backup and Recovery software. I have a backup capsula on hard disk, and have stored a driveimage of my harddisk in town, so I can recreate my system anytime... This is my primary setup, what is yours? Regards Janus :-))
  5. Hello Do you have a moment, ...thanks. I ask because my purpose with this post is to see, just out of curiosity, what other security software you have as a companion to your Eset product, if any. If you will post back? Then please hold this thread in a good tone, and give a constructive feedback. And if you see/read that a user use something that you think is, let say, of lesser quality, then please don't be harsh. You may write about: What browser do you use, and do you use script blocking? Do you have any other antivirus solution running beside Eset, real time or only on demand? Do you have an image backup solution, like Paragon backup and Recovery - Acronis-O&O Diskimage etc. If you use no backup solution, is it then because you have not thought about it? Regards Janus :-))
  6. Hello MrWrighty It was a tiny "slip" from Arakasi :-)). Version 7 belong to home editions, and you are right, Version 5.0.2214 is the latest in Eset endpoint security. Regards, Janus
  7. Hello Josip and wellcome It is always in my opinion way better to buy your Eset product from your official local reseller. If support is needed, then will the communication be much easier, with local support, and there will be less chances for misunderstood explanations, and of course no linguistic barriers. Regards, Janus :-))
  8. Hello Sorry for breaking into this ongoing thread, but my first thought is that it could be the Windows Installer service that could be corrupted? Try to read throgh this link, it could be that the solution lies here, hopefully: hxxp://support.microsoft.com/kb/2438651/en-us (under the point " Resolution" there is a software to automatically troubleshoot install problems,if you run the program then remember to reboot the pc before trying to reinstall) Regards, Janus
  9. Hey Carly I experienced the same as you. My solution were very simple and work well. I just rebooted the system, (Eset Smart Security 7 were in default configuration) and then my windows 8 pro apps were able to connect to the internet again. But anyway, it is best as Peter has suggested, to enable logging for better troubleshooting if other users should experienced the same. Regards, Janus
  10. Hey It is quite normal and only means that the Idle scan has been interrupted, while it was scanning in one of the three ways, screen saver is running, the computer is locked, or user logs off. So everything is okay. Regards Janus :-))
  11. Hello chrlshmn Oh ,while we're on the subject ,If you want to see what Eset has scanned while scanning under Idle state, then you shall activate or click , the box " activate logging" under Idle state scan in the advandced setup tree. Then will Eset creates a log for you to see, after scanning in this mode. Have a nice day..... :-)) Regrads Janus
  12. Hey again Chris :-)) Have been testing hitmanpro alert for a month with the major browsers IE 10-Chrome and Firefox, and there hadn't been any incompatibilities issues with Eset and hitmanpro atlert whatsoever. Personally I don't use it myself, I use a different approach to protect my browser and system. (Vmware + eset) My personal opinion is that it is a nifty little tool from Hitman Pro, ..... but we still have to use our common sense, when we do transactions on the web. Have a great week, over and out from me...for now Regards Janus
  13. Hello chrlshlmn You can safely use whatever browser you want, Eset will protect regardless of preferred browser. Regards, Janus ( take care my friend) :-))
  14. Hey Miiniiw If you will do a Full system scan, or configure a scan to your need, than just go to " Computer Scan", in the main user interface. There you will find, to the right of " Smart Scan", the feature "Custom Scan". You might also be interested in this link: How do I create a scheduled scan? (6.x) Regards, Janus :-))
  15. Hello Peter Randziak Peter thank you, for sharing this secret with us. But can't you withhold the final release to the 17'th, please. You see the 16'th is a really really bad choice, that date I have to, (forced to) go to a ultra extremely boring conference. So if you just hold back the international release to the 17th I would be grateful. I know you are the right man for the task. Regards Janus,
  16. Hello dmartisi You have probably thought about it, but if you have access to the web, either through a smartphone or through another computer (or a friends computer), then use that way to go to my.eset.com and report the computer found by clicking "I recovered my device" ( after that your normal user account will be re-enabled.) The other alternative is to use Eset local customer support in your country. Regards, Janus :-))
  17. Hello The best way to solve such an issue is to contact Eset in your country. Here is a link to Eset's official distributors of Eset's products : Select your country and language Regards, Janus
  18. Hey Karlisi, nice to see that you have found the way to Eset support forum. It is really nice to have you here. And it is also very nice, to see that more and more " Wilders" finds the way to this place. Regards, Janus :-))
  19. HelloTJP. It is nice to see you back to Eset. I haven't been with Eset as long as you. I first started to flirt, with Eset with version 4, and have been a steady subscriber since version 5. Have heard a lot of positive statements about version 2.7 (which is no longer supported). Anyway it is nice to have another power user on board. So from me to you a kudos, to boost your takeoff. Regards, Janus :-))
  20. Hello all Eset users.. My post is just meant as a reminder to us all, that we have to, as always, be careful and remember to check if and how you can close and delete and account (and your upload of images/statements,) before we toss ourselves into a new account/blog etc. Link to the site : Just.Delete.Me (the site show how easy or difficult it is to delete your account) Regards, Janus
  21. I think what Marcos means is that previously this form of memory scanning was only available during startup and on-demand scans. The limitations with this approach is that memory detection is reliant on a single snapshot of the memory. Now with it being available as a real-time detection, it is better able to detect suspicious and/or malware like behaviour patterns. Exactly. Threats detected by the Advanced memory scanner could be discovered even before by the on-demand or startup scanner, however, since they were run only intermittently there was a good chance new threats could run for a certain time until they were detected. And that is in my perspective a huge improvement. You could say that, Real Time scanning has been boosted, to higher level of protection,... I am tempted to say that we have reached full circle, regarding real time scanning. Regards, Janus :-))
  22. Hello briskethed and wellcome Would this help you, ;-)) How do I use ESET SysRescue to create a bootable USB disk, CD or DVD on a 32-bit Windows system? or How do I use ESET SysRescue to create a bootable USB flash drive, CD or DVD on a 64-bit Windows system? ( I guess that you are using 64 bit, if so, then you shall use the last link of course, ) Regards, Janus
  23. Hey chrlshlmn In the scan log, as you know, you will often see the message "error opening ....and then the name of the file. It is quite okay, it only means that the file is currently in use by other programs or background processes, or the file is password protected and therefore can't be scanned. All these files will be scanned when windows is shutting down ,and with windows restart. Regards Janus :-)) , (have a nice and malware free weekend my friend )
  24. Hey Boreq Some suggestion from me, :-)) Try to do a "roll back" of the database by following these instructions: How do I rollback virus signature database updates on ESET Smart Security/ESET NOD32 Antivirus? (6.x) If this does not help then do a new install, see here: manually uninstall Regards Janus
  25. Hey cutting_edgetech I have not noticed any issues with pre released enabled, using Windows 8 pro 64/ and windows 7 64 bit as a platform. Windows 7 is using Ess version 6, and windows 8 using version 7. Regards Janus :-)) (have a nice weekend)
