Just some things I found out: Here you get more information about this threat, but this don't helps you so much. On Virustotal the only 1 service thinks it's a malicious site (and that's not ESET) If you visit hxxp://utils.cdneurope.com then there's displayed a warning about "potentially unwanted content" by ESET There are detected more malicious javascript files by Virustotal the site has no really useful content (no pictures, and error file at the main) and it's hosted on a shared hoster (GoDaddy.com) - Source most visitors come directly to this site (that means they don't come from any website before - like entering the address directly in your web browser or opening a bookmark) - Source So IMHO it doesn't look like a false positive, but it would be nice to get more information: What is/are exactly the site(s) you visit if you get this warning?

This is an interesting thread and I don't want to re-"heat up" this lively discussion ( ) but just some points I noticed: You only answered one question. @sky7 asks 4: Just something that I can say about it: 3. In any case they know your country/region you set up during activating/buying your ESET (trail) licence. But whether they also send your OS-Language to ESET I don't know. 4. In any case they can identify you (with your ESET Update-Username) but whether they deliver special updates...? You mean they could send VIP-Updates? I don't think that they do so, but you're right that you can't be really sure if you have no official source (e.g. an official answer) from ESET. - And I haven't, so I can't circumstantiate it. And about "silly questions": It shows a very good kind of support and customer communication of companies if they also answer silly questions. In this case ESET can answer "Yes" and "No" and maybe explain why this question is not a such important factor for privacy protection. Really? Your network traffic is encrypted? If that's true then it's really a bad thing and it should be improved! Especially because ESET also supports to use a proxy-server for updates and if this data is non-encrypted than every proxy server can freely read all usernames and passwords of users. OK, now some advantages of WinPE-based SysRescue: Many users are accustomed to use windows you can add windows-software maybe there are more drivers available you can create a new CD with all signature updates included every time (in the Linux-based version you had to use the ISO and then you had to update the signature database every time you put in the CD) you can select your MSI-file (of the ESET software) during the process of creating a SysRescue CD/DVD/USB, so you maybe are able to use an old version of ESET you can manually add drivers [Edit - Added later:] The WinPE-based SysRescue is (for all I know) available in the native language of the user. Maybe, but don't forget that it only protects your external (USB) drive and can't scan your PC! For really "rescuing" your PC you should use ESET SysRescue (Live). The ESET SysRescue Live is the Linux-based system and it's free to download. To use the "normal" SysRescue (without "Live" in the name) you have to install an ESET software (ESS or Nod32) and run the tool "SysRescue" in the part "Tools". So maybe you can burn it on CD manually. And about the size: The ISO-Image is 324.9 MB large, so the installation on the CD/DVD/USB should also take about 324.9 MB.

There is a strange language switch at the bottom of the forum. What can I switch here? It's an ESET forum so why I can switch to "English (USA) (ESET)"? And what's the difference between this "languages"?

That's normal, because the first "enable protection" displays the actual warning state respectively a tip how to solve the problem and the second "enable protection" is always there (if protection is enabled there is shown "disable protection").

Here my answer to your answer : - After installation there pop-up many windows at once. (It's not such bad but it isn't nice too.) We can't reproduce this. Could you possibly provide us with a screenshot? Yes, of course. Here you can see 3 windows showed at one time: - Removing the volume securely (with Windows feature) don't work correctly. After trying to do this - DriveSecurity exits but then you can't remove the drive securely too. DriveSecurity needs to be stopped first; there is a turn off button on the Dialog or you can right-click on the system tray and exit. What about making a button "Stop DriveSecurity and remove USB drive securely" (like another software can - even if it is started from the USB)? Yes of course the ESET products also can protect against maleware on USB drives, but the special thing about DriveSecurity is the fact that it protects your USBs also on computers where no ESET software is installed. And due to this fact you maybe should get a few licenses with ESS/Nod32. (see #7) And also don't forget the two things I added: add localisations (other languages) to DriveSecurity the bug in the shop (see #4) And there is also a new thing I want to ask: Does DriveSecurity use (Advanced) Heuristic and/or ESET Live Grid? If not you could add this.Just a funny thing at the end: The DriveSecurity main exe-file hasn't a such good rating at LiveGrid. It's developed by ESET but not alone. They develop it with ClevX, aren't they? I think they are able to do this. And if not they can maybe only add an possibility to get the licenses for DriveSecurity if you bought ESET Smart Security and you must download the installer files yourself. That would also save disk space. No way! I also don't want this. But there's a (huge) difference between "system performance booster" and "USB-antivirus". ESET is a antivirus (or "anti-malware") company and not a "tuning up your pc-company" - And that's good! So it's also good if they improve malware protection (with products like DriveSecurity) but they never should make a system-booster tool into their anti-malware-software (like Norton 360° e.g.). And I also have an idea for buying. If this tool is why not include it inside ESET Smart Security (or also an other ESET product), so you have a comprehensive protection against maleware? Just add the ability to install 3-5 versions of DriveSecurity from ESS. Now I already know this! But the simply questions is: Why? Why are you suspending non-American-customers? Why is the use of this "tool" by non-amercian users (also if they bought an ESET product!) not only frowned upon but strictly forbidden? I know it might not the best for many users (especially for those who don't speak English very well) to get a cyber training that's not in their native language, but if they really want to do this training and maybe also understand English quite good... Why do you prohibit it for them? And there are also people outside of the USA and Canada who understand English! You block the access to this training for them too! And why I can't use an ESET Multi-Device Security to access this training?

You can't disable notifications for ESET in the registry, because they aren't shown by Windows but by ESET. But if it's the same as on the consumer products you can disable notifications in the ESET settings. You can also adjust more special options about notifications.
