  1. I agree. There is nothing more frustrating to me then having a software vendor create a new GUI and move everything some place else in the program just for the sake of a new GUI. If it improves the flow of the program then I understand, but change for the sake of change is pointless. I don't understand the need for a new GUI if the current one works nor do I understand why people want them. I would much rather see the effort be put under the hood to protect me. After the initial setup and scheduling I don't spend very much time staring at the EIS GUI. It does it's thing in the background and I do my work on the desktop. But that's just me, the simpler things are the better I like it.
  2. I am receiving the unable to connect to the live grid error on boot. First time occurred at 11:50 PM EST Saturday and did not correct. Again at system boot this morning at 5:05 AM EST but corrected by 5:15 AM without my intervention in any way. I have not experienced this error prior to last night and this morning. My Internet connection is permanent and stable at 60 mbps through a wired connection. EIS 11.0.144.0 on Win 7 Pro x64. On Edit: 6:09 AM EST. Just received the error again and lasted about 2 minutes. Seems to be randomly occurring.
  3. Great. Maybe it was just a install hiccup. I had a few but they all settled down now.
  4. The moving dot at the end of "Computer Scan" indicates there is a scan in process. Click on "Computer Scan" to check it's progress.
  5. For what it's worth. I had the same issues on my win7 pro system with both versions of 10. it was an Eset issue without a doubt. It would block all start up programs until it was finished with it's scan and update. I have been chasing this problem for several weeks. I removed Eset v10.x and rebooted in preparation for a clean install of v11 and the issue was gone. With v11 installed I no longer have any start up issues. Give v11 a go. I strongly suggest you do a clean install.
  6. There is noting on the splash screen about signature update here either. I don't think that there is a "signature update" I think it is now called a "detection engine" and it's version number shows on the update notification and in the "installed components" list. Currently 16301. I can not find anything titled "signature update." This does not mean that it doesn't exist, it means that I can't find it if it does. Are you still getting the file rename error? By the way I had "senior moments" before as well. However they have now become "normal moments."
  7. Tom, I had to do a full restart on the system after install and the initial scan. In fact I did two I didn't have the error you show but a few other things didn't look right all is OK now. Clean install on Win 7 Pro x64. If you didn't do a restart it may help to clear things up I think I read where the tool tip on the tray menu Eset icon is by design. Something to do with less need for updates due to new methods. If I can find it I'll post a link.
  8. I had exactly the same results and it was also reported in a different thread by another user. It appears that the server is very busy.
  9. OK thanks for letting us know that you are no longer using Eset products. I can say that I have never had a slow down with Eset but that's just my experience on two systems which has remained consistent.
  10. It sounds like you are no longer using an Eset product. If I'm wrong then the version number is easily found. If you are having difficulties finding it let us know.
  11. Yes exactly. That's why I mentioned it. I spent a lot of time on GRC when I first got on the Internet. GRC.com has never been big on Graphics but big on the information I needed when I was a babe in the woods on the World Wide Web. I knew nothing about it or Windows for that matter. Prior my computer experience was with DOS.
  12. Tom, you can get to the GRC Shields up port scan by going to the main site here: https://www.grc.com/intro.htm Then mouse over the "Services" drop down on the upper left side of the page and select "Shields UP!" on the menu that opens. On the page that opens find and left click the "Proceed" button in the center of the page a third of the way down. (If you have not run the test before you might find it interesting an interesting read) On the next page below the blue banner "ShieldsUP! Services" left click "All Service ports" A new page will open and the test will begin. I had the same result as you using the link provided in other posts.
  13. I recently had to do a Chkdsk on my older system. Took a bit longer with the same result. Not related to any issues with EIS but with a website problem and freezing the system. It was a scare ware attempt. It worked, it scared the you know what out of my wife. No problem to fix but it took a while. Hope everything goes well for you and you don't have any more problems.
  14. Oh My, it's one of the dreaded "I've Never Seen That Before" issues. Along with a reboot as suggested by itman you can also try a "Repair" by going to "Programs and Features" in the control panel and right clicking the Eset install and select "Change" giving you the opportunity to repair the install. Of course this won't tell you why it broke but it may fix what's broken.
  15. I'm just guessing, it's probably because the public beta has not been released.
  16. I believe that CCleaner, at some point in the past, was trying to pass some sort of tool bar in the install before Chrome. But maybe not. My personal memory isn't what it used to be. I always installed the Slim version and never updated through CCleaner. It sure is getting dangerous and freaky on the Internet. I wonder about all this cloud stuff going on and how long it will be before someone, a corporate entity or government finds away to take it all down. Probably they already can .
  17. I don't know about law enforcement looking in to CCleaner but I stopped updating it back in January. I'm still on Win 7 and will stay here till who knows when. Most all programs updating today, except Eset, seem to be for Win 10 requirements.. In fact nothing is allowed to auto update, except Eset, or unnecessarily connect to the internet I'm not sure if I was involved in the Equifax mess or not. I don't trust them enough to find out on their website. I froze all my credit and changed all my passwords. In my US State freezing .your credit is free with a $5.00 charge to unfreeze it. I have no plans for requiring new credit for much of anything in the near future so it was the easiest thing for me to do. I'm sure my solution is not for everyone but according to most sources it's the best one.
  18. The breach occurred in May and continued, unabated, through July as I read it. Yes, they will just monitor it and tell you how bad they screwed up your life. Maybe a few apologies but then zero. Basically look we said we were sorry .. now go away. Oh, and please sign up for our monitoring so we can COA (first two words are "Cover Our" you can guess the last one) for future damages to us. Why would anyone take the advice of a company that just allowed the world in to their wallet? I wonder who or what was providing security to Equifax? Bet you can't tell that this kind of stuff really ticks me off.
  19. That's right they have been "learned" but we will ignore those "Learned lessons" and carry on as if it never happened, as usual. By the way, what time is it?
  20. So I do my best to protect my data by using common sense and use top of the line home computer security. Meanwhile, Equifax allowed the world access to data that may be mine from May to July 29 and didn't get around to letting us know until September. Oops! Sorry about that but we, the executives at Equifax, needed the time to sell off our stock before the price dropped on this information.. But it's OK because Equifax is going to help me protect my credit by offering free credit reporting protection, provided by them, "if" I go to their website and provide more information to them. In addition they will provide information on steps consumers can take to protect their personal information.... Yeah right... Why do I have to go give them more data to protect me? If it's been breached just send me a letter telling me they are "now" protecting my data. Oh never mind, from what I hear their protection isn't working very well these days. I guess the best way to protect your credit is not to have any.. Take your money out of the bank stuff it in your mattress and pay cash for everything. But then capitalism would collapse because it won't work without people being in debt. Things are going a bit faster on that slippery slope. hxxps://investor.equifax.com/news-and-events/news/2017/09-07-2017-213000628 {Ends Rant and walks away mumbling obscenities.}
  21. You should create an image of your drive in it's current state no matter what you do. It's always nice to be able to get back to where you started.
  22. I don't use Sticky Password but became curious. I don't speak or read German so I don't know what the error in your post says. Do you get the connection warning on download of the plugin, trying to install it or when you enter your credentials to log in to Sticky password? I'm just guessing but it looks as if you are not signed in. On Edit: Did the problem start right after you updated the plugin?
