  1. Thank you Marcos. It had me going in circles.
  2. I'm getting up there in my years and haven't posted in a long time. I am attempting to connect a Streaming device, Roku, to my windows 10 computer through Wifi. I have manged to get my Wifi up and running and have managed to connect to the device as it is listed on the WiFi Network in EIS. So far so good. Then I need a way to show the output of the streaming device. This required the installation of software From PLEX.com called "Plex Media Server" and all went well. After configuring settings as needed I attempted to make the final connection which would display the device in a web browser window, FireFox. Obviously it didn't work. As soon as it attempted I started receiving repeated warnings that a website was blocked about every second. So now I'm stumped. I loaded the url in my browser window and there was no block and the results in the browser were the words "Microsoft NCSI." Due to the block I'm not sure if or how I should post the website URL thatis being blocked by EIS. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
  3. I just checked and all caught up in My Eset so all is OK thanks for you prompt reply.
  4. Thanks Marcos. I'm getting old and forgot about the beta testing. I removed the last device shown in your response. It's still showing as over used but I suppose that will get caught up. The only other thing I see is that the first device is being used ion daily basis yet is shown as not active. The second device is my new desk top. If this is not an issues then I will mark this topic closed. I appreciate your help.
  5. My Eset shows I have two licenses, 2 devices under under EIS. It claims that I am using three devices, I am not. Then there is the mystery 3 device license for Eset Premium which I never purchased. I just added my new desktop which should not have put me over as I removed one from my EIS license. It's the first time I've been to MYEsit since 2019 so I have no idea how long it's been that way. I can't figure this out. Help would be appreciated
  6. Got it, Turns out I had made the change already. My memory just isn't what it used to be. Getting old isn't fun at all, but it beats the alternative. Thanks to both of you for your help.
  7. Thanks for the reply. How do I contact ESET LLC?
  8. My EIS license for two machines is set to auto renew in 13 days for two years. Two months ago I had an attempted fraud on my credit card and now have a new one. How can I check and edit the payment method for the auto renewal? I looked through My Eset but I don't see the payment method.
  9. I've had issues with the Eset tray icon from time to time as well on my Windows 7 Pro system. I created a shortcut to C:\Program Files\ESET\ESET Security\eguiProxy.exe which always resolves the issue until it again decides not to show. When running the shortcut it also opens the GUI. Closing the GUI leaves the Icon. Oddly I have never had the issue on my Windows 7 Home Premium system. It doesn't happen often, maybe once every couple of months or so. I really haven't made any effort to track it accurately nor any serious attempt to figure out why it does what it does. I don't find it to be that big of a deal. After all the protection is always running just occasionally not the proxy Icon. But that's just me. I've been using Eset products since v3.x and it's going to have to be a way bigger issue then an Icon not showing up from time to time for me to think about making a change. I have never had any infections of any type so it's difficult to argue with success. That is what's most important to me. In the past, every few years I looked around and tried different products. For one reason or another I found them unacceptable. I always ended up restoring my backup image and renewing Eset. I don't even bother with that time wasting exercise any more.
  10. I did a in product update to the latest v12. I always do a clean install for major product updates ie v11 to v12. I don't use a password on Windows and have no other issues with EIS. Because of the intermittent surfacing of this issue I believe it would be would be difficult at best to determine the cause.
  11. Hey Tom, I've had a similar problem going back some time regarding the tray icon. I have the icon hidden by the system now. I gave up on the splash screen a long time ago and have it turned off. I developed a more reliable method method to assure me that Eset is running using some simplified programming language. I am on Win7 also maybe that's the issue. Either way as you said it's small potatoes. Regarding your Carlin quote, the forecast for tomorrow is: Decreasing darkness giving way to increasing light. I guarantee this forecast is 100% accurate.
  12. Comparing the time taken to scan thousands of files seems to be some what flawed from system to system. I have two systems. One with a dual core slower CPU and 5 gigs of RAM. The other has a much faster quad core CPU with 8 GB of RAM. The time difference is about 45 minutes or more longer on the slower system with basically the same number of files. If you are using a SSD as opposed to a Spinner I would think that it would also make a difference with the increased read time of a SSD. Both systems are running Windows 7. I don't have a clue as to what the time would be on Windows 10 and never will. When I am performing a scan I do not use the computer during the scan. I will scan when I'm finished with it for the day and let Eset turn the computer off when it's done. To be honest I don't do a full scan very often as I feel if Eset is watching everything in and out along with start up and update scans I just don't see the need. But that's me.
  13. I agree. There are already many tools in EIS I don't have a need for. Most programs will automatically check for updates if you want them to. Besides it would probably increase the price.
  14. How much time do you spend looking at Eset after you set it up? For me I see it occasionally but not that often to get bored. Actually just the opposite. I know the interface and new colors would just make doing what I need to do take longer until I adjust to it. Which means a longer time before I can get back to using my computer. Besides I would much rather have Eset spend it's time and effort under the hood then on a new paint job. But that's just me.
  15. Just checked and I'm not seeing a problem.. I'm on regular updates. 16. I apologize. I was not clear on exactly what was restarting egui.exe or ekrn.exe or both. That's pretty much describes my finding, as I previously stated, when I click the Start Menu entry for Eset, including the Icon closing and reopening. If I had to guess I'd say it's just replacing one instance with a new one. I must admit that I have never used the Start Menu entry for Eset in all the years I've been using it. I use the System Tray Icon to open the GUI. Having said that I don't see any issue caused by the Start Menu except it closes the existing GUI instance and opens a new one. Are you having issues as a result of the action described?
  17. I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "EIS being restarted." Clicking the Eset entry in the start menu has the same effect as left clicking the icon in the system tray and the same effect as right clicking the Icon in the System Tray and left clicking "Home" on the Icon Menu, the GUI opens. I have monitored the exercise in Sysinternals Process Explorer and find that by clicking the start menu entry a second egui.exe process starts and then immediately closes if that's any help. However I do not see it having any effect on my system other then described. I have Windows 7 Professional on this system and Windows 7 Home Premium on the other, both SP1.
  18. I'm running EIS v11.2.49.0 on two Win 7 systems without issue since it's release. Did you install over the previous version or a clean install?
  19. The easiest way to determine when Eset updates and when it tries , at least for me, is shown below. It's found by clicking "update" from the home screen Updates can also be checked in the log files under "Events" Do you by any chance run full screen programs? I ask because I don't think Eset will notify you on full screen. If you've already been through all this please ignore. Just a guess on my part.
  20. You may get a better answer by contacting the wjst x software author. Here is a link to their support page: https://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/k1jt/support.html
  21. I think this post states the issues the OP is having: https://forum.eset.com/topic/16163-how-to-eis-112490/
  22. I believe this is an ongoing discussion in another thread. You may find some information here: https://forum.eset.com/topic/16132-eset-internet-security-not-wotking-on-windows-insider-17713/
  23. Well said and completely agree. My post reflects my experience and should be taken as such along with the above from TomFace. As with any software your experience may be just fine. However, I will endorse and recommend Eset products to anyone that asks as they have served me well and have kept my systems safe and clean for many years.
  24. Like TomFace I also have a life time license with MBAM and can not, will not, use it. Most all my issues developed after v3.x was released and are described by the OP. I tried subsequent releases of MBAM but still had to many problems on my otherwise smooth running Windows 7 x64 Pro machine and my Windows 7 x64 Premium machine. I have an aversion to setting exclusions for anything in EIS. (Formerly ESS). However, having said that I did give the exclusions described by COStark26 a go. I also set exclusions in MBAM for EIS. While the problems were less pronounced I still had unacceptable issues both constant and intermittent. With MBAM not running and using it as a secondary scanner only issues still presented themselves simply because it was installed. After I completely removed the MBAM install with their clean tool and did a clean EIS install I haven't had any issues on either machine. MBAM provides some protections already in EIS. Given the issues MBAM has had in the past, the resources used by MBAM along with the never ending issues introduced with updates to the program I decided to go with my resource lean, reliable, tried and true install of EIS. It should be noted that I did not remove EIS to try MBAM as the only protection install. Simply put I don't trust MBAM to protect my systems nor do I want to waste my time with their development issues. My only reason for having MBAM installed initially was for a second opinion scanner. Back in the v1.x days it worked perfectly and I purchased my life time license to support the program. In v2.x some problems developed but were manageable. When v3.x was released it all went down hill immediately for me. The only way the OP will know for sure is to remove MBAM completely. Do a fresh install of the chosen Eset product and see if the issues are resolved. If the problems are resolved then the OP can remove Eset and try using a clean install of MBAM to insure there are no problem. I can't help feeling that there will be issues with MBAM only, but as I said I never tried for the reasons stated. As TomFace has said the OP is more then likely going to have to pick one or the other for a trouble free OS
