  1. Does the problem persist after switching to pre-release updates in the advanced update setup and rebooting the computer?
  2. To my best knowledge, this was addressed in the latest version of Parental Control. What version do you have installed?
  3. Please collect logs with ESET Log Collector as per the instructions linked in my signature and provide me with the generated zip archive.
  4. I mean ERA policy. Check client details in the ERA console and details of applied policies. If rules are set by a policy, the user won't be able to create own rules.
  5. Does turning off "Do not display notifications when running applications in full-screen mode" make a difference?
  6. Are you able to open https://edf.eset.com/edf in a browser? Is a short xml file displayed?
  7. Rules can only be created by users with administrator rights and only if firewall rules are not locked by a policy. Can't this be the reason?
  8. 1, Try turning off the option to activate gamer mode if an application running in a full-screen mode is detected. Haven't come across other reports about this behavior manifesting when switching between applications. 2, V10.1 does not contain any major bugs, quite the contrary. It fixes several bugs from v10.0. The fact that the option to temporarily pause protection is missing in the tray icon menu is a minor bug that cannot compare to bugs preventing the user to work with the computer. Moreover, 99,99% of users should have no reason to turn off protection. I do that because I intentionally play with malware but can't imagine why home users (perhaps with the exception of advanced users) would need to do that. Please clarify. ESET pays attention to quality and QA tests are performed before each release. As I have stated elsewhere, the problem with missing option to pause protection has been fixed and the fix will be included in 10.2 which is planned to be released later this year.
  9. Make sure that access to ESET activation servers is permitted on a firewall if you use one: http://support.eset.com/kb332.
  10. V10.2 is not planned to be released any time soon. We're now in the process of releasing v10.1.
  11. The pre-release detection engine module has P in the version number, e.g. 15419P.
  12. See my answer above. ESET products detect all known variants of WannaCrypt. However, on unpatched systems only ESET Endpoint Security v6 and latest home products with firewall can block SMB exploits at the network level.
  13. Monitor all processes, ie. don't use any filter. Upgrade should not take more than a few minutes so the generated log should be too big.
  14. In terms of file detection, it protects you. However, on unpatched systems only ESET Endpoint Security v6 and home products ESET Smart Security v9+ and ESSP/EIS v10 can intercept exploitation attempts on the network level with the network protection module. To get protected against exploitation of CVE-2017-0144, please install the appropriate security hotfix.
  15. Not sure what you mean. Pre-release updates are downloaded only if you have them selected in the advanced update setup. Otherwise you download regular updates.
  16. If you are able to reproduce it, please generate a Process Monitor log during upgrade from v9 to v10. When done, compress it, upload it to a safe location and pm me a download link.
  17. Please provide a Process Monitor log from the time when the issue occurs. For instructions how to generate a Procmon log, see the appropriate link in my signature.
  18. ESET has detected it since version 15403 in memory and since 15404 on files on a disk too. As for the vulnerability CVE-2017-0144, ESET has protected users from malware exploiting the vulnerability since April 25 by the network protection module present in Endpoint Security v6, ESET Smart Security v9+ and ESET Internet Security v10 even if the appropriate hotfix from Microsoft was not installed.
  19. Don't do that. Your local LAN should be trusted. If you set is as public, communication between local computers and devices may be blocked.
  20. The problem with WSC not recognizing ESET is most likely outside ESET. If you want to roll back to v9 (not recommended as it doesn't contain ransomware protection, advanced script scanner, etc.), you can uninstall v10 and install v9 from scratch. I'd suggest uninstalling v10.0.390, using the Uninstall tool in safe mode to ensure that it's completely removed and then download and run ESET Live Installer which will download and install v10.1.
  21. It was just a joke by itman. Of course, ESET does not know your surname so we don't distribute updates gradually to users depending on their surname.
  22. This option will be brought back in v10.2. To put it right, I didn't mean to discourage you from upgrading to 10.1 or newer versions; it's important to always use the latest version for good reasons. Only in case you often use the function for temporarily pausing protection from the tray icon menu, you might not want to hurry with upgrade to 10.1.
