  1. I didn't know about it honestly , but that was a good read if you are interested : https://blog.avast.com/update-ccleaner-attackers-entered-via-teamviewer Are you sure that ESET doesn't filter PaleMoon? , but I don't think that matters , because the first block happened while the browser was trying to save the file , It didn't filter the website , but it did block the executable from being on the PC
  2. Hello, CCleaner is a trusted software as far as I know and it doesn't do any harm , could it be a false positive or my other computer did act up? I've tried both times on different PCs , but each PC gave a different result Laptop I have tried to download CCleaner and ESET has detected it as 'Suspicious Object' and blocked the download from being completed using Chrome and Edge, I have restored it from Quarantine , and I have installed it and ESET didn't warn me again about it after Restoring from Quarantine , and no I didn't exclude it. PC I have tried the download using PaleMoon , and it worked without any trouble without ESET blocking it Both computers do use 12.0.27.0 Internet Security.
  3. Uninstall the device and remove driver files , and then install the one that you have downloaded from AMD site and see if it makes any differences
  4. It's already stated here : https://forum.eset.com/topic/17281-eset-windows-home-products-version-120270-have-been-released/
  5. That's why I have included virusbulletin page. , and in the malware results it performed better with the lowest false positive among others which is a very good thing. nevermind , sorry for my mistake.
  6. Oh my mistake , but what is the difference , they both do test AVs according to their test methods.
  7. Update channel is regular and not pre-release here , I don't know if it makes any differences.
  8. It seems that it has been reverted to 1331 over here , using ESET Internet Security 12.0.27.0
  9. You are welcome Malware test for ESET is available here September : https://www.av-comparatives.org/tests/malware-protection-test-september-2018/
  10. Is there any suspicious device in your network that doesn't belong there?, your WIFI is secure right? You can check installed certificates in Firefox , Options>Privacy&Security>Certificates>View Certificates , see if you could find the SSL certificate over there.
  11. It might be maybe because that uTorrent is known to host ads in their program, anyway it's better that you have switched.
  12. We all respect everyone , but it's up to the company to decide whether they want to release a free product or not, as others have said you can use Windows Defender as part of Windows Security , I think Windows 7 does have : https://cloudblogs.microsoft.com/microsoftsecure/2013/11/14/windows-defender-and-microsoft-security-essentials-which-one-do-i-need/ but If you feel that you don't want to use what Windows 7 offers as Security , you have different other options to try like Kaspersky Free and the list goes on if you use Google 'Free Antivirus'
  13. Just avoid software that will throw at you toolbars and ads/pop-ups.
  14. Indeed you receive the update through the update channel in ESET , your settings will migrate from 11 to 12.
  15. For anyone interested in what is the browser(website) doing in the background you can download an add-on called uMatrix, it's similiar to NoScript also HTTPSEverywhere does help and improve web browsing.
  16. Software that gives you Ads/Pop-ups doesn't deserve to stay in your PC in my opinion , that's why stick to a torrent client that won't give you ads/toolbars/pop-ups , If you are used to uTorrent interface then Qbittorrent is based on it and open source , give it a try.
  17. Av Comparatives September 2018 : https://www.av-comparatives.org/tests/real-world-protection-test-september-2018-factsheet/ VirusBulletin : https://www.virusbulletin.com/testing/results/latest/vb100-antimalware AV Comparatives Quote : We would like to point out that while some products may sometimes be able to reach 100% protection rates in a test, it does not mean that these products will always protect against all threats on the web. It just means that they were able to block 100% of the widespread malicious samples used in a test.
  18. It would be better to install software that won't throw at you useless toolbars that would end up giving you ads or pop-ups , ditch uTorrent , there are better alternatives like Qbittorrent(based on uTorrent) or Deluge (open source). It made your setup crash because ESET tried to clean the toolbar from the installer , so the installer crashed. uTorrent uses that way to force you upgrading into a paid version where there are no ads/toolbars.
  19. Argh I didn't pay attention , Why are you still using Windows XP? Microsoft has dropped Windows XP support and doesn't release any updates for it.
  20. Yeah I understand you , just wanted to make it clear for you that everywhere you visit web admins can see your location, everything that uses internet and makes you connect to it through the internet will be able to see your IP and knowing your IP is also knowing your location.
  21. @MrWhispers, Are you browsing the internet using Steam?
  22. @dumbenis, Don't exclude uTorrent as it's not recommended because sometimes you might get malicious files through a torrent I don't know what is causing the problems you had , never had any problem with Torrents and ESET , but I do use a different torrent software , I do use Deluge(open-source, without ads and stuff that uTorrents add unless you bought it) and use magnet-urls for downloading the torrent or just download the torrent and run it in Deluge without any trouble Can you post a screenshot of the detection from ESET? EDIT : If you download Ubuntu torrent for a test, will it still get detected? - hxxp://releases.ubuntu.com/18.10/ubuntu-18.10-desktop-amd64.iso.torrent
  23. More changes/fixes should come in the next versions soon, but GUI changes I don't know about that.
  24. @alexander14, As posted by Marcos , ESET doesn't have any plans for a free-product , in another words it might be wasting your time creating and editing the images for that request because as far as I think they will not do it because they don't have this as planned feature , maybe if there are a lot of users who are requesting this , it might do something Free AV is good for bringing people to the brand and then tempting the user to upgrade to a paid version If you still insist that you want a free AV , I suggest you to try Kaspersky Free, but if you have some spare hryvnia to spend , then go for ESET Internet Security
