  1. I can't update also, 08/04/20 11:06:25 ESET Daemon Error updating Antivirus modules: An error occurred while downloading update files. But this is the linux version , it seems that it cannot reach the servers
  2. There shouldn't be any problems with newer versions , it should bring you new features and bug fixes and more protection layers.
  3. You need to configure it manually , which Ubuntu and I think so Debian have manuals for this in AppArmor , but for me I haven't applied it , I prefer AppArmor to keep it's lock , while ESET stays and scans whatever that it can touch , but the rest to be locked by AppArmor.
  4. I believe it would be easier to use an extension instead of a service in your PC to filter out the ads. Like uBlock Origin for example , but it depends on your usage I don't know.
  5. If they are installed in Program Files , you can make a policy for all endpoints to block Anydesk/Teamviewer EXE in the firewall. If they have different locations on each endpoint, Block like this : *.net.anydesk.com TCP-Ports 80, 443 and 6568 ----- TeamViewer *teamviewer.com -------- You can also make web filter to block access to them or DNS access Just be careful not to block access to 80 443 for everything because that will get the endpoints with no internet , not HTTP and not HTTPS
  6. Could be ESET Augur ? , but Augur detection should come with Augur name before the detection , maybe they have corrected the FP
  7. Is it better to buy from where ESET directs you to.
  8. If I am not mistaken , you need to change the userabc to %UserProfile% and if you have different drives you can change it to %systemdrive% , If I am talking about something else , please correct me You can do that by policy to all endpoints.
  9. Hahahaha , ESET is smart , knows that EA Games are PUA
  10. It sounds to me some kind of a bug that when EFS is trying to read what you trying to get from the Share , it's slowing down the operation an ESET staff should be able to help you , maybe if you reply to the same support email , that might bump the ticket to the local support again. If you can get to the Phone Support it's faster than the email one and the support guy cannot run away from you that way
  11. Your website is having a javascript src = to some malicious website , which is why it's getting blocked , removing that reference to that malicious java , and you should try to secure or know how it was possible to hijack the page and redirect to a malicious page as Marcos said.
  12. A deep scan of your PC and then a scan from HitmanPro after them I believe you can feel safe.
  13. It could be some kind of bug , if you need to keep Avast as the real time AV for your computer , then to make sure run a deep full scan of your computer and check the results , after that run HitmanPro scan.
  14. Unfortunately not , attachements are only available to ESET Staff/Employees. You can upload them to two other websites to make sure more https://www.hybrid-analysis.com/ https://app.any.run/
  15. Online scanner can be obtained here https://www.eset.com/int/home/online-scanner/ Much safer way than to get it from other unknown sources , it could have something change or tampered or malware infused. If you are feeling paranoid , you can install ESET internet security and run a deep scan so it could scan your computer. I don't like Avast as a personal choice for AV , I would change to ESET and for roguekiller I have never heard of this software also , I would swap it with HitmanPro. this exe you have uploaded to VT has a different name than the original exe that is listed in ESET website , I won't take it , go to the original source always. I have uploaded ESET Online Scanner to VT https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/6f245d40f1cbbc1786ca5884fdf5a39782bfb39f56121fe76494dfab1f6c3b1c/detection I get the same detection that you got with that other exe , I believe it's a false positive.
  16. That is very true , I still see places that run Windows XP , and Windows 7 and I believe it's easy to exploit them using metasploit.
  17. This rule that troubleshoot wizard has created , you can edit and remove the IP Address from there that will make it open from all areas to your FTP port ( I can't know what is the port ) , or for more secure access , only allow the IP addresses that should be allowed and the rest to be blocked , so you don't have some bots trying to brute-force you.
  18. Many system administrators are afraid of updates as they run customized code or some kind of software that might break with updates , or some servers have sleeping admins , or they might be lazy or have their own reasons that I don't know them , but I recommend against delaying updates This is why I like Linux , updates are sent in short time and not huge sizes , which won't take much time to update and restart , etc. security fixes are brought really fast and in small sizes , you don't need 2 hours of preparing to download the update.
  19. I am not talking about IT Personnel , for sure they should be kicked if that is the perspective , I am talking about normal home users that are not Gamers(because gamers will be forced to upgrade because of DirectX) , they won't bother to look for updates or upgrades , because all they use their computer is for that normal work/study or simple game or film.
  20. This is right , also you can limit the speed while Chrome/Firefox doesn't let you do this
  21. Download managers were useful back in the XP days when everyone had a bad internet that could get his/her download interrupted suddenly so a manager can keep it alive somehow , but I still don't like/trust these softwares especially there are no reason for them (for my usage)
  22. You can find it in the Settings of Deluge --- It's forbidden to discuss torrent websites here , nobody can give you recommendation about torrent websites in this forum , probably your post will be hidden also , you can save yourself the warning and hide it
  23. You were linked a download manager and not a torrent client Use Deluge/Qbittorrent as torrent client , and ditch download managers they are useless most of the times and can be adware more than a download manager.
  24. It's not safe to stay with Windows 7 even if you have an Internet Security product running as protection , because as Marcos said , by the time more vulnerabilities will be discovered and used against this operating system and Microsoft won't release anything for it because they have stopped the support , unless you pay for business support. I believe it's better for you to upgrade to Windows 10. , Or switch to Linux atleast you can still get updates and you can get your Ubuntu to look a bit like Windows 7. Even if you feel that your PC won't be able to run W10(It will be able) or that it's invading your privacy , etc whatever the reason is , it's safer and more stable to stay with a system that can get updated.
  25. I doubt that support for Linux will be dropped , as for endpoint v7 has been released , and a desktop version of v7 should be coming soon but I don't know exactly when
