  1. Can you please try to remove this software from your PC : If you see some suspicious applications in Startup category (Or if you press Logon at top) , also try to unselect it , and remove it from windows through add or remove ---- In ESET Settings , Set it to detect Possibly Unwanted Programs & Unsafe Programs , and scan again and see if it will detect threats , probably these blocks are coming from one of these dodgy softwares , IDMan or Free Download Manager Here is an example of your problem : https://any.run/report/8d33d5c74a877dc2030ec36b79db8630e20dc476e3374d24b65dee6222d7d498/934cb24f-6b03-4d87-9f32-a038caa1790b Do you have this here ? : C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\update-win.js
  2. Download https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns And run it as Administrator and see if there are suspicious startup programs/scripts , then you can see it's location , and see for yourself if it's malicious or not , upload it to VT Malicious reg mostly can be found here : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
  3. I believe if you would format your disks , and completely reinstall Windows then you will be fine , but as you describe I believe you have a hardware error more than a virus , you could try to boot up a linux live environment and see if your computer acts up with it or not.
  4. You could try Linux Live session which you can do changes from there to Windows , but I doubt removing specific files will render the AV unusable , or could be also the Windows. I have never done such thing.
  5. If it didn't work then you should give that file Execute permission , after that you will be able to run it.
  6. Did you come from 18.04 ? , have you made an upgrade for the system or it's a clean install?
  7. It seems weird , I am on 18.04 it's working fine for me , I honestly don't have a way to help you I am sorry. Probably you need some assistance from an ESET Staff.
  8. I don't believe so , are you uninstalling through some command or through ESET uninstall wizard? It's probably ESET's fault here , 20.04 uses a different kernel than 18.04 so almost everything is new/updated , and I don't know about the current status of support with v4 which is a legacy product
  9. You can't find the icon in icons indicator applet ? Why have you uninstalled a trial version and installed a licensed version , still they are the same app , if you had a trial version working then you only need to change the license information so it could use your license through the same program without uninstalling/reinstalling.
  10. Make multiple rules with seperate port each for the same application so you will have them multiple seperating ports by comma should work as far as I know. Will that work?
  11. Block gpupdate and gpupdatem services in your firewall , but this is something that isn't recommended as you will miss out lot of security updates by the time
  12. All are the same for me , but the differences is the hardware and the software installed on it , but for a secure WIFI you probably need it to be WPA2 with some good encryption algorithm or if your devices support WPA3 then to be WPA3 You can have some IPS/IDS systems in your network so it could detect some kind of not good traffic coming from some kind of devices for extra security , and for devices that are connected to wifi for transactions , you can hide their wifi name and make a good password so it could be protected well against any kind of attacks or brute-forcing the password to get entry.
  13. For me that's excellent for most of them .. so it depends only on your taste and opinion and experience with the software itself , I tend to like ESET more because it's been several years with it and I just don't want to move on to another product , even though I would like to try Kaspersky for a bit , but I still stay with ESET due to several years of using it and it's light.
  14. Go ask in Kaspersky forum and then you will have the fantastic confusion Try them both as trial and then decide for yourself which one acted better for the 30 days , or you felt better with.
  15. It got stuck once for me , and took a while to notice that I left from one PC and trying to come from another It happened with v4 Linux , but these days it didn't happen to me again.
  16. Sometimes it used to happen to me that ESET servers will take a bit of time to notice that you have uninstalled and re-installed on somewhere else , when you get to use your license you will get that it's not possible , give it some time and use the license again it will work (once the servers refresh/update).
  17. Hello , I've downloaded a zip file to my internal storage , so I want to move it to the sdcard (external storage) , I press to move and then the status stays at 0% and then I get it has failed , and I go to see the sdcard , I can see the file size of 500MB/800MB moved So I thought the card is failing or I need to do something , I formatted the card and tried to move again and then it worked , so I didn't know what was it. I tried to do it again yesterday and then , I had the same problem , I formatted the card again , and tried to move the files , and no it didn't work , so I tried to disable real-time scanning , and then I was able to move the ZIP file without any trouble Any idea?
  18. On Windows 10, Automatic Maintenance is a feature that helps to keep your computer healthy and optimized by combining and running all maintenance tasks without impacting performance or energy efficiency. Usually, the automated system optimization happens once a day when you're not actively using your device. It is the same thing that is being done by these software. You are welcome , you can just allow the application to run by excluding it from detection.
  19. Did that appear after installing / upgrading ESET? Did you do anything to the machine when these errors showed up ? like maybe Windows Update?
  20. Windows 10 can now do all of the jobs these softwares used to do when we were using XP or Vista times , like to find drivers , clean registry or whatever they do , while in the same time Microsoft recommends to never clean registry or touch it , well you can make your crazy changes while having no problems if you know what you are doing , but I believe they know their system very well Same as drivers , it's better to take them from the manufacturer website or from Windows Update.
  21. Have you received a username & password after applying the trial form?
