  1. What exact build of v6 do you have installed? You mentioned that you have WIn7 and Win8 installed on the same pc. Do you mean you installed them on virtual machines or you replaced Windows 7 with Windows 8 or vice-versa?
  2. What operating system do you use? Do you get this message even if you run a scan as an administrator?
  3. Virus signature database 8481 is already on the update servers. 8480 was skipped, all signatures from this version are included in 8481.
  4. If ekrn is crashing, enable generation of complete application dumps in the ESS advanced setup (Tools -> Diagnostics). When ekrn crashes, upload the dump to a safe location and PM me the download link. The path to the dump file is shown in the previously mentioned setup pane.
  5. Please carry on as advised above. With Windows 7, you can simply right-click egui.exe in the Task manager and select Create dump file.
  6. I can't reproduce this. Please create a Wireshark log while reproducing the issue, upload it to a safe location and PM me the download link. I'm interested in seeing the response received from ESET's DNS servers when attempting to access those websites.
  7. The currently available version on update servers is 8479. As soon as a newer version is available, users will download it.
  8. This should be solved by adding the IP address to the list of addresses excluded from active protection in the zone setup.
  9. Exactly, ESET doesn't flag anything from Uniblue as a threat.
  10. Please upload one of the dumps in the Diagnostics folder to a safe location (access to ESET's ftp server can be provided, if needed) and PM me the download link. Until the cause of the crashes is solved, uninstall v7.
  11. Hello, if EAV was installed with Self-defense enabled, the only way to accomplish it is by pushing a new installation package with a correct ERAS configuration on the clients. How many workstations are there?
  12. Hello, the icon is hard coded and cannot be customized.
  13. If you look into Scheduler, what task are currently enabled? I assume you didn't schedule your own tasks and use only the default ones, did you?
  14. If you are able to reproduce the crash, carry on as follows: configure Windows to create kernel memory dumps reproduce the crash compress the memory dump and upload it to a safe location (if necessary, I can provide you with access to ESET's ftp server) PM me the download link
  15. Please create a SysInspector log and submit it to ESET along with a link to this thread as per the instructions here.
  16. Check the system event log for errors related to starting egui.exe.
  17. This was already added as a wish for improvement in future versions.
  18. If a 3rd party application uses the Trusted Root Certification Authorities certificate store, then it will work. Otherwise import of the root certificate must be supported specifically for the application. Firefox and Thunderbid use their own TRCA certificate store but are supported, hence SSL scanning works.
  19. Please open the main setup (F5), navigate to Tools -> Diagnostics and enable creation of complete application memory dump (note the path where it will be created). When ekrn crashes, compress the dump, upload it to a safe location and PM me the download link.
  20. If you open the Task manager, do you see egui.exe running? Isn't it that just the tray icon is not showing?
  21. Although not a nice solution, you can work around it by setting the time interval 44640 minutes (60x24x31) between task execution.
  22. Samples[at]eset.com is the only communication channel for disputing detections. According to the information from the virus lab, they responded and the receipt of the reply was confirmed on Whitesmoke's end. Any attempt to dispute detections regardless of the vendor will be closed here and the user will be advised to email samples[at]eset.com as explained above.
  23. The reason why you weren't prompted for an action is mentioned in your post. If the connection is terminated, you'll see the following record in the Detected threats log: 19. 6. 2013 7:16:21 HTTP filter file hxxp://www.eicar.org/download/eicar.com Eicar test file connection terminated - quarantined %USER% Threat was detected upon access to web by the application: I'd like to emphasize that changing the default cleaning mode is not recommended. Switching it to manual cleaning may render your computer unusable if infected with ransomware for instance and you'll need to resort to using rescue cd to clean it out.
  24. Does disabling real-time protection (just for a test) make a difference?
  25. Please carry on as follows: - download Procdump - when you notice that ekrn consumes a lot of RAM (e.g. > 150 kB), create a complete application memory dump by running "procdump -ma ekrn" - compress the dump, upload it to a safe location (we can provide you with access to ESET's ftp server) and pm me the download link
