RandomJoe 0
I keep getting the popup notification on the bottom right periodically at random saying that both ESET Firewall and Windows Firewall are off, but every time I go to security center it says ESET Firewall is on. Obviously Windows Firewall is off due to using ESET instead but I don't know why the notification center is saying they are both off. I'm using Windows 10 Pro Anniversary. I know it's most likely a Windows bug but wanted to know why it might be doing this.
reisender1967 12
Hi, I have the same problem. It has been posted several times here in the forum, but it seems the developers are not interested Although it is only a small problem, but still annoying. Greetings Christian
Quant 2
Hi, same problem. After(1-2 minutes after Eset splash screen) Anniversary update i've started to receive notification: "Windows firewall and Eset Personal firewall are both turned off. Tap or click to see....". ~30 seconds later notification disappears. Before Anniversary update everything was fine. Although it is only a small problem, but still annoying. And i don't think this is a small problem.
ESET Staff Gonzalo Alvarez 66 Posted September 24, 2016 ESET Staff Share Posted September 24, 2016 Hi @RandomJoe and @reisender1967, I never see that problem before... so may I ask if uninstalling ESET and reinstall makes any difference? do you test reseting the windows firewall or the security center? ESET Staff Gonzalo Alvarez 66 Posted September 26, 2016 ESET Staff Share Posted September 26, 2016 Hi @Quant, Do you contact ESET Support in your country and gather some logs?
Quant 2
Hi @Quant, Do you contact ESET Support in your country and gather some logs? Yes i did, so far(2-3 days) no solution. I don't mind waiting, but i have work to do and i don't want to spent time on resolving this problem in the middle of it.
ESET Staff Gonzalo Alvarez 66 Posted September 26, 2016 ESET Staff Share Posted September 26, 2016 Hi @Quant, Do you try to change to pre-release updates? If you are using v9.0.402, do you try a downgrade to v9.0.38x ?
Administrators Marcos 5,273 Posted September 26, 2016 Administrators Share Posted September 26, 2016 To enforce registration to Windows Security Center, you can run the following command as an admininistrator from the ESET install folder provided that you have v9.0.402 installed: ecmd.exe /registerav
Quant 2
The problem persists on 9.0.402 and 9.0.38x. I didn't try pre-release updates and i will not. Sorry guys, I don't want experimenting, i want solution.
Administrators Marcos 5,273 Posted September 26, 2016 Administrators Share Posted September 26, 2016 Windows Security Center is a Windows feature. ESET registers to WSC during installation and upgrade. Let us know if manually enforcing registration to WSC makes a difference.
