  1. Sorry I missed that. Too early AM and sort of rushing since replacement laptop on the way and want to get certain programs on a flash stick before it arrives. Thanks
  2. I just decided to read this thread. From old reports, if you upgraded from 8.0 to 8.1 via "the store", it breaks any of the restore features. I just tried it on this laptop and got a "file missing" error which, I believe, was the reported failure. This info came out days after the 8.1 update.
  3. Was looking for the full installer and not the stub. Getting new laptop and want to have AV installed before I go live.
  4. Then I would not be concerned with firewall settings. I always block Remote Regisry and Remote "Anything Else" to be on the safe side. If you go to the GRC site and ran all ports test, you would see what ports have nothing running on your computer, they are stealth or closed. The router blocked everything not used
  5. That is why I always use a router and tell family/friends to use one. It blocks many things that should be blocked. Most ISP's use a modem/router these days. Now if people would be as smart !!
  6. We go through this with every new version of Windows. Newsgroups have so many questions who nobody has the correct answer. Happy to see ESET does have a beta out, but questions about it shoud be in a BETA forum.
  7. Open Candy is what I ment, couldn't remember the name. I don't know if it was in their installer for any other of their programs, but it was in the installer for Partition Manage Free the last two times I upgraded. I am also very sure there was no opt-out. That and CCleaner are the only programs I use all the time that come with crapware.
  8. Just for your information and not saying anything about Backup, but Partition Manager Free comes with Eye Candy for the last two or thre versions. Been some time since I last updated it, I THINK IT WAS EYE CANDY.
  9. You can only run one antivirus real time protection. If another will even install, it can only be run on demand . Some antivirus programs may not be able to not be run all the time. Many users run Malwarebytes along with an antivirus.
  10. You should only be running 10 on another drive or virtual machine where you can test programs and not be complaining about problems. 10 is a beta. You just have to wait until programs "catch up" to 10 at their own pace. Complain about 10 and nothing else.
  11. Most of the times I download CCleaner on one puter, put it on a usb stick for the other 4 I have. Using the same installer, I will see the Chrome check box on one or two installs and not the others. Go figure that one out !! No security program I have has ever had an alert for the PUP. I consider Chrome a PUP lol
  12. I set up a schedule for smart scan which should cover everything I want.
  13. Thanks. I came over from Outpost Security Suite for one year because of a problem. I had that set up for a scan after a database update. I see this has a startup scan and was wondering if that is ok for everyday use. I will be going back to OSS after the year is up since I has a lifetime license.
  14. I am new to ESS and wonder if the default scans are enough protection or should I add another scan schedule. Thank you
  15. I have a log from a scan, but I have to filter it to see anything. I want to view the whole log. Also for any log.
