  1. Is taskhostw.exe a virus? No, it is not. The true taskhostw.exe file is a safe Microsoft Windows system process, called "Host Process for Windows Tasks". However, writers of malware programs, such as viruses, worms, and Trojans deliberately give their processes the same file name to escape detection. Viruses with the same file name are such as Trojan.Gen (detected by Symantec), and UDS:DangerousObject.Multi.Generic (detected by Kaspersky). Give your PC a scan incase to make sure that this is no virus/trojan trying to get access
  2. But recently Chrome has decided that it won't allow anything to inject/scan their browser even AVs

  4. As far as I know the troubles you had because Chrome is isolating itself and you isolated Chrome in another Sandbox , so what happened that you have isolated Chrome , Chrome is isolating itself because that's what Google did in their recent update , HIPS is trying to do something with Chrome , and it's failing or it's not working at some point , Chrome is crashing. You can use uBlock and HttpsEverywhere as add-ons with Firefox , they are recommended.
  5. Ditch Windows XP , It's not really secure but it's stable I know , but it's an old operating system and after the WannaCrypt attack it's not really secure for a system that runs something important or sensitive.
  6. Question is how your neighbor connects to you? , so as you have said he has set up a MITM monitoring your traffic and getting everything going to him in terms of traffic , so he needs to be connected through something like a cable or wireless , let's say he is connected using wireless , I think you need to disable wireless for now till you get rid of him outside and secure your Router login , maybe reset it and update the firmware of the router , and get a good password for your wireless and change the admin username and password of the router login page As in terms of connecting using a cable how in the hell he got access to your LAN? Here you can read more about MITM : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Man-in-the-middle_attack
  7. Switch to Firefox for a moment and run it as Sandboxed , does the HIPS make trouble with it? After the recent Chrome update , people are experiencing troubles with it.
  8. New Chrome is already running in Sandbox by itself , Chrome is isolating itself from the system as far as I know , it might be that the reason of it crashing.
  9. Are you sure that is the correct IP that you should connect to ?
  10. An older topic with the same problem as you , try Marcos' steps if none of what we told you worked https://forum.eset.com/topic/13599-no-internet-access/ It's just uninstall (don't keep any settings) and re-install.
  11. Right click the EIS icon in the toolbar , is it blocking the internet connection? Disabling the firewall makes your internet run without a problem?
  12. If you exclude it , ESET will not be able to protect your Outlook as far as I know , it should be the same as like disabling mail scanning because you only use Outlook for your email so excluding it is almost the same as disabling it I will tag @Marcos maybe he could provide you more help than me and the support did provide.
  13. That's weird , Did you try to contact the local ESET support through ESET Endpoint?
  14. Do you get an error message while trying to run the ESET plugin in Outlook?
  15. That hang might be because of ESET trying to scan the document that you have opened and/or the email, could you please specify how much time is the hang when you try to open? And your HDD is fast or is it slow in general?
  16. Before the installation it didn't hangup? , like when you try to disable the Endpoint does it help with Office?
  17. Anytime when you have 2 AVs that do scan as real-time then they will cause a conflict or cause problems, you could have a scanner that doesn't scan at real-time to be a backup for your real time anti virus , but both of them running as realtime will just make conflicts and problems. I am glad that you figured it out
  18. Try to load this into a USB and then do a scan for the infected PCs : https://www.eset.com/int/support/sysrescue/ Remember to unplug the infected PCs from the network so the virus cannot spread itself through the network, for more information about Windows recovery you can check here : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12415/windows-10-recovery-options If you could ask the people who work on these PCs what really has happened when the PC got infected , which website did they access or what file they have opened might help you also knowing what really has happened or from where did it come.
  19. If it's newly installed Windows , can you double check the time and date in the Windows if they are set correct? , if not then that would be the reason for every untrusted certificate because there is no sync between the time.
  20. I am going to upgrade at the end of the trial license , but I just wanted to try it for Linux before, but I wish there was an IDS protection with it. Thank you.
  21. I have tried to Google for the default user and password but nothing could be found about this , there is something wrong I think Maybe the SysRescue is corrupted on the USB? did you try to re-download and re-install it? There is no website even on this forum has listed something like user and password for the SysRescue , the only thing about username and password for the SysRescue is about using a username and password for the update channel which you don't need because SysRescue is a free software. I will try to see why the GUI is freezing.
