Virus signature database out of date but won't update

Hi, I'm getting a red message on my home screen that the virus signature database is out of date, but when I click 'update' I get a message that it is up to date. I'm running version 9.0.386.0 on Windows 7, and there's no version update offered either. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Is there a way to go back to v8? I never had any issues.

Cheers,

Same problem here with 9.0.386.0.

Help/about page shows that the most recent signatures are installed, but Update page shows an old 'last successful update' date and a warning about being out of date.

Have tried a fresh install after using ESET Uninstaller to clean, but problem returned after a week or so.

Manifesting under Win7x64 and Win10x64 on various PCs.  PCs still on v* not experiencing any problem.

Pretty disappointed with v9 so far.

Pretty disappointed with v9 so far.

This is just a visual issue and full protection is ensured despite an older time of the last successful update being displayed. This issue should be fixed automatically by a program update during the next few days.

If you've experience other issues with v9, let us know.

Program update to version 9.0.402 is now available. If your v9 has not updated automatically yet and you don't want to wait for a program update to be performed automatically, click Check in the Update panel -> Program update and then click Install. The new version addresses both the issue with registration to Windows Security Center as well as the issue with incorrect information about the last successful update.

Program update to version 9.0.402 is now available.

Is this only for English version?

I have ESS German version 9.0.386.1 and no update is offered when I click "program update".

I am running 9.0.386.0. I just clicked on update and it said that 9.0.402 is now available. I clicked on update and Eset downloaded something. My version number then stayed at 9.0.386.0 and now update says that I have the most current version. My definition updates have not updated since 8/12/16. I just signed up for a year of Eset. I am now thinking that this was a mistake. It seems every time there is an update there is something else broken. Please fix this problem as I do not want to be an Eset beta tester for the next year.

Edit:

After the 3rd reboot of my computer Eset now shows that I am running the most recent version. The definition updates also show current. If anyone else experiences this problem try rebooting several times. We shouldn't have to do this but hey it worked.

Do you have pre-release updates enabled?

What operating system do you use? Unlike newer Windows, on Windows XP 2 restarts are needed after upgrade to v9.0.402.

In the advanced setup, navigate to Tools -> Diagnostics and enable advanced update engine logging and manually run update. Finally collect logs with ELC and provide me with the generated zip file (upload it to a safe location and pm me a download link if too big to attach).

I had a similar problem but it was not just "visual".

Warning boxes popping up from Eset, and exclamation point on Eset icon in the System Tray.
Then I notice my System time was almost 3 months behind!  Fixed the Time, then rebooted, but that did not change the incorrect Eset update status.
Not an Eset expert, but this worked for me.

Right-click Eset icon in System Tray and select Advanced Setup, choose Updates on the left panel, then Rollback on the right. From the Rollback drop-down select "Until Revoked".

Reboot, then go into Advanced Setup/Updates again. Under Rollback menu list, where it used to say "Rollback" it now says "Allow Updates"

Chose Allow Updates and then I rebooted again, then went to Updates from the basic Eset page and it downloaded about ten updates and it was all fixed.
No more pop-ups warning me and exclamation point gone from Eset icon!

Sam
