ESET Remote Admin Consol variables issue

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I am having an issue with email notifications on my ESET Remote Administrator Console (ver. 5.0.122). When I try and test a rule, instead of getting a list of clients and a server name, I receive %variable% not populated with values. Here's an example email:
subject: %PRIMARY_SERVER_NAME%: %RULE_NAME%
Body: Primary clients with protection status warning.
Server: %PRIMARY_SERVER_NAME%
Client list: %CLIENT_LIST%

I have two ESET servers in my company and one of them is working OK, the other one is giving these issues. Both are at the same version. I tried to restart the ESET service, but it did not help.

Appreciate your help.

Jakub

Is there a resolution for this issue.  I am having the same problem.  Email notifications work great, but all variables in the emails show up as %variable% instead of the variable value.

Rule Name:    %RULE_NAME%

Description:    %RULE_DESCRIPTION%

Priority:           %PRIORITY%

Regards,

Kevin

Hi Chad,

All notifications with variables are not working correctly.  For example, if I select the 'Tools' menu, then select 'Notification Manager', then select the notification rule 'Critical Virus Detection Received' and click the 'Test It' button, I get the following email:

-----Original Message-----

From: MNM_ESET@xxxxxxxx

Sent: Tuesday, May 27, 2014 9:28 AM

To: xxxxxxxxx

Subject: %PRIMARY_SERVER_NAME%: %RULE_NAME% %CLIENT_LIST%

Primary clients with protection status warning.

Server: %PRIMARY_SERVER_NAME%

Client list: %CLIENT_LIST%

Last Event Time: %TRIGGERED%

%LOG_TEXT_TRUNCATED%

%PARAMETERS%

%TimeStamp% – date and time of the event Computer Name: %ComputerName%

Module: %Scanner%

Infected Objects: %InfectedObject%

Generating Module: %ProgramName%

Virus Name: %VirusName%

Non-virus event Description: %ErrorDescription%

The same thing occurs for every notification rule, even if I create new rules.  Of course the variables are different, but none of the variables seem to work.

In this particular test, here are the responses you requested:

  • Trigger type - Received Log Event
  • Activation after - ?? I do not see this field
  • Client filter - From Primary Server
  • Parameters - Threat Log; Level 1 - Critical Warnings

Additional Information:

  • Priority - P1
  • Throttle Interval - Not Used
  • Action - Email, Logging (level 1)
  • Message

Primary clients with protection status warning.

Server: %PRIMARY_SERVER_NAME%

Client list: %CLIENT_LIST%

Last Event Time: %TRIGGERED%

%LOG_TEXT_TRUNCATED%

%PARAMETERS%

%TimeStamp% – date and time of the event

Computer Name: %ComputerName%

Module: %Scanner%

Infected Objects: %InfectedObject%

Generating Module: %ProgramName%

Virus Name: %VirusName%

Non-virus event Description: %ErrorDescription%

Kevin
