negord 0
Hello, I have a sorta weird question. I want to block a website, but allow a specific application to still access it. Is that possible?
Administrators Marcos 5,242 Posted September 5, 2019 Administrators Share Posted September 5, 2019 You can't do it per domain, however, you can use firewall rules to allow access to the IP address that the domain resolves to for a particular application and block access for the others. negord 0
@Marcos If it's a rule with no application assigned it overrides any other rules I set for a specific application. Is that normal?
Administrators Marcos 5,242 Posted September 5, 2019 Administrators Share Posted September 5, 2019 Rules are evaluated in the order they appear in the list. If you put a permissive rule above a blocking rule, the permissive rule will take precedence over the blocking one.
negord 0
@Marcos The blocking rule seems to override the permissive rule even though the blocking rule is above. Edited September 5, 2019 by negord
Administrators Marcos 5,242 Posted September 5, 2019 Administrators Share Posted September 5, 2019 The higher a rule appears in the list, the higher priority the rule has over other rules. You must move the permissive rule above the blocking rule, not vice-versa.
