why am i suddenly getting this a lot when i'm browsing - sometimes multiple times when i click around links on a site? how do i turn it off, it's extremely annoying?

Click on "Computer Scan" in the Eset GUI. Then click on "Dismiss" for any scan shown there. This has eliminated the issue for some afflicted by this problem. 

I would also recommend you make a selection as to whether or not you want to participate in the "Customer Experience Improvement Program." This will eliminated that window appearing in the GUI.

I was finally able to duplicate this behavior.

I had performed a previous context scan. I did not dismiss the scan. Slightly later I opened the browser, IE11, and was active within the browser. Eset popup alert occurred informing of a signature update. Simultaneous to the Eset popup alert, the Eset GUI opened by itself.
