  1. Additionally to Marcos post, here some more information. Like you describe it looks like you have a ransomware. This is basically a software which encrypts your files, so you cannot access them anymore and in nearly every case it says that you're files would be decrypted if you pay money. But, don't pay any money! You have no guarantee that your files are accessible after this! More information about such ransomware you can find here: Wikipedia article about ransomware How to protect against ransomware More about ransomware on WeLiveSecurity You should run an in-depth scan and search on ESET.com for a decrypter. (it depends on what ransomware you had on your computer) If you cannot access your computer anymore or if you had problems removing the threat use ESET SysRescue Live. Please keep us up-to-date and post your results in this topic.
  2. Also see this kb article. There it is described how large the VSD updates normally are. How large are update files?
  3. Try to switch your firewall mode to learning mode, update the time manually and then switch it back to the mode you had before. So the firewall should learn to allow this connection. Additionally you should now that Windows 7 synchronizes the time only once a week. But with a small "registry trick" you can change this interval.
  4. It looks normal, but could you provide the full scan log of only one scan? If there are sensitive data in the log (as your name or anything else) then make sure you blacken them before, because this forum is publicly visible.
  5. So this issue is about 4 years old?!
  6. Well... I think I also had something like this. In my case it is mostly exactly before or after (I think it was after because before doesn't makes such sense) an application changed to full screen mode. And because I have automatic switch to gamer mode enabled, the gamer mode will be enabled in this case. So after ending the game (or any other full-screen-application) this issue appears. It is because in gamer mode the status is "requires attention". This is by design, because a long activated gamer mode can really not such good. But BTT... This state is "requires attention". But because at the same time the gamer mode is active the notification won't displayed (also by design). As far no problem. But then the full-screen-application closes... The Gamer Mode is now deactivated. And for some reasons the "risk state" is not changed immediately (or at least not at the same time like the gamer mode switches off) - sometimes - and so this notification will be displayed (and the tray icon is orange). But about 1 second later or so the state changes and all is ok again. This of course also happens when the user opens the GUI to check this message and so he'll see "all is okay". So this can be the issue and I also saw it sometimes occurring at my ESS. And I also found a way where it is possible to reproduce it sometimes: Quickly activate and deactivate the full screen mode of your browser (mostly with the key F11) and if you tried it some times you will hopefully see what I mean. Tested with ESS 7.0.317.
  7. OK, but this still doesn't explain what ghosts siljaline (dis)likes?!
  8. And BTW: I of course suggest the same for the tray menu of NOD32 like I already suggested in the tray menu poll for ESS.
  9. Ehm... What? I don't want ghosts on my desktop.... No seriously I don't know what you mean. Also your screenshot don't make me smarter... And it seems that you are using a quite old version of ESET NOD32, so I would suggest you to upgrade to the latest version.
  10. Phew! And it is also not the end of the world.
  11. Or (like I always add), do it from your ESET product: No I think this is not the only place. You can also do this here: Please note that this screenshot is from ESS, but in NOD32 it should be at a similar place.
  12. Do you mean whether the scan also scans running processes? If you want to ask this then I think it doesn't do this exactly. But it scans (depending on what scan depth you selected) all apk files and there must be all of the running apks included. Or what else do you mean?
  13. Hello? Nobody who wants to leave a comment? Do you like it? Do you already knew it? Do you use it or do you use another (secure) alternative?
  14. Normally smart scan runs a little bit faster, because it ignores already scanned files. But from some hours to some minutes is strange. Especially because you said you also started a deep scan. Please also check that you didn't modified the scan profiles.
  15. Yes there is. (like SweX posted) But you can also use an ESET software and activate 30 days trail for free. And you can even use ESET SysRescue Live (It's also free).
  16. This forum has to "upload types". You can either use the advanced mode (working with Adobe Flash Player) or the simple mode (without Flash). You can switch them below the upload button. And this can also be a problem with Ghostery. I would suggest to check out if this works correctly with ESS/NOD32 v7. Or does this has nothing to do with ESET?
  17. Hello @Daigokaujin, great to have another experienced ESET user here. Have fun browsing through the forum and (of course)... Enjoy safer technology!
  18. Yes, and about EMS for Android there is something special: You have a "basic set" of features which are free for all time (e.g. Antivirus and basic Anti-Theft-Features per SMS) And you can activate a trail version. This is the same as for the desktop versions, so you have all features free for 30 days. After the 30 days you won't have the premium features anymore, but you will be still able to use the free features. And of course you can buy a full version and get the premium features. BTW you can use the EMS license on up to 5 devices with the same (Google/Amazon) account. (see answer to question 8 in the FAQ)
  19. Hello to @all See this alert in the knowledgebase: Regular updates may take longer than normal - large update size is due to significant product upgrades
  20. Here is how to create a screenshot: hxxp://wikihow.com/Take-a-Screenshot-in-Microsoft-Windows Or there hxxp://kb.eset.com/esetkb/index?page=content&id=SOLN2727 And the password protection only protects the settings with a password (not the scans).
  21. Thanks. (Do I get a kudo for this? )
  22. If you want to start a scan automatically when a device (or any other removable drive) is connected to a desktop ESET software you can do this there: But - you posted this in the ESET Mobile Security part (yes @foneil, I also forgot this at the first view) so we have to see it in a completely different view. @ggen After long thinking I think know what you mean. Can you please confirm my assumption?: You selected "Scan at date/time automatic?" And at this time your device is off and so the scan can't run. And now you want that the scan starts if you shut your device on. If so then this is a good suggestion. See also: My huge ESET Mobile Security Feedback
  23. @Nazze Have you PMed the uncensored version of the screenshot and would you please so kind and post the rest of the mail (censored) in this topic? @Mods Have you found a reason for this now?
