Interesting as I think my original Premium signup included up to 5 devices with one low fee.

Ideally, if you continue to renew via Google Play then it should apply up to the 5 devices which use the same Google Play Store Account.

If you renew on the one device and the changes do not reflect on the other devices, I needed to uninstall Mobile Security and reinstall - once you reselect your Google Account upon first launch, it will automatically activate with the most up-to-date license information.

  2. When creating the SMS password, if you tick 'Use my Security password in SMS text commands (not recommended)', a dialogue box appears with an explanation. It seems that this is standard behaviour with Android and is why a custom password is recommended. It seems that text commands will be visible on the target device.

This would be why using the Web Portal (my.eset.com) as a primary method for Anti-Theft would be recommended, and if that doesn't work, resorting to using SMS commands instead.

I bought my licence directly from Eset.com last year and have been using it ever since.

In that case I would contact ESET Support directly and ask why your license isn't able to be added to the License Manager. If you purchased from the US or Canada, there is a live chat option. Otherwise, you may be able to find a phone number depending on the country you've purchased from on the ESET website. The last resort is using the contact form to receive support via email.

Alternatively, someone from ESET may be able to help you out on here shortly. (re: @Marcos)

The Report option is correct, I think. I can't speak for everyone, but I don't view those as overtly "negative", others use that to comment on a post or thread and the Reports list for Mods is a good place to not lose track of these. As long as you leave a comment regarding why you flagged the thread or post, it should be fine.

Thanks foneil, I'll use that option from now on.

Often, the Mac offerings lag way behind those on the Windows side, even though a number of features can be ported over...ex. camera protection.

You aren't wrong. Most, if not all competitors have now been able to provide equivalent or up-to-par features to Mac, including the basics of SSL/HTTPS (which would broaden the protection scope in web browsers, email clients, etc. for ESET) and Webcam Protection. Most already include this, and this year it seems that Ransomware protection is now the new feature being introduced in order to protect specific folders from modification. A welcome feature.

At the moment, as it is, ESET is quite behind in the macOS field.

  6. That's unfortunate to hear. Usually you would receive an automatic email back to let you know how long it will take for them to respond. If it has already been longer that that, have you called them back to mention that you sent the screen shot and asked for a follow up?

Mit Chrome Mozilla funktioniert es ... nur Paypal nicht ..... even if I make it a rule, only then does it work ..

I can confirm this, PayPal isn't being suggested to me to open a protected window by default at the moment on Google Chrome. Other sites (banking), are working as expected, just not PayPal.

Banking Mde hasnt worked on my computer since the update to windows 1709.

Which browser do you mainly use?

If Chrome or Firefox, I would double check to make sure ESET is up to date and the browsers are also up to date.

Also, restarting Windows 10 if you have Fast Mode enabled by default can sometimes do wonders.

    As of posting this...

    • Chrome's latest version is 63.0.3239.108
    • Firefox's latest version is 57.0.2
    • ESET's latest version is 11.0.154.0

If you are using Edge or Internet Explorer, it seems like others are having a similar problems and may be a bigger issue.

Checked and double checked the licence key and it still won't let me add it. Is the website broken or something?

I just added my license key today for the first time (copy and paste, with dashes) without an issue, so I wouldn't say that the website is broken.

As @khairulaizat92 mentioned, if it continues not to work, contact where you purchased your ESET license from so they can verify your license.

  10. Now that it has been a couple of hours, try to register your activation key again.

If you are still seeing an error, click on that 'contact support' (which redirects to the ESET United Arab Emirates website) and either contact Telephone support on +971 (4) 3754052 from 09:00-17:00, Sunday to Thursday, or fill in the form on that page for ESET to get back to you.

  11. In case anyone wants a follow up, looks like their cert has been resolved.

A small screen briefly appears and disappears. And that is it.

Just a side note -- if you are referring to the screenshot, the file you open does not have anything visible, it runs and scans in the background, and the Facebook website will let you know its progress and the results. There are various videos on YouTube users have uploaded demonstrating their experiences with Facebook requiring scans. This one in particular shows Trend Micro's one as of April 2017: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCwlo7E27WQ -- There is also one for Kaspersky, and it looks like it is the same procedure, regardless of the vendor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahuaHU8yh8o

Perhaps the KB article needs to be updated slightly to take into account the slightly different UI experience (updated screenshots and more info that the file runs in the background and progress is shown inside the Facebook website, @foneil?

  13. One look at phishtank[dot]com and you'll notice the amount of Phishing sites using HTTPS.

This brings into the discussion of allowing Security products to use SSL/HTTPS... and why although there are some saying it should not be intercepted, at the same time there is a shift to using HTTPS as a standard. Let's Encrypt and Cloudflare with their free SLLs I think brought a huge jump and ease.

Security products should provide the option for SSL/HTTPS interception, and let users turn it off for those who don't use it, otherwise, it's now becoming more of a necessity.

If ESET could bring SSL/HTTPS to their Mac products, that would be pretty useful now. ;)

We have modified the visibility of the groups.

    Great, thank you Tomas.

Another Forum Feedback/Question, what is the best practice to report misplaced posts or topics that are in the wrong spot in the Forums? I always felt like the Report function would be too harsh for a situation like that.

  15. Hello,

A rooted device is when you 'unlock' your Android operating system to gain root access. This allows you to completely take over your tablet above and beyond what you normally should be allowed for.

ESET has detected that your tablet has apparently been 'rooted', and is warning you of the potential dangers for third parties potentially being able to use that root access to do anything they like to your tablet.

How did you set your tablet back to factory mode, just wondering? Was it by using the Backup & Restore > Factory Reset option in Android Settings, or a different method?

  16. Hello,

From my experience, I found that Adguard for Mac & ESET Cyber Security works together really well at the moment. Adguard is great for blocking ads, trackers, etc. and ESET will protect you against viruses, malware, ransomware, etc on your Mac. Adguard includes minor malware and phishing protection by checking URLs -- at the moment they also filter HTTPS which is a huge advantage as ESET Cyber Security can't do that at the moment.

It's a great pair to have.

  17. Hello,

    I suggest two things:

    1. You can make it ask again in ECSP Preferences... > Notifications and check the box next to New Device Detected or similar (usually should be the only one unchecked). You may also need to adjust the Display Conditions next to it. If you don't remember how it should be set, you can simply click on the 'Default' button on the bottom of the window to reset the Notifications back to how it was when installed.
    2. Exclude Time Machine from ECSP completely which is recommended. You can do that in ECSP Preferences... > General > Exclusions and add the .backupdb folder inside the location where Time Machine back ups are made.
  18. Hello Joy,

If you have ESET Cyber Security Pro, this does come with a firewall. When installed, ESET recommends that you disable the built-in firewall in macOS in order to use their firewall.

If you wish to continue using the macOS firewall, it would be best to uninstall Cyber Security Pro and to install Cyber Security instead, as it does not have a firewall, and your license should still work with this version.

In terms of which firewall is 'best', the macOS firewall in System Preferences can only filter incoming connections (when an application like Spotify on your Mac wants to let things from the Internet connect inside your Mac in a special way), and does not do outgoing connections (such as an application on your Mac wanting to send something somewhere on the Internet in a special way). ESET's firewall can filter both incoming and outgoing connections, and depending on your preferences, you can really get into details of specifying TCP/UDP, the ports, IPs/URLS, etc. Based on this, ESET's firewall gives you further protection with your Mac and the Internet.

Some VPN Applications or other third-party applications are known to automatically keep switching the macOS firewall off in the background, but ESET should not be automatically doing this as it instead usually asks you to manually turn it off yourself via System Preferences.

For the cause of your internet connection switching on and off, I would first check if ESET's firewall mode is set to automatic instead of interactive. To check this, click on the ESET icon on your menu bar (top right corner of the screen), click Preferences..., click Firewall and ensure your Filtering mode is Auto with exceptions. Then, either disconnect and reconnect your Mac from the Internet or restart macOS to refresh any Zones or DHCP leases for the ESET firewall to gel with your connection and possibly resolve any further problems.

If you continue to have issues with your internet connection, you can try temporarily uninstalling ESET Cyber Security Pro to see if that seems to resolve your connection issues. If not, then the issue lies elsewhere on your Mac or other devices you use to connect to the Internet with. If it is resolved, then please let us know.

  19. Hi @pygocentrus,

In the past ESET have said that they usually give it some time before they notify users about new versions in-product. I'm unsure about how long or when they do decide to notify you, but they have done this before so they can be 100% certain that the release is completely stable before releasing the update to absolutely everyone in Cyber Security.

As long as you have an active license and your update settings are either Default or set up correctly, you should eventually receive an in-product update. Otherwise, you can continue to check on the forum or on the ESET website for new versions if you like to have the newest versions released.
